Wrangler

  • 18 miles
I own a 2018 Jeep Wrangler unlimited 4 door rubicon. Purchased it in May 2018. It has 3,682 miles on it. From the first day I purchased it and every day thereafter, the steering has been extremely loose to the point that you have to keep turning the wheel back and forth to keep the vehicle traveling in a straight line to remain in your driving lane. It feels as if you were driving an old style tractor and gives one the impression the vehicle will go off of the road or strike another vehicle next to you. The higher the rate of speed the more one has to steer back and forth to keep the vehicle moving in a straight line. I have taken the vehicle back to Jeep twice to report the issue for repair and both times they have indicated that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Thousands of other owners have made this complaint and Chrysler Jeep is replacing some of the drag bars or steering assist on some vehicles while other owners are getting their computer reset to correct a faulty factory setting which allegedly cause this problem. Is NHTSA going to get off of its ass and officially do something about this or do we have to start a class action to see results" Jeep knows its a problem. They know they are liable. I am an attorney who currently represents an 18 year old boy who totaled an exact same vehicle as mine when his steering locked up and he crashed head on into a telephone pole. Now Jeep is sending their engineer to inspect the vehicle.how many people have to die or be injured before you act"

Vehicle is extremely hard to control. Wanders all over the road and has to constantly be over corrected. Shakes violently after going over small bumps at highway speeds. Wont stop shaking until you slow down to less than 50 mph. I have had it in to the dealership 4 times and they just keep sticking a new steering stabilizer on it which obviously does not fix the issue

Just bought a 2018 Wrangler jl leftover/ brand new off the lot. I immediately noticed that the steering is very loose and difficult to control. This is especially true in wind or if driving 55 miles per hour or more. My husband refuses to drive the car because he feels unsafe doing so. I get very nervous as well. I'm constantly having to adjust the wheel to stay on the road. The second issue is that sometimes when I set the cruise control it will just keep going past my designated speed I chose unless I turn it off. Lastly my car seems to not shift gears down. It throttles and revs. When I took it to be looked at I was told it's no big deal. Well it is! even my local mechanic said he feels that it's not switching properly between gears. I've waited 22 years to buy my first Wrangler and I paid $42000 for it. It should not do any of this! it's brand new. It's also a safety hazard. I could get into a major accident! I need help with these things please. Stand behind your product. This is my first Wrangler but my 4th Jeep. I also talked my mom and brother into buying new Jeep the same week I did last month! my contact is [xxx]. [xxx]. I'd like call back so someone can help me. We own a 2018 Jeep Wrangler unlimited (4-door) rubicon, original owner, currently has 2625 miles on it. The vehicle wanders on all road surfaces. The steering is very loose and it is difficult to keep in in the lanes while in motion. This excessive play in the steering makes for a very uncomfortable to drive as you are constantly correcting the direction of the vehicle to keep it from going off the roadway or into another vehicle. This steering issue is very dangerous. I have taken it back to the dealer for repair and they have found nothing.

Steering wanders terribly since the day I brought it home. Been back to dealer 2X and contacted fca 2X. Dealer recommended adding dual steering stabilizer so I did- no difference. I have changed the drag link - no difference. You simply cannot stay in your lane with this vehicle.

The vehicle will unexpectedly pull to the left while driving at highway speeds. This occurs after a few minutes of highway driving and will worsen the longer the vehicle is driven. I have demonstrated this to multiple dealership service advisers and all attempts to fix the issue have not worked. The last attempt a fix by a different dealership I was told Chrysler does not have a fix for this at this time. I believe this has the potential to cause an accident especially in poor road conditions.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler unlimited jl has an issue with "loose steering" or " over correcting". when trying to keep the Jeep in a straight line it tends to "drift". causing the driver to constantly move the steering wheel. It is worse in areas with hills or roads with many turns. Driving down the highway in speeds in excess of 40 mph poses an issue when going around a curve. If the driver turns the wheel even the slightest bit too close you can end up in a wall.

The Jeep wanders all of the road and is impossible to keep it going in a straight line. Highway speeds are when its the worst. You wear yourself out trying to constantly correct the steering. Very uneasy feeling. Towing a small trailer is an even more difficult feat, and feels like a crash is just around the corner.

While traveling on the freeway at speeds from 65-75 my Jeep will start to 'death wobble' when you hit a bump or uneven spot on the road requiring me to decelerate or come to a complete stop. My vehicle has been back to the dealer 5 times since my purchase in Nov of 2018. Five different things have been replaced and one of the dampeners has been replaced twice now. It's been at the dealer for 3 weeks straight now. Chrysler says that there is nothing that they can do at this time and referred me back to the dealer, the dealer suggested I get an attorney specializing in the lemon law. I have done so and also will be talking to the federal trade commission. So far I have lost a days work and five 30 mile trips to and from the dealership only to find out that the problem still persists. It's very dangerous to drive. The dealership said that the new ones will sometimes have a little 'wiggle' to them at times and I informed him that if I had know this I would not have bought it had I know this. I am very upset with Chrysler at the moment. I have never had a problem out of my 2015 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited or my 2009 Jeep ali wry. I am very disappointed in Jeep.

Violent steering wheel shaking and front end steering shaking when driving over road imperfections over 45 mph. Loose and wandering steering resulting in multiple steering corrections to remain straight in line on a flat straight and leveled surface. Wrangler was in dealership, not fixed, they seemed like they didn't want to deal with the issue and they are aware of this issue on other new Jeep. This issue has been ongoing since I bought the Jeep.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the steering wheel had been loose and unresponsive. The dealer charlie's Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (725 Illinois ave maumee, oh 43537, (419) 893-0241) indicated that the safety problem was a known issue from the manufacturer but that a permanent remedy had not been determined. The dealer replaced the steering damper however, the failure recurred and the second repair was to replace the steering gear box, they updated the trac bar and realigned the vehicle but the unstable steering condition continued. A district mgr. And the service center mgr. Test drove the vehicle, provided no technical guidance as the discretion was from the manufacturer to determine a remedy. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, had issued a recall campaign for NHTSA campaign number: 18V343000 (steering) however the contact was uncertain if the failure was related to the recall because it was excluded by the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage 245.
