While driving on the highway, my car stopped accelerating and the rpms did not budge even when I stepped on the gas. A few seconds later the front end of my car (which I am assuming was the engine) began sputtering. A service light also appeared which is the one that is shaped like a double-sided wrench. I pulled off of the road and turned off the engine. I turned the engine back on a few minutes later and it started without any problems. I took my car into a Ford dealership an hour after and they could not find anything wrong. They plugged in the computer and it did not detect any issues. I asked them to pop the hood to see if they could notice any obvious discrepancies but they refused to. They stated that they could not do anything for me because the problem was not currently happening.

I was driving on the freeway at 65 mph and the car seemed to stall. I lost power and coasted to a stop. I could push the accelerator to the floor and the car had enough power to crawl forward. I turned the key off and that cleared the problem. However the problem came back a few days later. Again I turned the key off and the problem cleared. After this happened a second time I took the car to a friend who owns a mechanics shop. He hooked up the car to his computer and he retrieved a code for the problem. After receiving the code I called the dealer I bought the car from and the service department told me the code was for the throttle body. The dealer told me Ford would not cover the replacement of this part. About a week after the initial occurrence I lost power again and I turned the key off, the problem cleared but only long enough to drive another mile and it happened again and again and again. Luckily I was in town and I found the closest mechanics shop to take it too.

While operating the vehicle under normal conditions the vehicle would stall out and lose power resulting in rapid decrease in speed and create unsafe driving situations. Car would still be running but pressing the gas would not result in acceleration. Turning vehicle off and restarting again would sometimes remedy problem but problem increased in frequency and severity, even happening to my wife while driving the vehicle on the highway at speeds in excess of 60+ mph traveling through bridge/tunnel system in local area.

I would like to know why nobody has done anything about this throttle body problem. If you look online and you will see how many complaints there are about the same problem. I would like this to be on the recall list so all of the ones that own this car will not have to pay anywhere from 300-500 to get it fixed. This is a safety problem I was driving on I295 going about 6mph and I lost all throttle control, I'm in the far left lane and had no where to go so I'm coasting to the right shoulder and all most got hit 4 times. I would say this is a really important safety problem. I read about 35 of the same problems online and I haven't seen anyone from your company or Ford comment on this are they waiting for someone to get killed before anything gets done to fix this. I will be calling Monday morning to see what you or Ford will do about this problem if nothin is done I will contact a lawyer and the news media. We were almost killed and something needs to get done at Ford cost not the people who thought they had a safe car.

While driving, the throttle would lose the ability to send fuel to the motor thus causing no acceleration ability. I was required to pull off of the road and turn the vehicle off and restart it. The check engine light and throttle light came on. The vehicle needed an new electronic throttle body.

I was driving approximately 50 mph. The car began to slow down, and it jerked and hesitated and began to decelerate as it continued the jerking and hesitation. The car would not respond to the accelerator at all. Continued to jerk and slow down and the engine and transmission were not functioning properly. I pulled in to a gas station and stopped the car.

I was first in line at a red light on a 2-lane highway. When the light turned green, I accelerated and halfway through the intersection the car "lurched" and lost power. The car didn't die but there was no response in the gas pedal and a wrench symbol appeared in the dash. I made it through the intersection and to the shoulder at idle speed (with a line of cars behind me). I put the car in park and turned it off for a minute. It restarted ok, the wrench was gone and the car ran fine. I considered it a fluke until a week later when the same thing happened, except that I was traveling at 70 mph in the inside lane of the same highway. Luckily there was room to change lanes while decelerating and I pulled to the shoulder. Again, it restarted fine after I turned it off, and the wrench was gone. I took the car for service at a Ford dealer because losing power in traffic is a very dangerous situation and who knows when and where it might happen again. The tech found a problem with the throttle body and replaced it at a cost of about $350 parts/labor. Of course, we are just outside of the warranty period at 41,000 miles.

I was driving down the freeway at 65 mph, when the check engine and transmission light came on and the car immediately started to decelerate and I was not to give the car gas to get out of the way of moving traffic. After turning the car off and turning the car on again, the car seemed to have reset itself and the car started working properly again. A couple of months later, now at 41000 miles, the car is having this problem more frequently and is unsafe to drive. I took the car to a dealership to see what was wrong with the car when they stated to me that the throttle body kept getting stuck closed. I feel this should be looked into further as a problem with the throttle body should not be going out for a car that is still practically brand new.

I have a 2010 Mercury Milan this car has been in the shop many times the transmission was slipping it has left me in the middle of an intersection and the last straw was 3 weeks ago when the transmission kicked in when I was turning it popped my neck and I hit a curb. I do not feel safe in the car. One time the gas pedal stuck and I had to reach down and pull out my floor mat. Also trim parts just fall off of this thing.

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. While driving in reverse, the accelerator pedal stuck and the vehicle began to surge backwards until it rolled over a curb resulting in a crash. A police report was filed but there were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that there was no chance the vehicle could have surged. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure occurred again while the contact was driving in reverse; the failure resulted in another crash. Another police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was again taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. My car sped up while I had my foot on the brake I just got it stopped before I hit a truck the first time. The second time I was pulling into my garage to park my car when it sped up and I took the center section between my doors before I got it stopped. It done $3299 to the garage and $2600 to the car. Ford checked it out for two hours and could not find anything wrong.
