I have a 2007 Nissan Altima sedan that had the rear sway bar snapped in two. The Nissan dealership had mentioned that it is not a manufacturing defect, but upon an independent inspection by a 3rd party mechanic, there was no apparent damage to the area surround the area where the sway bar snapped. Also, the mechanic mentioned that the sway bar was manufactured as a hollow tube and therefore may not be able to support the tension. The sway bar snapped in the connection point where it was mounted on the chassis of the vehicle. I also have read about other owners of the same vehicle which have encountered the same problem.
