Crack just appeared on the drivers side about 5 inches from the bottom and reached out over a foot. Wasn't there when I parked my car at work, was there when I went to go home. Now the crack is about 18" so I have to get it replaced. Car is brand new and of course the dealer won't fix it under the warranty because, I can't prove it wasn't hit by a rock or other object....not happy with Nissan right now.

Horizontal crack on the bottom of the front windshield found today. It appeared out of nowhere. Thought it had to do with the freezing weather but if that was the case, these cars should not be sold in Chicago… Looks like it is a defect. One that will come out of my pocket...

Just wanted to post that the windshield cracked for no apparent reason.

My Nissan Altima 2013 is just 3 months old. Without any reason my windshield started cracking, while I was sitting in my car at my office parking lot. The crack started at lower end of passenger side and travelled through the driver side lower end. This is my first Nissan vehicle and I am very disappointed with it.

Car parked in garage for two days. No issue when it was first parked. Went to drive in AM and noticed a 17 inch crack running from lower passenger trim towards center of windshield. Nothing hit windshield. Has to be defective but don't expect dealer to admit fault. I know this one will cost $600+

I had my car for less than 3 months. Left it parked while I went on vacation, came home to an enormous crack from the far passenger side to the middle of the windshield. I refuse to fix it as I think there is some issue with the design. I'm afraid to pay $500 for a new windshield just to have it happen again!?

We have a 2013 Altima. My husband washed it (lovebugs!) and put it in the garage on a Friday. I went to drive it Monday morning and there was a 10 inch horizontal crack in the windshield on the passenger's side starting from under the frame and continuing to crack towards the center of the windshield. There were absolutely NO marks or cracks on the outside of the windshield, nothing to indicate we had been hit by anything. We took the car to Nissan to ask if there was a problem with defective windshields. Of course, they claimed they had never heard of such a thing. I took them pages of stories of people having the same complaint and they still claimed it must have been a rock. Now that I've read the stories about people having it happen twice, I'm afraid to have it fixed until they admit what's wrong. certainly seems like a defect in material or installation. VERY UNHAPPY with Nissan!

We had a major snow storm. I went out and started clearing off my car with a snow brush/scraper. I was removing snow from atop the roof back windshield line. I have never had a problem using the scraper section to grab a hold of a chunk of snow and pull it off. I heard a pop/crack my scraper which I wasn't slamming down to remove snow had punctured a hole into the back windshield. The whole windshield spider cracked and started to fall into the car. I had the glass company out to replace, my insurance covered it. Like I said before Ive used this technique on numerous cars ive owned in the past never had a problem. Nor was I being rough.

I bought a new 2013 nissan altima august 31st 2012. Windshiel cracked about 17 inches after being hit by what i take it was a small rock while driving to work the next month. Had windshield replaced two months later with a genuine nissan windshield at a cost of $634.00. There was no aftermarket windshield yet for this vehicle.
Today while driving home today something hit the windshield again and about 2 minutes later cracked it again left ot the rear view mirror . This time the crack opened to about 7 inches vertically.
Either Nissan is making very cheap lighter windshields or it perhaps was installed improperly.

I don't know if a rock hit my windshield or not, but it sounded as if something hit it. After I heard the noise, I noticed a small little chip right in the middle of the windshield but towards the bottom. It was hardly noticeable for about the first three or four days. Then, one morning, my wife was driving our daughter to school, and it cracked the rest of the way. It ended up with a crack that was about 15 inches long. I understand that inconvenient things happen from time to time, but you'd think that windshields would be a bit more durable in this day and age. I have also noticed that other people have had problems with the windshield on Altima's so maybe there is a deeper issue at work.

Driving on an interstate, without a lot of other traffic, I heard a pop from the front of the car, then saw an 18 inch crack on the left front windshield, right in the line of vision of the driver. It did not extend any further. The dealer says he has to look at it to see if it was rock damage (i.e.: not warranty -- at 9000 miles). About 5 days later, we did have a rock hit the windshield in a separate area and leave a star (1 inch). I have been driving for 40 years (15-20K/YEAR) , currently live on a gravel road, and never had such damage -- are the windshields of a significantly lesser quality this year?

Have had the car about three months. I was driving at night and heard a noise that sounded like a rock hit the windshield but couldn't see any chips in the glass. About four days later came out after work and noticed a crack extending from the right lower edge of the windshield toward the center about 12 inches long. I would have chalked it up to bad luck but my daughter has a 2008 Altima and we have replaced one windshield already for a much longer crack and it needs to be replaced again for a similar crack. Seems like more than a coincidence. I've been driving for about 25 years and have never had to replace a windshield until I bought these Altimas. Nissan needs to address this problem.

WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON FRIDAY 10/5 HEARD CRACK AS I SWITCHED LANES .
I CANT BELIEVE THAT A NEW WINDSHIELD CRACKS ABOUT 16+INCHES
I'VE BEEN TAKING SAME ROUTE TO WORK FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS WITHOUT INCIDENT
I'M JUST WONDERING IF THE WINDSHIELD WAS MADE THINNER FOR WEIGHT REDUCTION
MAYBE NOT FOR PUBLICATION JUST WONDERING IF ANY OTHER SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURRED

Nissan Ultima or any nissan product will be my last choice from now on!
Cheap material, poorly manufactured, not reliable, worst dealer and their response.
Following conversation for 2013 nissan Ultima windshield crack ( in 6 months) Me: there's crack on my windshield that came out and expanded over night after second snow fall Dealer: its because there's chip under the hood (below vipers hidden somewhere) in windshield and nissan does not cover (dealer took half hour to figure this out... tried to crack more, pressed hard on cracked windshield all over) Me: how you determined that there's chip and not manufacterer defect Dealer: no reply Me: what if its manufacturer defect? Dealer: if it's manufacturer defect than defect will appear in within 1000 miles driven Me: is there any documentation from manufacturer stating that nissan vehicle starts showing defects within 1000 miles and there after nissan is not responsible. Dealer: No. There's no document available or written inside book Me: done :(
