Summary
The aluminum bolts of the steering gear housing cover and the aluminum bolts on the powerpack may corrode in corrosion-critical countries where exposed combination with particularly aggressive thawing agents (saltwater mixtures) in certain vehicles of the model series 166, 292, W/X 204, 212, 213, 205, 253, 218, 222, 217, 207. This fault pr expected in countries that do not use these thawing agents. In the case of advanced corrosion, the bolt strength may be impaired. Over time and with ongoing corrosion in combination with associated with driving, it cannot be excluded that a corroded bolt may break in individual cases. If all 3 mounting bolts of the powerpack were to break over time, this could detach from the The power steering would as a result fail.
