  • 30,000 miles
I've had multiple issues with the Milan throttle body for over a year. Everytime I take it to the dealer they say the computer just needs reprogrammed. After I leave the dealership my car usually has a hard failure just like it did before (loss of power, engine running rough, car rolls to a stop). I can completely turn the car off and turn back on and it runs fine again for a while and then does it all over again. The dealership will only keep reprogramming the computer. They have also replaced the throttle body 2 times but after about 100 miles it starts all over again. Ford has refused to do anything other than what the dealership can find which is only what the codes say (reprogram computer or replace throttle body). I'm not going to keep taking my car in every week to get reprogrammed. Ford has refused to give me a loaner car to use until they fix it. I've taken multiple days off work and arranged for other transportation for the previous work. However, enough is enough. I can't keep taking my car back for some that Ford knows needs fixed. This is clearly a significant safety issue. I travel a lot on highways and interstates and when I lose power I've had some close calls will accidents (re ended) and trying to get to a shoulder to pull off and restart car. I can no longer use my car to drive my kids around due to the safety concerns of being hit during a failure or stranded. I've made this known very clearly to Ford but they don't seem to care. If they do they are not acting on it. I would hate for something terrible to happen before they fix it. I'm not only concerned for my family but others that may be having similar issues with their car. All I'm asking for is for Ford to recognize this is a very real and serious safety concern. They need to look a little deeper at the issue. I just want a safe car to drive until they can fix it.

Just drove home from the dealer after buying this used 2010 Mercury Milan with 26000 miles and when I backed into my parking space I saw the reflection on the wall behind me that was no difference in the light with or without my foot on the brake. I called the dealer next day and they said to bring it back leave it for a day. I have found online that the led lights have a problem. I have not returned it yet because I live 80 miles from the dealer and need a ride home. I hope to this week.

My car stalled suddenly in moderate 35 mph traffic on 8/16/14. I was nearly rear ended while I had to restart my car as there was nowhere to pull over. On 8/17/14, my car stalled suddenly after traveling.5 mile from home (at approx. 20 mph), so I returned to my house. On 8/18 at 7 am, I spoke to sheehy Ford in richmond, va, and was given an appointment for throttle body repair to occur on 8/19 under their "customer satisfaction program" 13B17. I was told that I was not in danger of getting stranded, so I had my husband follow me to work on 8/18. The car stalled again on 8/18 while traveling at 40 mph. Rather than replace the faulty part which they did have in stock, Ford merely recalibrated the powertrain since the check engine light was not lit when I dropped off the car for service, even though I notified them twice of the multiple incidents (via phone on 8/18 and in person on 8/19). I have filed a complaint with Ford since the contaminated internal motor contacts of the throttle body remain in my vehicle.

The taillights never changed illumination, when the headlights where on. When the headlights were not on they illuminated according to brake petal pressing. Was driving at night with headlights on nd was rear ended due to the other driver knowing I was stopping. The other driver was hurt along with her passenger. Next morning to vehicle in to dealership was told it needed a headlight control switch and an rear tail light assemblies. Not bulbs but assembled as these are led. 435$ for each taillight and 50 for control switch.

The driver side rear brake light does not work when the driving lights are on. It seems there are multiple people with this same problem, as a responsible company Ford should fix this issue and not pass there error on to the consumers. The fog lights also are having electrical issues, sometimes they work, other times they don't.

The passenger side led brake light assembly is constantly illuminated as if the brakes are applied but they are not. Makes a safety hazard as it is distracting to drivers that are following and they may misjudge my braking. This is the second assembly that I have had go faulty. The first was the day I bought it but the dealer replaced the $400 part for free.

Both tail lamps illuminate irregularly. Sometimes one will stay on all the time as if braking, other times one will come on, but flicker and still other times they won't work at all. While driving, I have no idea if they are working correctly or not. I am concerned that I will get hit from behind due to this problem.

I was merging onto a highway going about 60 mph. My car suddenly went into an idle and the wrench icon came on in the indicator dash. Luckily, I was able to pull over to the shoulder and no vehicle was behind me. I turned off the car and was then able to accelerate. Later in the day, I was again driving on the highway at about 65 mph. When the same thing happened. I then went directly to a Ford dealer. They immediately knew what the problem was and said Ford had extended their warranty on this problem to 120,000 miles. This is ridiculous! I am sure someone will and probably have been fatally injured because of this issue.there needs to be a recall!!

When the headlights switch is in the on or parking lights only, the right and left brake lights come on at full brightness. When brakes pedal is depressed, there is no change in brightness of right and left brake lights and the center rear brake light illuminates. When this was taken in for a required NY state inspection, the vehicle failed due to this issue. The mechanic working on the vehicle has stated that this is a very common issue with this year, make and model. Dealer has been contacted and stated the cost would be in excess of $1,000 to repair this issue. This is a safety issue that is most likely to lead to rear end collisions and is common in several different vehicles of this year, make and model. Manufacturer should be recalling vehicles of this year, make and model to repair this issue.

Driving thru town at approx 30 mph the vehicles warning lights flashed for check engine and the throttle control warning (wrench) illuminated. The vehicle would not respond to any activation of the gas peddle and drifted to idle power. Not understanding what went wrong, I shut the car down and restarted it to clear the faults. I re-entered traffic and proceeded about 50 ft before it happened again. I proceeded to follow the same reset process and was able to limp the car home. The car was towed away and repaired by replacing the electronic throttle body. Research shows that since 2004 Ford has known that this problem exists and that the engine design default is to bring the car down to idle power. Internet chat boards have stories of this happening on highways at high rates of speed. Ford claims there is no recall because the government (you guys) have not required them to do so despite the failure mode, and public safety implications, being exactly the same as NHTSA action number PE13031. Ford fixed the problem recently but did not scrap old defective inventory and refuses to fix those suspect parts on our roads. They have calculated the costs and choose to risk public safety instead of a recall.

The exact incident date is unknown. The right tail/brake light does not function at all and the left tail/brake light burns very bright like the brake is depressed but its not. This happens when the headlights are on but they function when the headlights are turned off although the right one is much dimmer. I have spoken to the dealership and was told that the entire light assembly would have to be replaced at a cost of $530 per side and there wouldn't be a guarantee that they would last any longer. I have called Ford and made a complaint as well. I haven't gotten it fixed yet since its going to cost me over $1000 and it may go right back out and happen again. I would like there to be some kind of a recall because I have searched online and have found numerous other reports for the same thing. It is a serious safety issue.

I was driving about 40 miles per hour and then all of the sudden the car stop working properly. The wrench lit up on the dashboard. I decided to pull to the side and turn off the car. After turning off the car, I turned it on again and I was able to drive for about 4 miles. Then, when it was time to drive it up a hill, it did the same.

On 5 different occasions during the past week while driving between 70 and 80 mph on the freeway the vehicle stalled and went into limp mode. On one occasion this nearly caused an accident as the vehicle stopped in the middle lane of a three lane highway. No warning lights displayed other than "limp mode light" when the vehicle engine goes to idle. Upon shutting vehicle off and restarting, vehicle behaves as normal with no indicator/warning lights. Took vehicle to shop to get check engine codes, vehicle shows no error codes.

I was traveling at a high rate of speed (70mph) when my engine began to "stall out" on me causing a rapid deceleration. I would say it stalled, but it did not 100% cutout, rather it went into the lowest limp mode on the engine. Luckily, since it was a busy time of night (approximately 6pm), I was in the right hand land and was able to pull off before being rear ended...though it would almost inevitably happened had I been in any other lane. I was near an exit and coasted slowly in the limp mode and made it to a parking lot, where I turned off my car and popped the hood to examine the issue further. The oil was within range and belts were ok. Just as I was finishing the coasting, I saw the "wrench" light illuminate. After checking the engine, I was able to re-start my car and drive home without incident. I looked up the issue online & found many others with the same issue. I ordered oem replacement parts that took about a week to arrive. Over the course of that week, the issue occurred several more times and happened more and more frequently. I avoided highways altogether for safety concerns. I contacted Ford who told me I could have it repaired at my cost at a dealership (since I was a few thousand over the powertrain warranty). I bought oem parts & did the repair myself and the issue has not happened again since. This is the exact issue listed in NHTSA action number: PE13003.

I turned the corner today and my car suddenly lost power and sputtered and was difficult to steer. I managed to roll to the curb and front end started shaking so I immediately turned it off. Turned the ignition again and it struggled to start but did and then immediately repeated the above scenario. Fire station was on the corner and luckily three firemen saw what happened and drive down to help push my car into a culdesac. Waited 90 min for a tow to the dealer and now stuck with paying for a rental. I paid for an extended warranty and will be very upset if this isn't covered! very dangerous and I don't know that I'll feel safe driving this car anymore! a recall needs to be issued!!!!!

When driving at any speed and unexpectedly, the car loses power and there is no warning this is going to happen. I was thankfully on an fm road when car lost power - has happened daily and this time grandkids in the car. However, am a senior citizen and have to think quickly to get off the road - this time there was no shoulder and had to poke to a turn and drift down - I have read this has been reported to Ford and they say the car still has power enough to get safely off the road and not a risk"?" surely they are kidding me - this is a huge risk and I bought this vehicle in August 2013 and it if Oct and has been happening for awhile - I do not think I should pay for a repair after reading how many Mercury are affected obviously with the same exact problem - the safety risk is getting rear-ended because when it happens traffic is right behind you

Intermittent problem which occurred at variable speeds (25 mph, 40 mph, 60 mph) with rapidly increasing frequency in the week before the throttle body was replaced. While driving, the engine seemed to shift out of gear. However, there was no increase in RPM in response to the accelerator. Pulled to side of road with very low RPM, the vehicle was turned off and then restarted each time without problem.

I was driving approx 60 mph on a highway. My car "jerked" forward once, and I completely lost the ability to accelerate. After moving to the shoulder of the road, my car was shaking and difficult to put in park due to the shaking. Car would start up again, but did not have the ability to accelerate except in low drive. Would not accelerate except in low. Had to towed to the dealership, where the throttle body needed replaced and kam reset. This is a 2010 car, fairly new.
