There is a known fact that the drivers sear on the Nissan Murano (2006-2011) has an issue where the drivers seat was poorly constructed and the seat frame snaps around 80,000 miles. My seat broke while driving at about 50 mph down the street, almost making my wife crash the car. I have contacted Nissan, and they offered to pay 50% of the $1600 repair. Not fair to me at all. I have escalated the matter to the regional team, and they offered no more help at all. Reading other customer complaints on the internet, it appears that Nissan isn't admitting to the poor construction of the seat, but has since changed the construction of the seat in recent models to a better construction of the frame where it should not break. This same complaint is all over the internet; several videos have been posted in regards to exact same claims.

As I entered my vehicle I noticed that the driver seat was loose and could be easily lifted with one hand. On closer inspection I saw that the welding is broken on the seat frame assembly. I contacted Nissan consumer and twice they informed me that there is nothing they can do about my situation because my warranty has expired. The local dealership quoted $2,476.68 plus tax to replace the driver side seat slide assembly and adjuster, along with the replacement of the plastic side finishers and Nissan refuses to even consider offering assistance in payment. Right now I'm driving with a piece of 2X4 and some screws to hold my seat in one position. This is not a light-hearted matter. Nissan knows they are negligent and refuse to issue a recall on these seats. My most precious cargo is my 3 yr. Old granddaughter. Every time I buckle her in her car seat, I pray to god that there will not be a collision of any kind. This matter needs to be addressed now - not after an accident and/or death caused by the seat coming completely apart and me not being able to stop the car safely. My family does not want compensation following my granddaughter and/or I being hospitalized or killed. We need this matter to be addressed immediately for the safety of all drivers/passengers of this make and model car.

I was driving out of my neighborhood when I heard a loud pop under the drivers side chair. I can now lift my entire drivers side seat off of the right side of the track. After I did further research I found this is a common issue with 2003-2009 Muranos. The metal bracket holding the seat onto the track breaks due to the metal being too thin. I have read well over 250 complaints on the same issue with Muranos. Nissan refuses to fix since a "campaign" (I.e. recall) has not been issues. I was quoted $1000 to fix the issue. This is a safety issue and irresponsible and negligent on Nissan's part to not recall the Muranos. I took my car to 2 Nissan service centers and both managers knew about this issue and said its common problem. One even went so far to call the part "defective" yet Nissan will do nothing about it. I can only assume this defective part is on other seats in the car. It"S a matter of time until a seat breaks and falls off the track while on the highway causing potential deaths. Nissan is negligent and irresponsible. I will not buy another Nissan. They do no stand behind their cars or have their consumer"S best interests in mind. There should be a recall on this issue based solely on safety issues. Below is one of many complaint sites about this issue: www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2006/Nissan/Murano/seat.

Nissan Murano 2006 with 80 thousand miles in great condition, no fender benders. Two adult drivers use car.our weight 175 lbs and 140lbs. While driving on a main street under 40 mph (limit 45), coming up to a traffic light, I noticed my drivers seat started to bounce while trying to stop. When the seat comes back down it gives a thumping sound. Short time later when I arrived home a shocking feeling came over me after I saw my driver seat bounce loose with only a push of a small finger. I was scared that my life was in danger, if I had to do an emergency maneuver due to a non secure seat even with seat belts. Then I realized I could have placed other people in harms way by having my seat break off and flipping backwards and not being able to reach the brakes. A scary thought.I would never forgive myself if I harmed some one even to having an oem seat break loose. Please recall or inspect all Murano front seat frames.

While driving on interstate at 70 mph, in the left lane of a 6 lane highway my driver's seat suddenly buckled, snapped, and dropped towards the door. I immediately panicked, afraid to take my eyes off the road I began working my way to the extreme right lane to pull over and see what had just happened. With no prior indications of any problems my sit just suddenly broke and I was leaning on the driver's door while driving. When I took my car to my Nissan dealer I was told there were no recalls for this matter, later I learned this to be a common Nissan problem. I was charged $149 for part and $272.14 for labor to have 87473-ca01A :link assy-rr li installed. Since this repair the bottom seat molding is now hanging off my seat, I have been told I need to purchase a new seat frame also!.

Vehicle was traveling at approx. 30 mph when the front driver's seat gave way causing the driver to lean to the left hitting the left front door. Driver was able to maintain control of said vehicle but became alarmed at the sudden nature of the event. It appears that a bracket supporting the seat broke. Internet research and discussions with Nissan customer service (local facility) is very aware of the seat problem. There have been numerous reports of failed brackets with the 2003-2009 Murano. To date, I believe there have been no fatalities caused by the sudden breakage, but in I my humble opinion, it is just a matter of time. I am stunned that there has not been a recall. Nissan should take the initiative and be proactive and have said vehicles fixed.

The seat mechanism has broken 2 times. It may not be safe. The drivers seat seems loose something that holds the sliding parts breaks. Seems to be a common problem with these vehicles. I could see where in a crash the seat may fail to hold its position.

I was driving from work, when I heard a loud popping sound unknown where it was coming from so I pulled over to inspect my vehicle. As I exited my seat I notice that the driver side seat was leaning / rocking to the left side and apparently something had broken. I notified Nissan corporation offices where I spoke to a customer service representative to see if it was a recall on this vehicle for the diver side seat. I was told that there were no recalls but take to the Nissan dealer and have it looked at then do a follow up call with him afterwards. I then went on line and notices that it was thousands of people that were having the same problem that I was experiencing. I could not believe that there was no recall. This is most definitely a safety issued and I don't know what it is going to take before Nissan realize it.

There was a popping noise under my seat and then all of a sudden the driver's seat sagged to the back and left towards the drivers side door. I got out of the car and checked the seat. It rocks back and forth now because the bracket that holds the seat is broken. My seat literally falls all the way down to the car floor now. I decided to look this problem up online and I was astounded to see that there are literally thousands of 2006 Nissan Muranos with this exact same problem with the exact same signs and symptoms as what I had. What was even more incredulous to me was the fat that Nissan hasn't put out a recall for this issue and expects the consumer to pay for the seat which apparently is going to cost me up to $1500 for the seat. This is a factory defect and Nissan should put out a recall to fix this problem. It makes the car very hard to drive and can cause the drive to jerk to the left when the seat lunges backwards possibly causing a serious accident. On the news today there was a recall for a child's item that only had 6 complaints and they recalled it. Nissan has had thousands of complaints and nothing.

I was driving down the highway with my girlfriend and 4 year old daughter in the car. We were driving into a curve to the right and I heard a loud pop. At the same time the driver seat which I was sitting in fell back and to the left causing me the jerk the wheel. We shot across the other lane spun around and skidded to a stop. Luckily, no cars were coming the other way. I didn't think much of it at the time until I finally got around to being able to afford to fix it (being a Nissan I knew it wasn't going to be cheap), I discovered that this is a common problem with the 2006 Nissan Murano. And that mine was not an isolated incident. I came across hundreds of complaints of this problem, so it makes me wonder after my ordeal, how long before somebody gets killed from this obvious defect., Nissan has to be aware of it, but still there has been no recall for the american public. Please tell me someone is on top of this because its not a tire pressure sensor or a head lamp fuse, this is the driver seat.is there any more important thing in the car than keeping the driver in control ? I think everybody would agree no. Someone please do something.

I was getting out of my Nissan Murano to pick up my child from school. When I got out I heard a strange pop/crack noise and the seat was titled to the left back. I opened the back door and looked under the seat and found that there was a piece of metal that had broken. This caused the seat to fall backwards and to the left. I was unable to drive it until I found a plastic cup tall enough to hold up the back left corner of the seat so I was able to drive us home. I'm a single mother barely making it and cant afford a $1200 repair. Especially when there are hundreds of the same complaint. The dealerships other complaints have stated that it is a common issue. This common issue, had I been driving would have caused a wreck and the manufacturer will take no responsibility. I purchased this used and now I know why the prior two owners got rid of it. I also was under the impression that Nissan cared about the people purchasing their vehicles. I wanted a safe truck to Transport my child. There needs to be a recall and Nissan should replace the bracket free of charge knowing that this is an issue.

I was driving with my cousin on our way to lunch when I heard a noise that sounded like I ran over a plastic bottle. I then learned that the drivers seat had broke. I called Consumer Affairs Nissan at 1-800-647-7261 on January 3 2013. The customer service rep asked for my VIN# to see if I was under warranty. Once she located the info and found that my warranty expired I told her that I wanted to file a complaint against Nissan. I didn't stop there I notified the BBB along with the attorneys general office and the NHTSA. I was told that because my warranty was expired I had to have 9 other people in my area who had the same issue come forward for there to be an investigation. It will be 3 months on the 28th of March that I'm still riding around with a broken seat. I did have the seat welded but it broke after 6 days.

I had just stopped my vehicle and opened the driver's door, to exit. As I began to exit, the back left corner of the driver's seat collapsed. I removed the seat control panel and observed the metal seat frame had broken. Note: This is the second time, in the exact same location, this has happened in the past 4 months. The first time the Nissan dealer where I purchased the car offered to weld it for just under $500 dollars or replace the frame for just over $1300 dollars. Additionally, I purchased a "certification" with the vehicle when I bought it used (2009 with 7900 miles) and the certification, although still active, does not cover this part. If I had purchased a "gold" certification, it would have be covered. I opted to go to a local, full service auto body shop where it was welded for $150. I re-contacted the same local Nissan dealer again and they offered to research the incident and attempt to help. Two days later I was contacted and told that the local Nissan Consumer Affairs representative denied covering any part of the repair. The Nissan store then offered to pay 50% of the replacement cost citing my customer loyalty (purchasing 5 cars from them an another 3 from their group).

My wife was driving about 40 mph and suddenly she heard a click and the driver seat sank to the rear left. The car went to the next lane but likely no one was close. My wife was able to take control back and put the car in lane. When she returned home, I checked the seat and it was broken at the rear left. Quick check on internet and I found that it was a common problem with the Murano. To my shock, there was an investigation but no recall was called. My wife was very close to an accident. If she was doing 55 mph on the crowded highway, we would have a different story to tell. Does someone has to die for a recall!!

As I was driving down the road I heard loud snap and the seat saged to the left. The left side of the seat is now considerabley lower that the right side and you can wobble the seat quite a bit, it no longer feels like it is attached to the car very well. It seems this could be a seriuos problem in an emergencey situation!
