About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The air bag light in my 2007 Kia Sportage keeps coming on for no reason. I had this problem occur three (3) times this year twice on the driver's side and once one the passenger's side. The dealership keeps saying you have to sit in the seat a certain way so the light won't come on and recognize your weight. I am over 200 lbs. So I don't understand how the seat does not recognize I am seating in it. I believe there is a fault with the air bag system. I have read about air bag light problems in other Kia models. Please investigate this problem before someone is injured or killed when the air bag does not deploy in a crash because of a faulty air bag system.

I was in auto accident and my car rolled and my body (even though I was wearing a seatbelt) was thrown around and my sternum was severely injured - hairline fracture. None of my airbags deployed. Not the front or the sides.
