Air bag light flashes randomly. The inside of the Jeep has never been wet or the vehicle has never been in an accident. Clockspring is bad in the steering wheel. This is a widely known Jeep Wrangler issue and should be a covered recall due to the safety issues created by a non-functioning airbag. The repair costs exceed $500 at the dealer. Look up jk airbag light issues on line for pages of people experiencing the same issue.

TL * the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speed, the air bag light illuminated and was making a noise. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13V176000 (air bags). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 55,000.

Pulling out of a parking space the other day and a red airbag light appeared on my dash indicating some sort of airbag fault, also cruise control and horn stopped working. Further research showed that the clock springs are a common failure among Jeep Wrangler thus making the airbags non operational until repair is made.

The clock spring on these vehicles are notorious for being faulty. Chrysler recalled right hand drive Jeep for this same issue. This disables the horn the cruise control, the airbag, and the electronic stability control. All very important issues in case of an accident.

My airbag light continually comes on and off, indication of a clock spring failure as identified in Chrysler recall M31, however that recall for some reason only covers RHD vehicles. My standard 2008 lhd vehicle has the same symptom, along with many other Wrangler owners.

The air bag light keeps going on an off. I had it checked at the dealer and they stated it was the clockspring that was bad. This is not is not covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty or my lifetime added care plus warranty that I purchased. This is a safety item and should be fixed by Chrysler.

Air bag light stays lit, with intermittent chime. I took my car to the dealer who told me that I had a faulty clockspring and it needed to be replaced. I asked if it was under warranty or under an active recall. The dealer informed me that the 2007 was recalled for this issue, but the 2008 or later models were not, despite having the exact same part and issue. This issue also affects the horn, as the function of the horn properly working is now intermittent as well. Result of this problem - no airbag and no horn. From what I have read online - a very common problem among Jeep owners. Please help Jeep owners with this common issue and make Chrysler recall this part.

Airbag sensor light came on. Took vehicle in and was told it is the airbag clock spring. There have been recalls on right side driver installs, which mine is not. However, there are numerous reports that left side driver install is defective as well. Chrysler has given assistance to some customers in replacing the part that were not under the recall, but refused to assist me. It is a well known defect and I believe Chrysler should be forced to recall the part on all Jeep Wrangler, especially admittedly knowing the problem and assisting some people with part replacement but not others.

In NHTSA action number :PE11019 date :April 15, 2014 at 01:39 pm Chrysler informed ODI that it intends to initiate a consumer satisfaction campaign for MY2007 lhd Wrangler which will extend the cs warranty coverage for 10 years or 150,000 miles. Accordingly the investigation was closed. The air bag warning in my Jeep keep was coming on and off; I brought it to the dealer, who determined that the clock spring was defective and that it needed to be replaced. The repair cost over $750; the dealer informed me that despite Chrysler representing to the NHTSA that it would extend the cs warranty coverage for 10 years and 150,000 miles (and securing closure of the investigation), Chrysler was not providing the warranty coverage it promised. Please investigate/inquire why Chrysler is not doing so! thank you.
