I recently received a recall on my armada 2006 for the fuel level sending unit. I also have a 2005 Pathfinder and I am having the same problem. I am not sure why the Pathfinder which is a 2005 would not be on the recall list also, I had to pay almost $600 to repair at the dealer. I would think they would be the same type of fuel level sending unit from the same manufacturer.

Fuel gauge gives faulty reading showing empty most of the time resulting in check engine light on constantly and unable to know the actual fuel level.

I own a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. At approximately 46000 miles the fuel gauge began acting erratically and I got a check engine light. I took it to the dealer and diagnostics showed code P0463 which indicated a fuel sensor sending unit failure. I talked to the service technician about it and he stated this is a very common problem with my model year, in fact there has been recall on previous models however my VIN was not covered. I had to pay 473$ to get it fixed in order to pass emissions testing. I feel this is a safety issue as without knowing the amount of gas in the fuel tank my wife and kids could easily become stranded.

The check engine soon light came on. I checked with obd II and it was the fuel sensor. I checked online and found many others with the same problem. With so many failures it seems apparent it is the result of a faulty part and a recall should be issued. It causes the gas gauge to work erratically. Nissan is charging over $500 to fix this mess to the customer.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. Upon starting the vehicle, the contact noticed the service engine light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed the fuel level sensing unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure and current mileages were approximately 87,000.

I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. After filling the gas tank the gas gauge reads empty and the service engine soon warning light stays on. I currently have about 146,000 km and had this same problem when the vehicle had about 55,000 km. The fuel sensor was replaced under warranty at that time. I have been operating the vehicle like this as the cost is about $400 to replace the sensor.

Check engine light stays on and fuel tank level does not work properly. I don't know what caused it to start. It started on its own.

The fuel gauge is no longer working. The computer in the vehicle cannot read if any fuel is in the tank in turn lighting the "service engine soon" light. This is a great concern as the drive doesn't know how much fuel is in the vehicle which may cause serious accidents as a result of a stalled vehicle in traffic.

Fuel sender gauge on my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is failing or has failed. Will consistently flash dashes or report "0" for the distance to empty indicator and the fuel gauge is now responding similarly. There has been no damage to property or injury as of yet, but I am appalled that Nissan has the 2005 armada (similar design) and the 2006 Pathfinder listed for the recall, but claims the Pathfinder is not covered by this, when a quick search of forums will offer up overwhelming evidence that this is a problem for numerous parts of the product line and could easily result in the car shutting down due to faulty information or running out of fuel due to inaccurate readings. To make matters worse for owners the repair for this runs upward of $600 for an admitted faulty part. Can the dot at least look into this and consider rectifying this situation? I am having a hard time believing that a company could just overlook this problem and simply get away with it. Please help us who are having a hard enough time making ends meet every month since this economic downturn began and are looking at unexpected vehicle failures that are blatantly a manufacturer's defect (even admitted to) but not covered by some weird economic choice. If I'd thought I'd be going through this, I would've bought both smaller and from another manufacturer. You can bet that currently I will not buy another Nissan again, regardless of how many americans they employ.

2005 Nissan Pathfinder SE 6 cylinder started showing erratic fuel level at 45,000 miles. Fuel gauge will show empty/full or low after filling tank or show erratic levels when close to empty. I have to write the mileage after every fill up and project mileage for next fill up. Dealer will not repair although the 2006 models with the same defective part in the fuel tank are being repaired or recalled. Estimate cost of repair $450-$500. Replacement for defective part is not available at dealership parts store. They are being used for the recall of the 2006 and newer models. This is an issue during long trips and registration.

I had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. After filling up my gas tank, I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. After driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. I can not rely on my gauges to give an accurate reading of my fuel and/or how many miles I have until I am empty. Now I have an additional issue that seems to be associated with this where my oil pressure needle always shows high. This did not fix itself. It appears there is a recall on 2006 and younger models for this issue, but my 2005 Pathfinder is not included in the recall. The issue I am having is exactly what is associated with the other recalls.

Fuel gauge sensor shows erroneous amount of fuel in gas tank. Consequence: This could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. This failure is 100% of the time 2005 Nissan Pathfinder xe, Nissan currently have a recall for this sensor on 2006 and 2008, however since a similar issue is present on 2005 they either missed my year or they don't actually know root cause of the problem.

The gas gauge on my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder doesn't work properly. This problem has been recalled on several other year models, but they will not fix my 2005. I have run out of gas 3 times, once with my grandmother, my 2 yr. Old daughter and my 2 month old daughter. I cannot afford to fix this problem. The brakes have also gone out twice on this vehicle.

2005 Nissan Pathfinder. Check engine light came on after filling up with gas. The gas gauge reads empty and fuel light is on even though the tank is full. Called Nissan told me this was a very common problem among Nissan SUV's but unfortunately there is no recall for my personal vehicle. I was told just to watch my mileage so as to not run out of gas or repair the fuel gauge sensor @ an estimated cost of $600. If this is a well known problem why can't the consumer get any help?

When my 2005 Pathfinder's fuel gauge is at half a tank, the dte says ----. I have heard about the recall for the 2006 Pathfinder which is the exact same model as the 2005. This needs to be fixed by Nissan!

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving at unknown speeds, the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. Immediately, the fuel level indicator began reading several various inaccurate fuel levels. The dealer replaced the fuel sensor at the owner's expense. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 110,000.
