Maxima 6-cyl

  • 80,000 miles
Purchased 2006 Maxima. Transmission slips and knocks!! the car only had approx 80K miles when this started!! we have replaced motor mounts but the problem still occurs. It is becoming more frequent as well. I did some research and this apparently is a problem for many owners starting in 2004. We are still paying on this car!

Maxima 6-cyl

  • 75,000 miles
I bought my 2006 Nissan Maxima SE in 2007 with about 8K miles on it. The regularly maintained car now has a little under 81K miles and is having transmission problems. It started with the car jerking and a loud noise when shifting from drive to reverse and reverse to drive. Now the car is jerking when accelerating. The car stalls then surges forward. I took my car to my local mechanic because I can not afford to pay the $100 fee the dealership charges just to look at the vehicle. I was told the transmission is deteriorating. I started looking for information about it and came across an abundance of testimonies from people with the exact experience as me all within the same mileage and it seems Nissan is not doing anything about it. I guess someone will need to die before this issue is taken seriously. I am so done with Nissan, is there anything legally that can be done for Nissan to hear our voices for a recall to happen. Its to many people with the same complaints for this issue not to be addressed.

I purchased my 06' Maxima in 08' I had it for about 2 months and the cd player doesnt play any thing it skips spits the cd out and an error mesg. Comes up. I took it to the dealer and they "fixed it" so they say 1 week later it starts with the same issue I called and they said they can do anything about it maybe its the cd. So I never got that issue fixed. An other issue is my car has about 70K miles and every time the car goes 20-30 mph it has a hard hit to change gears every time. My car get serviced every 3-4 months and now I need a new tranmission!! I only work about 20 miles from where I live how can that be" also I had to replace some kind of brake part. Every time I went to brake the car made this noise and it started to shake the sound was this grinding sound then an other sound started like when you press the brakes and the roads are wet. But shaking real bad. I went to the dealer and they said its w & T on the car. When I asked him how offten this happens and he said not that offten so how can that be" other than that its little thing like my truck lock doesnt stay put I have to tighten the bolts of it once aweek please make Nissan do a re-call I have read all the compalints and they are all the same and expensive issue.

2006 Nissan Maxima, purchased from stone mountain Nissan in stone mountain, ga on 2-16-08, is experiencing hard shifting in low gears (2-3rd gear). The transmission drops when shifting from park to reverse as well as from park to drive. Every time I took car back to dealer they say "they can't replicate the problem" on thanksgiving 2010, I was traveling on the road with the babies when the car suddenly make this long jerking movement. Car is unsafe to drive. Dealer now says transmission needs replaced. (remember, they never could replicate the problem!)

I purchased a brand new 2006 Nissan Maxima. I have my car serviced every three months and now at only 69,000 milieus my transmission has failed. A few months after purchasing my vehicle I noticed a "whining" noise when accelerating. I took the car back to the dealer several times for this issue and was told by the service manager that the mechanic could find no issue. I believe that there is a transmission defect on the 2006 Nissan Maxima and there should be a recall.

Maxima 6-cyl

  • 94,000 miles
My transmission begins to slip and jerk and get stuck now my car has 94000 miles on it the diagnostic computer reads shift malfunction and from what I have heard and read this is a fairly common problem for this model my aunt has the same car and hers has started doing it to. It is obviously not the consumers fault or anything the consumer could prevent I think Nissan recall this because it is very dangerous when you are sitting at a red light and you car slips out of gear.

Maxima 6-cyl

  • 82,000 miles
My 2006 Nissan Maxima sl's transmissions jerks very hard into gear after a slow down or when put in reverse. As soon as I enter an expressway ramp, my car jerk so hard into gear that I almost lost control and went off the ramp. I took my car to a Nissan dealership who said that I need a new transmission even though I only have 82000 miles on my car. ( I purchased an extended 100,000 mile warranty from Nissan when I bought the car).that dealership told me I would have to take it to the dealership that I bought it from. When I took it there, they said that they could not duplicate the problem that I described. I know that I'm not crazy and I have read of numerous complaints of the same kind.bottom line is my transmission was not fixed by Nissan and I'm afraid to drive this car.

Maxima 6-cyl

  • 80,000 miles
I own a 2006 Nissan Maxima that now has 84,000 miles. Around 80K the car starting making severe jerking moves when changing into and from lower gears (1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd). This has to be dangerous because the RPM will surge and the car will move forward and slip out of gear. I have read numerous blogs and Nissan help blogs of owners that have Maxima's between 2004-2006 all complaining of the exact same problem! I have taken the vehicle to multiple Nissan dealerships and have had the transmission fluid changed twice! the car improved for a short time but is now doing the same thing. Please do something and make Nissan review this very serious problem. Please help before someone gets injured or much worse. Nissan corporate is slow to respond and aware that this is an issue and has in some cases replaced the transmission and in others denied a problem exists. It depends on the dealership and how great of an advocate they will be for you. This is clearly a safety issue. Please help. The vehicle is unsafe to drive once this condition appears. Thanks.

Maxima

  • 90,000 miles
I have just purchased a 2006 Maxima that has a terrible problem somewhere in the transmission. When I'm driving I can feel the car slip out of gear and cause it to violently jerk like a rear end collision except there is not one. I don't have any lights on to detect a problem but I have seen online that others have had the same issue. I do not want to be the next one dead on the interstate because of a faulty transmission. This problem needs to be addressed because the transmission does not function properly. I bought this car because I thought Nissan made quality cars and cared about their buyers but now I've seen that so far nothing has been done about this. Without a light detecting this problem a lot of service people are unable to find the cause. I care about my family and now will have no other way to work because of this issue.

Maxima

  • 86,000 miles
My 2006 Nissan Maxima has been experiencing a slip in the transmission. The other day I tried to cross a street and it slipped almost causing a crash with a semi truck that could not have stopped in time. It finally caught but was a close call. Nissan has done nothing to admit or address the issues with the transmission and I have read many similar stories online. What can be done to hold Nissan responsible. There needs to be some type of press coverage. Does someone have to die before anything is done.
