I have had the coolant problem fixed. Then I have had to replace all the U-joints. I have had to buy new gas caps to get my check engine light to go off. Now there is a terrible leak and a noise that is so bad. I took it into a local shop and it is the timing chain. This car has been nothing but problems and now it is so bad that I can't sell it because no one wants it and I am now so upside down in my loan because the value is going down so much that I can't trade it in.

My son bought me the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder on March 8. the check engine light and tps lights were on the day we got it, I also could smell antifreeze constantly. Took to mechanic to check. He said engine coolant was leaking intotransmission fluid and that Nissan was having alot of troubles with this. He said it could cost thousands dollars to fix. My vehicle has alittle over 73,500 miles on it and I cannot afford a huge repair bill. My son is worried about my safety. Can you point me in the right direction in regrds to this please! thanks!

WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 25 IN SOUTH DENVER, MY PATHFINDER BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND STALL. THE ENGINE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AS I PULLED INTO A SERVICE STATION ABOUT TWO MILES AWAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTO IN PARKER COLORADO. A RADIATOR PART BLEW, THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND WAS DESTROYED. THE STEAM FROM THE PLASTIC RADIATOR PART ALSO DAMAGED THE MAIN COMPUTER. IT WAS CLOSE TO $10,000 FOR ALL REPAIRS RELATED TO THE RADIATOR PART FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY 8,000 MILES LATER, MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE DRIVING ON I-70 NEAR THE VAIL, COLORADO EXIT, AND THE PATHFINDER STARTED TO JERK VIOLENTLY ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65MPH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SCARY EXPERIENCE FOR US BOTH. THIS HAPPENED TODAY, 03/24/2016. SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR. I HAD IT TOWED TO AVON AUTO IN AVON COLORADO. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE TIME TO LOOK INTO IT FURTHER. PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL ME WITH FURTHER QUESTIONS. [XXX] OR [XXX]. The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently as the check engine warning light illuminated. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that coolant from the radiator leaked into the transmission which caused the transmission to be severely corroded. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.

Vehicle is currently showing symptoms of the bad timing chain/tensioner issue reported by many other consumers. The repair will be expensive for a component that should last the life of the vehicle. Should the component fail and result in catostrophic damage while driving, this will result in immediate loss of power steering and potentially cause vehicle instability and loss of control

I am an active duty marine and have served for over 20 years. My wife and I have been the original owners of this 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. While I was away on business my wife called me and told me the car was acting up. Upon my return I test drove the car. The car would not acceleration after I came to a stop. Soon after the engine light turned on. I took the car to the auto shop to get it checked out and found out the coolant and transmission oil mixed. I took the car into Nissan and found out this is a common problem. Nissan extended the warranty to cover this problem; but I was over the mileage and they would not be cover my vehicle. We recently paid off the car; however, now I am stuck with this ticking time bomb. The car loses acceleration very frequently. I have to turn it off and turn it back on to get it back to normal. While I am driving it, I could feel the transmission disengage. It sometime feels like I am driving over a bumpy road. It may stop working anytime. I am getting ready to deploy and I am stuck with some tough decisions. Buy a replacement car, pay a lot of money to fix this car, or drive the car until it stops working. I don't want to leave my wife and son with this problem while I am gone. Please help.

My cars radiator cracked and leaked into the transmission. The mix of coolant and transmission fluid damaged the transmission and quite possibly damaged my engine. Nissan knows about the radiator because they extended the warranty on it. The repairs for this incident are high the Nissan dealer I took it to quoted me $4,591.43 to replace the transmission and the radiator and that is with the warranty they claim they have on it. The dealer also told me any other damage caused by this faulty radiator would not be covered and I would have to pay for the repairs to any other components as well they told they me might be an additional $2,000 so nearly $7,000. I had know choice but sell the car off as scrap as the repairs would cost more than the car itself. A failure of all these parts at once is a safety hazard to everyone.

Radiator fluid has leaked into the transmission causing it to fail. The dealership has issued a fix where the radiator coolant is bypassed from the transmission but then that has not helped. The fix was for $500+ the repairs for the transmission are at $4700/- now. This is ridiculous the amount of repairs is more than the cost of the vehicle now.

Purchased vehicle from car lot Feb. 28, 2015. Drove this vehicle 5 times and the coolant leaked. Flushed system notice there was stop leak in radiator. Now my transmission slips and truck shakes during acceleration. This was a previous issue before I bought the vehicle because the shaking occurred when driving home. I thought this was just the tires needing to be balanced, but after research I know that it was from the coolant previously leaking into the transmission, and now I am left to deal with it.

The transmission started to slip, which needed to be taken out of overdrive from time to time. After a few months the transmission gave out completely on the highway. It will rev up, but will not drive. Apparently they are famous for the gasket leaking engine coolant with the oil. They should have all been recalled.
