I was driving down I94 in washtenaw county and I received a notification to the extent "service power steering systems" within the next 5 minutes I completely loss power steering. Once in a safe location, I turned off the car and restarted; the problem remained. Repeated twice to no avail. Representatives at Ford client relations states "no outstanding recalls for this issue" dealer states "not a lot of known problems that they have seen". I reiterated to both that my research shows the opposite that there have been numerous incidents of the same report.

The electric power assist steering would fail intermittently and a message would display to that effect most of the time. Sometimes restarting the car would make it work and other times it would just start working.this only happen when the car was not rolling but we could not trust it and had it replaced, at a cost of $1789.

Power steering completely gone 5 min after warning light and chime sounded, and display on dash said power steering failure and service advancetrac now. Seems very dangerous to be driving and only have 5 minutes before you lose your steering. Warning light was a car with curvy tire tracks. This needs a recall due to its dangerous implications.

Wife was driving car got aural warning accompanied by service power steering, and service advancetrac sys with the skidding car symbol on dash. Complete loss of power steering. There were no prior noises/steering issue that would have lead us to believe there was a problem and thankfully there were no adverse weather conditions such as snow or ice or need to avoid a collision she could barely steer vehicle.

Power steering recall: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2008-2011 Ford escape and Mercury mariner vehicles manufactured August 18, 2006, through September 11, 2010. The affected vehicles have a steering torque sensor that may not be able to properly detect driver steering input. I called Ford Motor Company regarding my vehicle 2010 Mercury Milan premier because I had to have my power steering replaced on my vehicle. The dealership stated that I would have to call Ford and inform them that my car should be listed in the recall. When I called I was transferred to customer relations. The woman was very rude and kept repeating the same thing over and over. I explained to her I understand the protocol I just want to make sure that information regarding the call will be submitted about my vehicle power steering was serviced on my Milan and if there was anything further that I could do regarding my vehicle possibly being in the recall. Her tone of voice was very rude and she didn't seem to care about my concern. I am considering purchasing a Honda vehicle. When my power steering went out it was four occurrences 3 times on the freeway and once leaving from work. Not only was my life and danger but the other drivers and my family members who were in the vehicle with me. So to speak with someone who does not care about my concern is very upsetting and I do not want to drive anymore Ford/Mercury vehicles.

At this point my car had no power steering at all, leaving me stranded hours from home.

Traveling to army national guard drill during the early morning hours is when this occured. I was going speed limit while turning right onto an onramp which leads to the highway. There was a weird vibration in the sterring wheel and it failed and could not be turned back from the right position. I am strong and I could not move it. This malfunction cause my car to smash into a tree. I was knocked out, head injruy, and very bad back/shoulder injury. I was taken by 911 to the hospital and I have been treated for multiple things. Ford is yet to repond to anything or to offer some sort of settlement for this which is absolutly their fault. I have got a lawyer to keep sending demands to Ford. Now, I saw on the news that this is actually a problem they are now finding out about and claiming no one has been seriously hurt from it...well this is not true as I did. I am also seeking a negligence claim because a week prior, they replaced a faulty transmission in my car which also could have lead to this. Hopefully your Agency does some serious investigation.

I was traveling at night, at a speed of 30 mph. I heard a bell and looked at my dash and saw a message that said powertrac service now. I pulled over to a parking lot, restarted my car, and at this point.... there was no power steering. Thank god my husband was with me. I couldn't even turn the wheel myself. I was lucky that our children were not in the car. There is to many of these same issues listed within the last month. Oh and by the way, I had my car serviced (at the dealership) yesterday and was told my car was great! wondering what in the world is going on.

I was in cincinnati that weekend (3 hours away from home) and as I was pulling into the parking lot of a store, the car jerked very hard and then the wrench showed up on the dash and I lost all power. I was able to coast into a parking space. I then shut off the car and waited a bit and restarted it. The wrench came off the dash and the car was working properly again. We then went about our day and as we were heading back to my nephews football game, we were driving down 4 lanes of traffic and I had just passed a slower moving vehicle when the car jerked abruptly again and I lost all power. I put my turn signal on and was able to turn off a side road. The wrench came on again. It happen the next day as we were attempting to drive back home. We tried to drive the car back home in manual and it worked just fine. I got our car into our local car dealership and they said that it was the throttle body that needed replaced. So after forking out $375, it hasn't done anything since. The reason I'm filing this complaint is that if the throttle body would've acted up while we were traveling through the hilly roads in cincinnati, we would've been in a severe car accident. This problem is a huge concern as you lose all control of the car. You have no gas and the RPM's just quiver on the dash. If I hadn't been able to pull off of the side of the road, we would've been hurt due to a car crash. This concern needs to be sent to Ford/Mercury as this seems to be a huge problem once I researched it. We were fortunate that this didn't happen while we were traveling 70 mph on I-75 in Ohio on our way back. The problem with the throttle body needs to be issued as a recall. It is going to get someone in a very bad accident or killed.
