The cvt transmission failed which traveling on the highway. Car decelerated on the highway. I drifted to an exit and managed to get to a park and ride. This presented a serious safety issue on the highway as I tried to drift across a side road to a park and ride

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Altima. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle decelerated and the check engine indicator illuminated. Also, when accelerating from a stop, the gear did not shift into drive until the accelerator pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to Nissan of newnan (678-552-4957, located at 783 bullsboro dr, newnan, ga 30265) where it was stated that the warranty expired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The vehicle was taken to hudson Nissan of North charleston (7331 rivers ave, North charleston, SC 29406, (843) 553-1000) where it was diagnosed that the wheel bearings needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the dealer had the vehicle for five days without it being repaired or returned. The contact stated that the failure also occurred with the 2018 Nissan versa, which was provided as a loaner vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000. The VIN was not included.
