Asked about this specific recall, and my vehicles valid membership in the NHTSA recall group. Dealer's service department ran a VIN check in "the database" and advised me the recall does not apply to my vehicle, even though it demonstrates exact symptoms described in NHTSA recall. I believe this Nissan dealer is confusing the Nissan "voluntary warranty extension" program described as, "fuel sending unit program" with NHTSA campaign number 10V075000 - the latter not a voluntary but government-ordered recall. In April, 2014, I was driving this vehicle with three young children through the I-64 tunnel under where the atlantic ocean meets the james river in Norfolk, Virginia. Our vehicle almost ran out of fuel in the undersea tunnel as I was relying upon the fuel gauge's report of just over 1/4-tank of fuel, when it was in fact, nearly empty. Thankfully, we were able to clear the tunnel and make it to a nearby gas station, where based upon the amount of fuel the vehicle took, we were running "on fumes" and could have run out of gas - thereby blocking traffic inside the tunnel. There needs to be an extension on the recall, very expensive too fix. Problem #2 severe transmission vibration at 50-70 mph, cannot operate in overdrive without having transmission causing severe jerking of vehicle. Very scary noise especially with little kids in car. There is a service bulletin on this issue and it needs to be moved to a full recall. Very dangerous!

2006 Nissan Pathfinder 103K miles. We noticed vehicle would shudder upon acceleration at approximately 40 mph and again at 50 mph. Also at times the engine would rev up like it couldn't shift to the next gear. If we slowed down to 50 and re-accelerated to 55 mph, the shuddering became a severe vibration. We took it to an independent mechanic since we had recently a bad experience with our local Nissan dealer in fixing another problem (timing chain). The mechanic dropped the transmission pan and found the radiator was leaking coolant into the transmission fluid. Mechanic stated we were very lucky to have caught this right away as it could have caused a lot of other problems too lengthy to mention here. Mechanic replaced radiator and did a tranny flush but I'm not sure our problems are over. Now the fuel gauge registers empty after I have just filled up with fuel, the service engine light came on, and now I am totally stressed out driving anywhere, and especially in traffic.

The fuel sensor went, the gas gauge dropped down to E and the gas warning light went on, which in turn set the check engine light on. When it first started it would work one day and then maybe not the next, as of October 2012, it does not work at all. I travel with 3 children, highway driving, daily. This is ridiculous and when I spoke to Nissan, it apparently has been recalled but for only certain VIN #'s, none of which is mine. This makes no sense. I cannot afford to fix it and knowing it is an obvious problem I have a hard time not making Nissan responsible for it. If it was a fluke and it was just my vehicle, then yes I should be responsible to pay for it or deal with it but not when its apparent there is an issue. I try to mathematically figure out my mileage but some times that doesn't always work out and I have run out of gas with my children in the vehicle. Please look into this, thank you.

I researched possibilities on cause and discovered via the internet this was typical of this make/model/year and that the fuel level sensor and sending unit had issues. Nissan info on recalls indicates that about 74,000 vehicles of this type/year had that problem and were being recalled. I took it to the gresham, or Nissan dealer on Oct 17, 2012 and after a check up was advised mine wasn't part of the recall. That will be $451 to replace. I declined and appealed with Nissan - case #[xxx]. [xxx], at Nissan, 1800-647-7261 X [xxx] says Nissan can't help me.
