This complaint is regarding a single-owner 2006 Kia Sedona. Since 2006 I have had numerous electrical related problems. Over half the buttons and knobs on the stock cd player/radio have not worked for approximately eight years. I am having to replace headlight and turn signal bulbs every few months. The airbag indicator light is illuminated and will not shut off. I have not been involved in any accidents (yet) and would expect my airbags to deploy if and when necessary. My understanding is that the airbags will not function if the indicator light is illuminated. This is a major safety concern, as this is a family vehicle and I have three small children, and I take frequent road trips due to my job. As far as I know, there are no recalls associated with the airbag or electrical/lighting system for this vehicle. Based on my research of complaints associated with this vehicle year, make, and model, recalls should be issued so affected owners may have these problems corrected at no charge and to prevent injury and or death.

Shortly after warranty expired (early 2012), the air bag light went on our Kia Sedona. I took the van to our local Kia dealer to check and they told me that it was the weight classification seat sensor assembly (part 88610 - $1399.75 at that time) that had to be replaced. After labor cost and taxes it would be $2022!! Kia was having some recalls around that time, but none to address this issue. The main reason we bought this van for our family was because of high safety ratings involving all the airbags. Now we are driving without airbags and praying for extra angels around the van when we have to go on the highway. We would like to take long road trips, but that seems too dangerous without airbags. Please investigate and you will find out it is a common issue with this make and model. Kia needs to step it up and fix this issue; lives are at stake. Thank you!

My airbag light is on like many of the people I have seen complained about. This is a safety issue, I have read people saying it could cost $2000. I do not have that kind of money luckily in the state of Pennsylvania your vehicle can still pass inspection of the light is on. But the point is I have family who use my van from time to time and I'm afraid of an accident happening and no airbags. I think it's ridiculous Kia won't issue a recall it seems to be a known problem.

New 2006, a few months after he bought the van, someone hit me in the rear on the stop light and the airbags never activated, the repair shop said it had no rear air bags, that is why do not active system. 2014 light "airbag" is lit and remains so since then, the dealer charges a fortune only to diagnose, 2014 I had an freeway accident, to prevent a truck hit me flywheel onto the shoulder, hitting the fence right boundedness and ending with the wall head-on collision in central divider... of course "airbags" never worked

My air bag light came on, and has stayed on ever since. The dealer wants $100 to check why the light is on. I told them Kia should check it for free, because it is a safety issue. They told me Kia won't do this. I don't think they care enough about their customers. I am sure they will care, when someone with this issue, gets into an accident, and their air bags do not deploy.

2006 Kia Sedona with about 80000 miles on it. I have had the vehicle for over 3 years and have never been in an accident. My air bag light is on and it is due to a bad sensor under the seat which is not our fault. At the moment when this light is on no airbags work and this is a family vehicle. Kia needs to pay to fix these problems as they are their fault, there are thousands of people with the same make and model as me with the same issues. Kia needs to make a recall on all 2006 Sedonas and pay for these faulty wires and sensors they installed. I do not have 900 bucks to fix something I did not cause, where are consumers rights!!??

"air bag" light stays on after engine ignition when it should turn off. The car has never been in an accident. We have three kids who frequently ride the vehicle and worry that should we happen to been in an accident the air bag will not activate. Therefore, this kindof of endangerment must be dealt seriously and, therefore Kia should issue a recall for the vehicle with similar problems to correct the faulty device.

This vehicle's "airbag" light sensor came on upon starting my vehicle routinely. I was not involved in any accident prior to the light illuminating. I received an estimate of $968.71 to repair two airbag sensors at the dealership. I then learned that the airbag light once illuminated shuts down the entire airbag system in the vehicle and that there are over 44 registered NHTSA complaints on the 2006 Kia Sedona models. I called Kia consumer assistance center and was issued a case number. I have allied the assistance center and Kia Consumer Affairs department of the western regional office over two dozen times beginning December 18, 2014 asking why there has not been a service campaign for this vehicle and they said one time that they would not pay for the repair and suggested I call the western regional office which I call daily with no return call from Kia's [xxx]. Kia consumer assistance has promised me a return phone call daily since December 19, 2015 which I never receive. I am not driving the vehicle since the airbag system is down and renders the van unsafe to drive my family. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Air bag light illuminated with no accident taking place. I purchased the vehicle new in 2006 and it has never been in an accident. I have called the dealership but they want to charge me $135 just to look at the vehicle. The actual repair would be an additional charge. I called Kia motor company but they will not take care of the issue at no cost. They say it is out of warranty (which it is) and there is not a recall (which there isn't, yet, but probably should be) so they can not offer to fix the problem at no cost. I understand the air bag system will not function at all if the air bag light is illuminated so now, my wife is driving an unsafe vehicle that is less than 10 years old and just turned over 100,000 miles. I think Kia should stand behind the safety system of the vehicle and repair it at no cost to me.

The airbag light is illuminated and won't go off. I see that this is an ongoing problem with a multitude of 2006 Kia Sedona owners. I am told that this shuts the whole airbag system off until it is corrected and is very expensive to have fixed. As with many others, my young children ride in this car and I don't feel safe. This should be a recall. Please help us. Thank you.

The entire vehicle air bag system is not functioning. I have been told, by Kia, that it will cost $2,500 to repair this problem. Unfortunately, although it seems to be caused by the front passenger seat belt buckle, which would cost $175 to replace, the entire system ceases to function when any problem occurs and requires that not only the seat buckle be replaced, but also the seat frame ($700) and air bag computer system ($1,500). Although this vehicle is very reliable and sound mechanically, my family is at risk everytime we are on the road.
