The cover of the antenna ("shark fin") has fell off possibly due to a carwash. The cover protects the antenna and potentially some other wiring in the car and its radio. The manufacturer (Kia) does not replace the (plastic) cover, but rather changes the whole antenna wiring to the radio. This costs (in the DC area) about $650. I do not see the reason why the manufacturer does not have a more inexpensive solution for this rather potentially frequent problem. Is it reasonable to ask for that much money in order to solve an easy to fix problem that if not fixed might mess with the electronics of your car? I think not.

The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power while being driven low speeds. Various warning indicators were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was still operable after a manual restart. Fredy Kia (11711 gulf fwy, houston, tx) was contacted, but the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.

My car always gets stuck in park if the car is left running (ex. Parked in drive thru to get food and couldn't move). I have to turn the car off in order for it to correct itself. A ton of times my car wont start because it thinks the car is not in park. 1st time this happened while at a grocery store in the summer with groceries in my trunk were spoiling. Sat there for hours waiting on roadside assistance, before calling my old mechanic in another state. He advised me to wiggle the gear shaft further upwards toward park, before trying to start again and it started. 2nd time this happened while traveling out of town, in the middle of nowhere I knew of, at a gas station. Very concerned; extremely annoyed. The guy at the Kia dealership says this happens a lot with these cars.

Tire pressure light constantly goes on and off, car continually gets stuck in park and while driving dash doesn't show gears. Brought to deal provided pictures as proof and was told they could not duplicate problem. Asked for paperwork and they said they would mail it never received paperwork.

Intermittently, on days of excessive heat (110+) the car will start up with all sensor lights illuminated, cannot shift into gear without pushing the gear shift override button, power steering doesn't work, skid control on, and ac blows hot air. Once it cools down the issue stops and won't present itself again unless very specific conditions are met. Happened first year after having the car, in the summer. Service center couldn't reproduce the issue. Summer year 2, issue happened again, with pictures, service center used heat gun to reproduce the problem. Transmission range sensor/neutral safety switch was replaced. Summer year 3. issue happened on 118 degree day when starting up car. A week later happened on the freeway while driving on another 118 degree day. New issues include tachometer and speedometer stay at 0 even while driving. Also, display that shows range and gas mileage stopped working properly. Range would adjust when gas peddle pushed, mpg stayed blank and did not come back after car had rested and cooled down.

First, instrument cluster intermittently fails and show incorrect range and fuel levels. Speedometer shows car is going 0 mph even when car is moving. Tachometer shows 0 RPM even when car is idling or moving. This has happened two times since 3/8/16. Second, brake pads provided on car are cheap and do not have range I changed the brake pads and rotors for the first time at 10K miles. Third, ventilation system doesn't operate properly and I can intermittently smell burning plastic coming from vents, fan doesn't operate over the 3 setting and A/C doesn't blow cold. Finally, shocks and struts are sub par had to replace at 10K miles due to tire cupping.

When driving at any speed, and often times when coming to a stop and then starting to accelerate again, the vehicle loses power and turns off. At this point the check engine light, battery light, oil light and others come on. The vehicle then needs to be put in park, and turned off, and restarts with no issue. The fuel pump has been replaced but has failed to resolve the issue. Fucillo Kia is also refusing to honor the warranty and continue working on the vehicle until the issue is identified. A flight recorder box was put in the vehicle to record the issue if it were to happen again on one of the occasions they gave me back the vehicle stating they were unable to duplicate the problem. The issue did occur again with flight recorder box in place but they said it did not send any signal stating there was an issue with the vehicle. The vehicle has been to them 6 times and at this point they will no longer work on the vehicle despite it being well within the 100,000 mile/10 year warranty. The issue started at 15085 miles and now at 19,000 miles the problem persists.

On September 14, 2014, my wife and I were driving our 2014 Kia Forte when the car began to smoke. As soon as I pulled the car over to the shoulder, flames came out of the hood. The local fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was a total loss. Kia corporate was notified of the incident however, they do not want to investigate. I need help!

Turned onto a fairly narrow street with cars parked on both sides; I was driving down the middle of street until I passed all parked cars; attempted to move back into my lane and steering wheel froze and started jerking; I was headed toward a stop sign pole; I jumped the curb and scrapped right from bumper and tire rim; ignition shut off. Took car to dealer; they kept it for testing and inspection for about 2 weeks and found nothing; we wanted to exchange it but they refused since they did not find anything mechanically wrong with it; we took car back and it has been driving well so far but incident is still in the back of our minds every time we drive it.
