Pulling on to a busy street the vehicle lost all power. We were nearly rear ended and had to deal with an agitated driver. The vehicle would idle but had no power. This allowed us to move to the side of the road. After a period of the time the vehicle was restarted and performed normally. Although this problem happened repeatedly before we made it home. Autoserv, 40 E main St., tilton nh confirmed that is was a defective throttle body. Contact with the Ford regional rep. Showed that of the 3 year / 30,000 mile bumper to bumper this vehicle had 22,000 miles and 3 years and 2 weeks. Thus there was no Ford restitution. Personally, with my experience above, I believe this is a very serious safety concern.

Driving on highway when I was no longer able accelerate in my 2010 Mercury Milan. The car began to jerk and the throttle control/transmission light came on. I turned car off and on and then could drive a few more miles when it repeated the scenario above. I was able to drive it to dealership. It did that a total of 6 times on the way to dealership and eventually both the throttle control & the service engine soon light was on. Dealership fixed my car, replacing the throttle body but charged me saying the problem was not under any warranty.

While driving at 50-60 mph the car would start to slow and then there would be no throttle response, this happened 4 times in 40 miles, and luckily I was able to pull of the road with no problems. After the car sat for 5-10 minutes I was able to get it going and then about 10 miles later it would happen again. Got it to a Ford dealer and found out it is a bad throttle body. This part is on national back order with no idea when available. Had to rent a car to get home that day at a cost of $200.

I was driving to work with the cruise control set at 55mph. The car suddenly lost power and throttle response. There was a wrench warning light lit up on the instrument panel. Had no choice but to pull the car over to the shoulder. I turned off the car and restarted it. The wrench light disappeared and I had throttle response. I drove it 3 more miles down the highway and the car did it again. I pulled to an off ramp and took the car by city streets back home. I later took the car to my fathers shop where they hooked up a handheld 'scanner' to it and was unable to pull the wrench light code. I tooled the car back home and parked it and started driving my truck. I had my mechanic buddy bring his mac tool scanner to my house and we hooked it to the car and he was unable to pull the code. So we drove the car with the scanner hooked up and waited for the car to act up again. It acted up again on the highway. We pulled over and got a code saying the "tac is stuck open". I believe it to be a bad throttle body assembly. I researched this on google.

Commuting home from work the gas pedal became unresponsive, the entire began running very rough, and the red wrench symbol illuminated on my drivers display. Coasted to a safe spot to pull off, turned off the car let it sit for a minute or two, restarted the car, the display was clear, gas pedal response was good, and engine sounded normal. Drove home without further incident. Four days later a similar incident, contacted my Ford garage, described the problem and made an appointment for a diagnostic. Diagnostic came back with the throttle body diagnosis, the parts are on back order with no estimated receiving date. Will cost just under $500 to repair, 3 months out of bumper to bumper coverage, just under 27K on the car. Not covered under the extended power train coverage because it is a sensor/ electrical problem. I am 7th or 8th in line for the part when it becomes available at my local dealership.

While traveling at approx.70 mph on the highway the vehicle, a 2010 Mercury Milan premier, lost ability to accelerate. While vehicle was idling at 1000rpm there was no acceleration at the gas pedal. Vehicle pulled to side of road, placed in park and restarted. This condition happened eleven times on a 22 mile commute from work. Approximately every eight minutes. As traffic was very heavy this was a very dangerous situation. Vehicle has just over 36000 miles.

Driving on freeway when vehicle acceleration became unresponsive. Pulled over to the side of the freeway and could tell engine was still running but not well. Turned vehicle of using the key and restarted the engine. It was a little hesitant to start - it took 5-6 seconds of the key being turned for it to start but had no problems after until the next occurrence. This occurred around 5-6 times until I could get it to the dealership with no regard for speed/road conditions/driving conditions. One moment it was fine the next it had no acceleration.

Engine intermittently fails to accelerate when depressing accelerator, threw engine code P2111. This problem appears to be temporarily corrected by turning car off, then back on. This incident has occurred at both high speeds & around town driving. Also noted that the days of occurrence, the outside temperature was over 90 degrees.

I was traveling on a highway 6-29 going 65mph then the check engine light came on, engine lost power, and I was unable to accelerate. I coasted to the side of the highway and stopped. After 20 seconds I restarted the car and was able to get within one mile of my home before it happened again. On 6-30 I dropped the car off at the dealership and on the way to the dealership, it happened again. This time I was on a busier highway and I almost caused an accident while trying to get to the side of the highway eventhough I had my four way flashers on. Ford has a back order of the throttle housing that has to be replaced and it will take two weeks to get the new part. My car is unsafe to drive but the dealership and Ford will not authorize a loaner or rent without me paying full price for one. We have a second vehicle so it was not that big of a deal but if we didn't have a second vehicle we would have had to drive the car with this safety issue or rent a car at full cost with no assistance from Ford. Ford is making a new throttle housing and not using the old faulty part. This is causing the delay in having parts to fix this issue. Ford knows of the problem but has not issued a recall and all the cost falls on the owner of the vehicle.

My family and I were driving on the highway at 70ish mph, and all of a sudden, it was like the car went into neutral, had zero power at all. We tried to coast to the side of the road, and ended up getting ran off the road and into a ditch due to heavy traffic and heavy rain at the time it failed. We are ok, no one was injured, but I am highly upset at the Ford Motor Company. My wife said she was so glad I was driving when it happened, because she felt she would have lost control and had a severe wreck. Our 2 year old daughter was with us when this happened =-(

While traveling at a speed of 70mph an heading South on I69 in my 2010 Mercury Milan 2.5L premier, my vehicle jerked and started shaking with my RPM's jumping from 800 to 1100. The check engine light turned on and so did the wrench light. I turned on my hazards and made my way to the side of the road. I shut off the vehicle and restarted it and the warning lights turned off. I started on the road again and at about 45 mph it did the same thing. I got off at the next exit and went to autozone to get the code pulled. It was code P2111, throttle circuit in the open position. I did a google search and found out this is an extremely dangerous and common problem with this vehicle and the Mercury mariner, Ford Focus, and Ford escape with the same engine. I called the dealership and they literally laughed at me and informed me that the throttle body is on national back order and there are currently 7,000 of these orders awaiting to be filled. The dealership also informed me that the manufacturer of the throttle body and Ford are currently trying to give an updated part number which means that they are making a new part to fix this problem. This leaves me with a three year old car completely useless sitting in my driveway. This should be a recall as any car that just shuts off while you are on the freeway is extremely dangerous if you do not know what to do in that situation.

I was driving with my infant in the car and it suddenly slowed to 20 mph in heavy traffic. Luckily I was able to get into a turn lane and then it died. I was very fortunate that the SUV behind me did not hit me. He slammed on his brakes and laid on his horn. Very scary. The dealership says it is the throttle body, which is on national back-order and they do not know when it can be fixed. They have 5 others right now with the same issue.

While driving on a country road at 50 mph on mon. May 27th, the car seemed to stall, the gas pedal didn't work & we had to pull over asap. After stopping & restarting the car, we were able to proceed home. At the time, I thought it was a fluke. Then on May 30th it happened again on my street going around 30 mph, so I called the dealer and they said I could come in the next day. Later that same day, I was in rush hour traffic on rt 22(busy highway) & it happened while I was going 60 in the left lane, this was very scary as it was difficult to get over to the shoulder with so much traffic. I took my car to the Ford dealer on Friday May 31st & they said there were no alerts on the car, that they would do a software upgrade that would hopefully fix the issue. The receipt they gave me listed that a throttle body was needed, & it was on back order. I have been trying to minimize using the car, but on June 15th I had to go to my niece and nephew's dance recital in South NJ. While driving home on 295 (major highway) going around 65 the car died again. I was able to proceed after restarting the car, but didn't make it home again without it happening another time. I was making a left turn at an intersection light and the engine died. Thank god it wasn't a wider intersection or I would not have been able to coast through. At this point this car is unusable and is a death trap waiting to happen. I called another dealer, and the part is on back order there as well. This is clearly a major problem with defective throttle bodies in the 2010 Milan that should be recalled, I would like to know how this problem will be rectified. The proof is in the fact that they cannot make the part fast enough to fix the broken cars. The two dealers I dealt with are aware of this widespread problem, obviously due to a manufacturing defect with the throttle body assembly. I have <60K miles.

Was driving on highway and suddenly the car lost power and the wrench icon showed on the dashboard. It was like taking one's foot off the gas peddle. Had to get car towed. The fault was the throttle part #ds7Z9E926D there were 2 other cars at the Ford dealer waiting for the same backordered part to arrive. I never saw 3 cars at a dealer with the same problem at the same time. The part being backordered in a leading indicator the quantity of the part being replaced is running high.

Vehicle randomly sputters then the throttle completely stops working (dangerous condition at speed) and I have to coast to the side of the road while it is constantly sputtering and then have to put it in park, turn off the ignition and then turn it back on which appears to reset it. Took it to dealership over a month ago and they are still waiting for the part (on back order). Called Ford and they finally filed a case number, but still could not give me a date for when the part will be available. Fyi yesterday it happened about 7 times going to work and another 6 on the way home.

Was driving approximately 35 mph. The car began to slow down, and it jerked and hesitated and began to decelerate as it continued the jerking and hesitation. The car would not respond to the accelerator at all. Continued to jerk and slow down and the engine and transmission were not functioning properly. This has now occurred 3 different times in the last two weeks - twice at speeds around 35-40 mph and once at 65 mph. Took it to Ford dealership. They say that it is definitely related to the throttle body. Waiting to get a new throttle body from Ford; but there are none to be had across the whole country.

I was trying to enter the freeway on the ramp when the car lost power. No throttle was present and the engine was slowly idling but very roughly. Pulled over and turn ignition off. It started right up as if nothing was wrong. The problem occurs every 2 - 3 weeks but gets worse and harder to keep engine running properly after occurrence. Now check engine light comes on along with the wrench and the engine completely shuts off. The vehicle is now in the shop for $600 throttle body replacement.
