My wife has a 2004 Nissan Armada and I have a 2004 Nissan titan. Both vehicles have had a total failure of the ABS system twice in the last month. The symptoms are a grinding noise form the brakes, the brake warning light on, and inefficient stopping power no matter the amount of pressure exerted on the pedal. After shutting down the engine and restarting, the symptoms disappear. The computer does not record any failure code and the dealer explained that Nissan has a technical bulletin that specifies to reprogram the vehicle computer but it does not guarantee the problem will not recur. Neither is this procedure covered under the warranty of the vehicle. I researched the problem in Nissan internet forums and it looks like it is a fairly common problem as I was able to find numerous reports of the same. I think this is a major safety issue since it does affect the stopping ability of the vehicle, and almost assures an accident if the vehicle is traveling at anything more than parking lot speeds.

My brake warning light is or was on, and/or the ABS warning light is or was on, and there is a vibration in the brake pedal while braking. I had little or no braking power. I had to stop the vehicle thank god I was going fast. Usually this occurs as I start up the vehicle. After the issue I would stop the car and turn off the engine. After a few minutes I would restart the vehicle and the brake light was no longer on and the brake noises were gone as well. Please help!

The brakes on my Nissan Armada intermittently go out. This usually happens when pushing hard on the brakes to make a sudden stop. The only solution is to turn the car off and press the E-brake a couple of times then release it. The problem has almost killed me twice, but luckily I was able to swerve out of the way both times. I have brought the problem to my mechanic who has grinded down the rotors and replaced the brakes, but to no avail the problem keeps occurring. So far we have lost our brakes in this mammoth vehicle about 5 times.

This happens randomly and not on a regular basis. Sometimes once a week other times twice a week. When you bring the vehicle to a stop be it a stop sign or light, it does stop the vehicle no problem, but upon taking your foot off the brake and trying to drive away, the brakes will not release. If you try and drive the vehicle, it makes all kinds of noise and will barely move. This has happened so many times, that I learned how to get the brakes to release. Upon this happening, you put the car in park, shut the engine off, wait a minute and restart the vehicle and the brakes are fine. I have gone to the dealership many times and they say nothing is wrong with the vehicle, and of course they always say " we cannot not duplicate the problem". I know this is a common problem because I belong to a forum for Nissan Armada's call club Armada. There are many complaints of this issue, yet Nissan doesn't want to admit this problem. This vehicle is not safe and it scares me to think what these brakes might do. Nissan never again!

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Armada. On eight separate occasions, while driving approximately 60 mph, the emergency brake light illuminated. The vehicle then began making a loud noise and vibrated. The failure makes it difficult to maneuver the vehicle. The brake pedal must be depressed to the floor; however, the vehicle still does not come to an immediate complete stop. The dealer stated that they could not duplicate the failure. The brake pads have been changed three times in two and a half years. The current mileage was 34,512 and failure mileage was 33,000.

2004 Nissan pathfinder Armada with numerous problems. Customer states the vehicle has had some of these problems washer tank/motor/level sensor, electrical worked after key was removed from the ignition, and it had brake failure. The tires were wearing unevenly. There was a water leak coming from the passenger front floor board. The dealer installed a hose to the ac drain. The front rotors were replaced due to them being warped and the rear rotors were resurfaced. The passenger window would not roll up, due to it being off track. While driving, the engine suddenly shut down. The consumer removed the key from the ignition, but the wipers, horn, headlights and other electrical instruments kept on working. The consumer also experienced a flat tire and there was moisture in the transmission connector, the wiring harness was repalced.

The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer and they acknowledged the failure with the brake system, but were unable to determine the cause of failure. She later returned to the dealer and they placed a kit on the brake system. One year later, the brakes began making a loud grinding noise and the vehicle became difficult to stop. The dealer repaired the vehicle again, however, the contact still had to apply pressure to the brakes at least four times in order to stop the vehicle. There were no warning lights present. The manufacturer is conducting an investigation. The current mileage was 30,000 and failure mileage was 3,500.

Extreme brake judder causing severe loss of stopping effectiveness: 1) while driving with my wife and children in our 2004 Nissan Armada extreme brake judder occurred during normal application of the brakes. 2) this is the second time brake judder has occurred with our 2004 Nissan Armada and both times the effect has been severely reduced stopping capability. 3) if scenario occurred during a routine traffic stop it's evident that the 2004 Nissan Armada would of easily entered the intersection potentially causing an accident. Right after we purchased this car, the problem started, the brakes locked up the brake light comes on, I have to put it in neutral to turn it off start it back to get it to quit. The brakes grab but the car doesn't stop. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't find the problem unless it was doing it when we took it in. I have no warning. I have kids and it amazes me that with close to 100 complaints Nissan would take action. All they are doing is putting the cost of a vehicle above a human life. This is the first time I have purchased a Nissan and this will be my last. I warn people not to buy this type of car. I will even go out of my way to tell them if I see them looking at them on a lot. If Nissan isn't going to do anything to fix this problem even if it means replacing the brake system then we as consumers should warn others before some one looses their life. But that may be what it takes before some big company will fix the problem. Everyone is having the same problem so for the life of me I cant figure out why they wont look into it.. makes you wonder if they would drive one of these cars. The number of failures are far more then what I listed. It caused me to go thru a stop sign and by the grace of god no other cars were around. I really don't want my 17 year old driving it with this kind of problem. The funny thing is if Nissan would take the time to fix the problem they may have repeat customers. Not me not ever again. I am going back to Chevy then next time I buy.

We purchased a 2004 Nissan Armada in March of 2004. Since almost day one we have had ongoing brake problems (mostly rotor and caliper related). In January of 2006, my wife and three of my children were in the car when the brakes completely failed. Fortunately, my wife was able to drive up an embankment and stop the vehicle before anyone was hurt. The diagnosis was a failed delta stroke sensor in the brake booster. A repair was made, but since that time we experienced intermittent warning lights for the vehicle dynamic control and slip. Last week we started to experience severe steering wheel and brake vibration. We took the vehicle in for service and the diagnosis was a failed ABS unit, a burned out 4 wheel drive computer, and a failed switch in the brake booster. These parts have been replaced, but the vehicle is still showing errors when hooked up to the diagnostic computer and is still under repair, but nobody is sure (including Nissan) what the problem is. I feel that this vehicle is unsafe to drive.

Consumer has had numerous problems with the brakes and air condition on 2004 Nissan Armada. When the brakes were applied, the consumer felt a vibration, the pads and rotors were replaced. The rear strut, window and moon roof were leaking. The rear ac pipe and O-ring were replaced to rectify the problem with the air condition not cooling. The hatch struts were replaced due to excessive play.
