I bought this car used on March 2010. At first I thought the previous owner had sprayed something on the dash to clean it. The dash was reflecting the sun so bad that we finally bought a cover and installed it. This has been a life saver! I saw another person on tv with the same problem, and this prompted me to do some more research. It is true that the entire dash board is melting! I was under warranty when I bought it and paid for an extended warranty for 4 years. My warranty just ran out in April and I have not renewed it at this time. I did mention to my Lexus dealer about the issue while I was under warranty, but they were not able to correct it for some reason. Even when I told him that the glare was so bad, he still could not remedy the problem. So I would like to add myself to the number of people with the same concerns as mine.

For the past few years, I have noticed that my dashboard has gotten very shiny and very, very sticky, causing an unsightly mess and, worse, causing a distracting reflection onto the windshield. I didn't know the reason until recently when I saw a report on the news of numerous other people having the same problem with their Lexus.

The dashboard of my 2007 ES 350 is melting away. It has a really shiny & sticky area on the driver side which, causes a lot of glare on the windshield & making it a safety concern. Also, the dashboard has areas that started cracking due, to the same issue. Also, the door panels are melting as well. I try to protect the dashboard with the sunshades, but it is getting worse (each day). Please help.

Dash is melting and Lexus or Toyota are not willing to replace free of charge. I'm the original owner of this car and the problem started about a year and a half ago. It's causing a reflection on the dash board which is blinding and makes it hard to see while driving. I'm worried with the Florida heat the dash board will catch on fire or completely melt, or cause an accident due to the visibility issue.

On July 24, 2014 I noticed the dashboard on the driver side was starting to look sticky and shiny like the passenger side, but didn't think anything of it until I started driving and could not see clearly out of the windshield because of the glare from the sticky and shiny dashboard. After further research I find that I am not the only consumer with this problem. In 2012 I first noticed the sticky and shiny dashboard only on the passenger side which I've mentioned the issue to the dealer who stated he hasn't heard about such issue. I will be bringing my car in as it is now affecting my ability to drive safely because of the glare on the windshield and will present them with the many other complaints seen here. Clearly this is a safety hazard that Lexus needs to issue a recall on before the entire dashboard melts and affects the airbags. I hope to see a resolution for all soon before a fatality from this defect becomes national news as the acceleration issue did.

I was cleaning the windshield and the rag slightly ran across the dash board. Since then it is like a gooey sticky like substance. It is right in front of the driver side of the windshield. I now have a ridiculous glare on the driver side, which makes it very difficult to see. I have fuses and hair fragments sticking to my dash board that won't come off because they are stuck due to the melting of the dash board. I would like to add that any time I even slightly hit the dash board with my nail, or rings or bag, a junk just falls out, it feels like play-doh or clay. This had occurred before I bought my vehicle in November of 2013.

In April of 2013, I noticed that the dashboard of our Lexus had small tears or cracks on it. It looked like someone had stuck their fingernails into the dashboard. I thought it was odd since neither my husband nor myself had done such a thing. Over the next several months, as the weather became hotter in Florida, our dashboard (for lack of a better word) began to melt. It became very sticky and began to cause visual problems on the windshield due to the reflection/glare from the melting dash. My husband called Lexus in July 2013 to explain the issue and the safety hazard it was creating. He asked for the dashboard to be replaced, citing there had to be a defect. We had never experienced this issue with any other car we have owned and we have owned 9 cars over the years, all in Florida's hot sun. For a couple of months we got the run around from Lexus. The final decision was that Lexus would replace our dash at a reduced cost because our car was out of warranty and our issue was an isolated problem that they had never seen before. It was their opinion that we had done something to our dash to cause this. We of course knew we did not! we refused to pay for a new dash, so we have dealt with the inconvenience for almost a year. Recently, I saw a segment on our local news about other cars having this same issue. The news organization urged consumers to follow the link to your website and issue a complaint, so this issue can be recalled and fixed. Please issue a recall for all vehicle make and models that have this issue. It is a safety issue because the reflection blocks my field of vision when I drive the car on a bright sunny day. I have pictures that were sent to Lexus with our original complaint. They not only show the stickiness but the viability issue. Please contact me if you need to see them.

Dashboard has melted. Vehicle is out of warranty. Safety hazard is the extreme reflection from the sun. My eyes are extremely sensitive to light and makes driving difficult. I can not afford a new dashboard and Lexus is claiming that the weather is hot in Florida and it can happen...oh well

Three to four years ago the dashboard began to develop very shiny and very sticky feel and continues to get worse as time goes on. The shine reflects on the windshield causing a glare and hinders vision. This is definitely a safety issue and someone needs to do something about it. This is not just in the Lexus cars either as it is in the news that this is also occurring in Toyota and Nissan make of cars.

On 07/2009 we took our 2007 Lexus ES350 in for service with 20K miles. It was being taken in for a brake problem, faulty visor and vehicle tilted/leaning. I was advised that the brakes had 1mm left (near brake failure). A Lexus tech replaced the brakes, visor and confirmed that the vehicle was tilted/leaning. Since then the vehicle returned several times for service including but not limited to the following: Brakes and tilt/leaning. The brakes were replaced again and another tech confirmed that the vehicle was tilted/leaning with visual and physical inspection. The tech measured from the wheel well to the ground. The dealer replaced the front suspension but the results were the same. The vehicle is still tilted/leaning and now Lexus is refusing to fix it and stated, they have done all they can do to fix it. After I complaint that the vehicle is unsafe a Corp field tech was sent to inspect the vehicle. The field tech also confirmed that the vehicle was tilted/leaning and stated that they don't currently have a remedy for this problem. The vehicle currently has 25K miles. Due to the statement above it leads me to believe the this is a manufacture defect.
