Check engine light came on twice within 3 months of using this car. And it was one of the severe types of illness the car has, if not fixed I could've been stuck on a remote area with no phone reception, which where I live by the way. The car had a slow acceleration, when I stopped on a stop light/sign. Had that fixed on December right before christmas week, but engine light came on again after 2 weeks of driving it, car won't shift gears again, slow acceleration, probably has something to do with its transmission etc.

While driving, the car just accelerates all on its own. When I stop at a stop sign or red light. I try to drive off and the car does not go. It moves very slowly and takes a couple seconds to go. It is very dangerous. I really wish this would get investigated.

Altima

  • 81,000 miles
The car has a cvt transmission that is not functioning properly. The transmission shudders, acclerates on its own, or turns off completely when it warms, it is not safe to drive on the freeway or drive in warm weather due to the fact that the car shuts off when it heats up. It is unsafe to drive, it continues to be a problem with many of Nissan cvt transmissions that they are not fixing.

Car has the same judder code in the transmission but have been told the VIN number was not specified as affected. Car judders in slow and stop and go traffic and in parking lots. This seems to have become a problem with the software package for these transmissions and has affected more cars than the VIN numbers that the recall is out for.

I have a 2016 Nissan Altima with 85,000 miles that is currently experiencing some issues. I've found multiple people online that are having the same problem. The vehicle at times when pushing down the accelerator will not respond then suddenly take off like it's in 3rd gear. This has caused me too get stuck in intersections with no power and nearly causing accidents. Nissan is saying there is no issue. How can this not be a safety recall?

2016 Nissan Altima has delayed acceleration. Also, can hear a sizzle noise when driving making a turn, as if wire is shorting but no smell of burning wires; at this time. This is while driving, idling, street driving, and on highway; we are very concerned.

An unknown dealer was called and stated that they were unable to perform a diagnostic if the engine indicator was not illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Altima

  • 53,000 miles
Started vehicle this morning and put in reverse and pressed the pedal to back out and had a delayed reaction and the RPM's just increased. The car did not move for approximately four to five seconds and finally backed out. Placed the car in drive and drove toward a stop sign approximately 100 yards away and it seemed like it was losing power as I tried to accelerate and again the RPM's increased but seemed like it would not move. Drove vehicle back home and with same issues and parked for about thirty minutes. Tried to duplicate but drove just fine. This has happened before while at a red light about a couple of months ago. Tried accelerating and would barely accelerate like it had no power. Placed in park, cut the car off and back on and after a few minutes, I hit the accelerator and it darted off. Luckily, there has been no accidents but have concerns if this happens while on a highway. This Altima on has over 53K miles and have no idea why this is happening because I am not a mechanic but have read several statements on the internet from others with the same issue. Not sure why Nissan has not placed a recall on this issue but is very unsafe.

When driving in rush hour traffic with a lot of stopping and starting, the car hesitates for a few seconds when I push on the gas after a red light or stop sign. It has not caused an accident or injury yet but it's just a matter of time. I can't believe there is no recall on the transmission when so many people have had this same issue!

16 Nissan Altima sometimes has about a 5 second delay in acceleration as car just idles and slowly rolls ahead. This is very dangerous when you are taking off and crossing on coming traffic. Took it to Nissan dealer they said nothing they can do because it doesnt show an error code. Same with Nissan usa corperation. Says nothing they can do untill shows a code or fails completely. So basicall they are saying that this vehicle is safe to drive" new transmission about 4500 dollars. My warranty runs out at 90,000 miles, wich is an aftermarket warranty that I paid 2500 $ for. Im sure that they hope the warranty expires so I get the bill. Nissan knows about problems with cvt transmissions, and footpedal position sensors and does nothing about it. How can they be in buisness" how van they tell me it is safe to drive like this. I think it should be a recall issue.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in three unknown recalls. While the contact's friend was driving at an unknown speed and attempting to stop, the vehicle shut off without warning. The vehicle was towed to the driver's residence. The contact called morrie's brooklyn park Nissan at 612-426-5487 (located at 7875 brooklyn blvd, brooklyn park, mn 55445) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not approve the repair under the warranty. The contact stated that there was no clear explanation for the manufacturer's decision. The vehicle was towed to the seller (cornerstone Plymouth, 763-559-5300, located at 3901 vinewood ln N, Plymouth, mn 55441) who connected with the third party warranty company and repaired the vehicle. Additionally, while the vehicle was at a car wash in July of 2019, the rear window shattered without warning or an impact. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

On multiple occasions, after coming to a complete stop vehicle would not accelerate after pushing the accelerator. In addition to this now the transmission will not up shift for road speed. Vehicle, when placed in park or neutral, will rev up when accelerator is pushed but not while transmission is engaged in drive. Again the acceleration problem has occurred multiple times over the past 4-6 months. The shifting episode occurred in addition to the afore mentioned problem today 20 Oct 2019.

Car started to lurch and whine while driving at any speed. Two weeks later it got worse and started to lose power or fail to accelerate while driving. Now vehicle will not go into gear most times. When it does it fails to move forward or backward, while pressing the gas pedal. Mechanic informed me that the transmission is slipping and needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

  • 45 miles
On the 14th of June, 2019 I was driving to work. When suddenly I felt my car power decreasing as I pressed the gas. Soon as that happen I new something was wrong so for my safety and other I took the nearest exited to local street and found a safe area to check my car. Turn it off and back on and I started driving sgain it seemed like nothing happened but after about 10 later it completely lost power no matter how hard I pressed the gas. So I called a tow truck and we took to the repair shop and I found out that the transmission on my car has died and it will need to be replaced. And that will cost me alot of money. So I called a Nissan dealership and they told me it will. Cost me $3000 for new transmission. So my next option was to check with Nissan if they will help me so I called the Nissan customer service so they asked how much miles I had in the car and I told them 70,000 miles. But sadly they told me my warrant end at 60,000 miles. I need my car for work so at the end it took about a week to get it fixed and costed me around $2000. Worst experience I have ever had to deal with with this car. What surprised me is that I always took good care of it since the first time I got it I made sure all maintenance that was needed for it was done but I was surprised that my transmission died at only 70,000 miles. So hopefully this help in anyway for other who have the same issue.

I had stopped at a red light, when it turned green my car stalled and wouldn't accelerate. Once it did, it wouldn't pick up speed. Car will go up to 4rpm and will only go 10-15 miles P/hr. No service light has appeared. This happened in city streets. This first happened two weeks ago and been happening every time I've driven the car, which has been three more times, have not driven it since.
