Driver side seat in Nissan Murano broke again without warning. Seat tilted to the left and was unstable. I was unable to adjust the seat to the proper driving position. Car was parked at the time. I was getting into the car and once seated it broke. Nissan said the only repair is to replace the seat entirely at $1,000! Nissan Consumer Affairs refuses to cover the costs to replace the seat.

2005 Nissan Murano. Seat bracket that anchors drivers' seat to car has broken -allowing seat to rock and move freely while driving. This is a serious defect in the vehicle and apparently very common from the information that I have found. The fact that the driver's (or any seat for that matter) would not remain attached to the vehicle through every day use is a huge cause for concern. Not only a hazard to driver (especially in event of accident)- but also to passengers in the vehicle. This car is not able to pass inspection and is totally unsafe to drive in its current condition. Someone is going to have an accident, be killed or seriously injured if this known defect is not resolved. Nissan apparently is not going to do much about the situation on their own and thus we must rely on NHTSA to make them correct the problem. Using cheap brackets/plastic parts to anchor seats to vehicle may survive in a crash lab- but I am putting my children in this vehicle- no one at NHTSA will I bet- knowing this problem. Repair is estimated by dealer at $1000 for the consumer. Outrageous considering they know they have a problem.

The driver's side seat is loose on its frame. I brought it in the dealer and the fix is over $650. I have an extended warranty, but they indicate that this is not covered. However, we are working on that. The real safety issue is if the seat breaks while driving, there is a very high likelihood of a crash. I will get the seat fixed this week. However, in reviewing information from other complaints, I have seen many, many others reporting this problem.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Murano. Whenever the contact sits on the front driver's seat, the left corner of the seat falls down. While driving 15 mph, the seat shakes and causes unstable visibility. He took the vehicle to two dealers and both stated that the welding in the seat needed to be repaired. Through online research, he found numerous complaints on this very same failure for this vehicle. He stated that it appeared to be a manufacturer defect that should be recalled. The current and failure mileages were 71,294.

A bracket on the driver's side power seat has broken, and the seat tilts to one side and also forward. It is loose and will move forward several inches when I decelerate/accelerate or get in/out of the vehicle. The driver's seat is now very loose. The seat moves upon exit/entering the car and while driving. A small support bracket is broken and Nissan claims the whole seat assembly needs to be changed, cost $1000+. it seems to me that seat bracket should not break under normal conditions and I was very surprised when I looked around online and found many people with the same problem. Have the drivers seat move around while the car is moving seems to me like a serious safety problem.

  • 23,000 miles
My husband purchased a new Nissan Murano in 2005. In 2006 we gave the car to our 16 year old daughter. The vehicle has 23,000 (!) on it. Last week she informed me that her seat "moves" when she turns the vehicle. We took the car to crown Nissan and was informed that the "lifter link" was broken and would need to be replaced at the cost of $600 parts and $250 labor. I am questioning why a Nissan product and at 4 years of age would have a broken seat"?? after researching this on the internet this appears to be a known problem with previous complaints filed with your office. Why has this not been addressed? a seat bracket breaking is not a normal wear & tear item. I can see a pattern developing and certainly you folks must be able to also. How many seats/passengers have been ejected from wrecked vehicles? how people have been hung by their seatbelt in the event of a crash"

While sitting in the driver's seat the bracket that holds the seat in its position broke. The seat rocked back and forth causing a safety hazard for me while driving the vehicle. Took it to the dealer was told that it would cost approximately $1000 or more to repair. Vehicle only had at the time approx 81,000 mls. This defect should be further investigated and a recall issued as it appears to be a manufacture defect with the number of complaints that have been submitted. Those who have had this equipment repaired as I have should be properly reimbursed.

The drivers seat on my 2005 Nissan Murano S is defective. The frame under the seat that holds the seat to the chassis of the vehicle somehow broke off at one of the corners. When sitting in the seat, the seat rocks side to side. I've owned the vehicle since October 2007, and the problem arose about 6 months after owning the vehicle. This issue is very worrying because it feels as if the seat is not held on properly, and feels as if the seat is going to completely come off the frame. I contacted Nissan and I was told that the issue will cost about $1,000 to repair because its not covered by Nissan. This problem needs to become a recall because the problem seems to affect thousands of Nissan Murano owners. The problem has gotten worse and worse as time has passed.

2005 Nissan Murano. The left seat ( drivers ). about one month ago I noticed that the seat was loose on the left side of the seat. I took it to the dealers and they found that the aft lift rod had cracked. The repair would cost over 1000 dollars. I made a repair on the seat by welding the broken part.

I currently own a 2005 Nissan Murano with approx. 60K miles. To my surprise while driving the car, the seat began to rock back and forth for no apparent reason. After taking the car into our local Nissan dealer, I was informed that the welds on the drivers seat had broken at the base and this was a common problem. Unfortunately, this repair would cost around $1,000 to remedy. After researching this problem online, I have found that this is indeed a very common issue with Nissan Murano's, but Nissan Corp. Has not issued a safety recall. This is a very serious safety defect. Some owners have stated that they were driving when this defect occurred and it caused the driver to veer into oncoming traffic due to the surprise of the seat falling towards the drivers door. After speaking with Nissan Consumer Affairs, I was informed that there was not a recall issued and that I would be responsible for the correction of this safety defect. Some owners have paid to have this issue corrected, only to have it occur yet again.

My 2005 Nissan Murano driver's seat popped while at a stop light when I reposition myself in the seat. It was the left rear bracket. In reading several websites, this appears to be an international problem and is possibly a design flaw and could cause serious injury if this happens while in motion.
