I have a 2006 Nissan, Maxima I bought brand new fully loaded at $32,000 2 years after having it started jerking on me on they stated it was the motor mounts so I have been driving it that way and find out now after 80,000 miles it has been my transmission failing and slipping. It jerks so hard and the car even turns off on me at times, it struggles to drive up hills my car is still;L in great condition but I need a new transmission really"?" at 80,000 miles who the hell does that, and then its going to run me almost $3,000 or more if that. This is something that should be brought to attention for all Nissan Maximas and be recalled asap before someone has an accident due to the transmission failing!!!!

I have a 2006, Nissan Maxima SE. I've been having severe problems with my transmission. The car jerks violently when its changes gears between 1st and 2nd, as well as between 2nd and 3rd gear. After doing research on this problem online, I've seen countless number of people who complain about the same problem. I called Nissan and all they said was if there is ever a recall, then keep your receipt and you will be reimbursed. That's not good enough. So many people have experienced this problem from 2004 to 2008. I dont see how this could go on. A "reputable" company, such as Nissan, putting out a product that they know is defective. Its not fair to the consumer. To pay over $36,000 for a vehicle and to have a problem like this is wrong. What has to happen" do people need to die first before this problem is addressed? like the issue that Toyota had in regards to their accelerators getting stuck. Does someone have to bring this to the attention of a national media program, like dateline or 20/20 and bring to light how bad Nissan is treating its customers and how the NHTSA isn't doing anything to help the public with this issue" I'm hoping that this letter will get through to someone who really cares and will take action to help the consumer get some justice. The president made an emphasis on companies putting out quality vehicles and helped bail out some of the auto makers. Hopefully someone will help this consumer with this problem.

For the past month, my 2006 Nissan Maxima has been having some problems with the transmission. When driving, as the car shift between gears 1-3, there are some loud noises and the car jerks forward with every gearshift. This is very dangerous when driving in traffic as the jerks propel the car forward between every gearshift. I did a computer diagnostic on the car and the results were that there is a problem with the valve body assembly on the transmission. I then went online and saw that there are hundreds of complaints regarding the same issue and all of the cars, were between 2005 -2008 and mileage ranged from 78000 to 95000. With all of these complaints that are online of the same problem with this car, I am surprised that there are no recalls for this particular car's problems. It is very clear that there are some major defects with this particular transmission. Called a transmission repair shop and they verified the same problem with many Nissan Maxima cars that have been repaired at its shop. There projected repair prices range from $3000-$4000.

Hello my name is [xxx] and I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima sl with 76K. This car has seemed to be more of a headache than anything else. Here are a list of problems. 1.) transmission: Jerks bad, free rev's bad, jumps from park to drive and reverse baaad. 2.) ABS system: The system initiated itself and I took it to midas there scanner read that there were no problems but still (to this day) bad grinding when I brake and rubbing sound when I accelerate. There appears to be an obvious systematic defect by Nissan. This problem could easily occur if attempting to pass another vehicle or pulling into traffic on a freeway. This problem also qualifies as a serious safety issue as lives could be lost. Nissan should recall the 2004-2006 year model Maximas to ensure noone loses their life.
