Drove over snow & snow knocked gasoline vapor canister off causing fuel spillage that continued until replaced. Only held on by plastic & easily knocked off. Called dealership & scheduled appointment. Was very careful & only drove home & then to dealership being very careful. Adjacent gasoline tank skid plate was not even marked. Unfortunately, skid plate does not cover canister. New vehicles include a skid plate for the canister. No doubt would have been a fire if exhaust had been hot!

Fuel tank overflows a few ounces at every fillup. Happens regardless of gas station or pump.

Large amounts of gasoline sprays out when refueling the vehicle. The gasoline comes out with such force that it is impossible to avoid getting gasoline on hand, arm and clothing. It occurs when the tank becomes full. At first I thought it was a problem with the gas stations pump. It was intermittent at first but now occurs every time I put gas in the vehicle regardless of which gas station pump I use. This is more than an inconvenience and should be considered a safety issue!

I started my 2008 Jeep Wrangler jk and immediately got a check engine light with an audible sound. The engine was running very rough and shaking. I turned off the engine and it seemed fine but the check engine light was still on. I have a obd2 diagnostic code reader and it showed the code P0306. This is a misfire on the number six cylinder. I took it to larry H. miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership in albuquerque and this is what was done. "wi tech diagnostics for fault codes, had store codes for injector #6 circuit, no work done, operating as per design". I asked what can be done to fix the problem and [xxx] said that the tech could not duplicate the problem so they could not fix anything. [xxx] offered to perform a fuel injector cleaning but this was the only options for now. The next day I started the Jeep and had the same issue. I looked up this code 0306 on the Jeep jk site and read posts of "pentastar problem". in all cases these people had to visit the dealership 4 to 5 times until they fixed the problem. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Very often, when I fill up my gas tank, it spits gas out. Sometimes, the gas sprays out so far that it wets my clothing, the fuel pump stand, and the surrounding area. I am concerned that this can one day cause a fire and is a health and environmental hazard. I have tried to pump at different pumps and at different speeds but the problem persists.

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while refueling, the nozzle would repeatedly turn off and once it did fuel would spew back out from the filler neck. The contact mentioned that the engine and fuel cap warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 81,000.

Have jk 2R rubicon model. When traveling in the high country in Colorado I start to smell fuel fumes around noon and they do not go away until we refuel at the end of the day. The fuel tank get so hot the ethanol boils off and the emission system cannot handle the fumes so they vent into the atmosphere. The Jeep fills with fumes and vehicles behind can smell them too. All of the two door jk models we travel with have the same problem. Jeep has been of no help and say they know of the problem but have no solution. In the last year 2 of us have contacted large cell lymphoma. Ethanol is a class one carcinogin.

On every fill up for gas since January after I or an attendant who fills the gas tank gets splashed/soaked with gas. Upon removing the nozzle the gas 'burps' back and sprays gasoline out of the tank. The gas splash started out very small and not as frequently but now it rushes out like a waterfall and every fill up. Regardless if you pump the gas slowly by hand or use the auto lever on the pump it still happens-everytime. I am only using 87 octane gas as per the instruction manual and this happens at every gas station (mobil, shell, sunoco, texaco, global, irving, citgo, etc.) my local gas stations are sick of me coming in because they always have to put out kitty litter to mop up the mess.
