Everyone needs to get together and file a class action lawsuit against Nissan. Maybe if enough people get in on it they will have to do something. The National transportation and Safety department has been working on this for a couple of years but said they didn't have enough people to complain. SO people, let's get on it. There was a class action lawsuit against them last year but of course no one bothered to let me know. Apparently none of you knew about it either. I say blast them on CNN and every other news station that we can get it on.

Well, unfortunately we fell victim to the infamous coolant/transmission cross contamination. We purchased the 2006 Pathfinder in 2009 from Nissan dealership with approx 46,000 miles on it. This was a certified used vehicle and until this problem we haven't had any. What makes this so bad is we still like the Pathfinder, very comfortable nice vehicle. But like so many others we are UNHAPPY with the way Nissan has handled this problem.

We had the transmission and radiator replaced and so far so good, drives and runs like new. But it shouldn't have cost us a dime! Nissan knew about this problem and should have been proactive and recalled before a Class Action Suit was taken out against them! I'm very disappointed in them for that. My family have owned several Nissan's and they have always been dependable vehicles but I would have a hard time recommending anyone buy a Nissan now. And seeing the problems of the new design Pathfinder with the CVT I def. wouldn't have one. I hope and pray that there is enough complaints that they reimburse the "copay" $2500 to us for having to replace radiator and transmission with only 88,000 miles!

Within last 3 weeks - had fuel sensor/catalytic converter replaced, then rad replaced and transmission flushed 3X - did not fix and now transmission shot. Total cost to date = $3000 (CDN). Another $3500 ++ to replace the transmission. Plus, enormous hassle of having vehicle towed 100 KMs to dealership 3 separate times. Nissan Canada will not do anything.

I was surprised to learn that extended warranty is VIN specific although as vehicle has 165,000 KMs (100,000 miles), I would not have qualified for the extended warranty. I would have expected at least 250,000 KMs before needing to sink huge repair dollars. Suffice to say, I would not ever buy or recommend a Nissan product. Conversely, I have had 3 Mazdas as a second vehicle and have been delighted.

Same issue as all others, drive a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder and was happy until 125tsd Miles never a big repair. Now I have the same issue, faulty radiator kills/silents the transmission. Did visit the dealer for every service even as the problem starts little by little. First an unpleasant shifting, Dealer recommends a transmission flush before the official service interval, done. After we are still not happy as we can tell the transmission shifts different as we did know it from before.

See the Nissan dealer again, they write the order with the customer complaint, “Customer complains about transmission problems”. Written Statement of the dealer, Transmission checked no issues found. Some miles later, total failure of the transmission, special the DCU. Good Customer, will not see now Dealer again but a lawyer.

Why are manufacturers allowed to sell faulty merchandise and nothing is done unless many lives are lost. Nissan motors knew there was a problem and they didn't care for us suckers. It started with the 2005 models and the still continuing to use these bad parts in the Pathfinder , the consumer report does nothing to protect the consumer. GM had to recall their bad cars, why didn't anyone make Nissan do the same?

Pathfinder SE 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,000 miles

My 2006 Pathfinder started making a rumbling noise. Next thing, BAM! It wouldn't even go into the next gear and came close to causing an accident while others had to merge around me while I had to try and pull over. I barely managed to get it to a transmission expert and he tells me that the radiator coolant leaked into the transmission by way of oil transfer lines. Out of no where!!

I'm disgusted reading how Nissan was aware of this problem. Nice to see they actually have a radiator/transmission hotline on their site and when I contacted them, they very nicely told me to go screw myself and that they are not going to cover S*it!. Bravo Nissan, and when I asked the date they sent the supposed "Notices"out to customers, she told me October 2012. Really? I proceeded to ask if she could verify that I received the letter and she told me that they have no record of the database of what customers received them. Go figure. I still owe 2 years on this POS and have to pay thousands for a rebuilt transmission. Oh yeah, let me just dip into my gigantic savings account and get that for you (ha)!

What is Nissan waiting for? Death and injury? Well if they keep waiting, that's what's going to occur. A recall needs to be put in place and Nissan needs to take accountability for the safety of those driving as well as other drivers. I will jump on the Class Act Lawsuit and I will wait........as long as it takes to receive a reimbursement that is owed to me. Irresponsible and Bad Business Practices Nissan!!

Nissan Knows of this issue it has resulted in a class action lawsuit The only positive thing I can say is my mechanic caught this before my transmission was destroyed. The repairs on this vehicle have been staggering I would advise anyone DO NOT BUY A NISSAN PRODUCT. Between 90 and 110 thousand miles I replaced (14 months) *U Joints *Transfer case *All four wheel bearings *Front Struts *complete radiator and heater core + transmission flush *U joints for 4WD drive shaft *front end steering components. Not to mention normal maintenance Tires brakes oil changes etc. *Currently the Fuel sending unit and fuel gauge sensor are not working. Another major issue involving a recall but only at 90K miles or less Estimate for repair $600+ DO NOT BUY A NISSAN PRODUCT Google any Nissan and the complaints problems and recalls and class action lawsuits are overwhelming

Passed 125,000 miles the other day and I have noticed that my transmission has been slight slipping from a complete stop. Sure enough, the cross contamination of the fluids made a new radiator and transmission necessary. The cost is $6000. I will never buy a Nissan again. Building a piece of sh*t is one thing, but not standing behind the product is another.

This transmission thing just happened to me last Thursday. Been without a car for almost a week. Had the car 2 months so far. My complaint is that I bought the extended warranty that covers transmission problems and 10 days worth a rental car. The warranty peoples response: A radiator is not covered in your warranty and since that caused the problem your S.O.L. Any help out there?

WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THE COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ONLY THING THEY CAN DO IS REPLACE IT AT THE COST OF $7,800. THEY SAID IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH PATHFINDERS BUT NO RECALL YET. WARRANTY IS DONE SO GOTTA PAY OUT OF POCKET AND EVEN IF I DID THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY THEY SAID SINCE THE MILEAGE IS HIGH.

I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX THIS NOR AFFORD TO GET A NEW LOAN FOR ANOTHER CAR. I DRIVE 50 MILES A DAY AND TRAVEL AT LEAST 2 HOURS A DAY TO AND FROM WORK. CATCHING THE BUS WILL BE A REALLY BIG ISSUE FROM WHERE I LIVE AND WHERE I WORK AS WELL AS AFFECT MY DAILY COMMITMENTS...THIS IS AWFUL AND PAINFUL...

Bought the vehicle 4 years ago, 2 months after purchasing the fuel pump went put 4 times, which they finally realized all the wiring for the pump was bad. 1 year after that the drive shaft went bad. Now the vehicle is currently parked because the transmission and radiator have to be replaced at the tune of $4,800.' I've tried contacting Nissan via email and telephone no luck yet. I'm extremely surprised s company like this does not stand behind their products. I also own a Chevy cobalt and Chevy pickup and I've never had an issue with either I will never buy a Nissan again!!!

Pathfinder ES 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,000 miles

I'm just putting in my "2 cents" worth and just agreeing with the rest of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder owners who found out at around the 95,000 mile marker, of the transmission starting to slip, and then taking in to the dealer and having them basically say sorry for your luck but if you want your car fixed, it's gonna cost ya, even though its Nissan's design failure.

When I took my Pathfinder to the dealer, of course, the dealer said nothing about the class action lawsuit. They implied that Nissan on their own, decided to extend the warranty for the transmission and that I was getting a "good deal" that with their warranty on my Pathfinder having 97,000 miles that it was only going to cost me $3,000, because if it was out of warranty it would be around $5K.

I went home to do some research and found out about (a) the class action lawsuit and (b) through internet forum that getting the transmission and radiator replaced, doesn't guarantee that the problem is fixed, as so many Pathfinder owners had to have their transmission replaced a year later!!!. So I didn't get my Pathfinder fixed, but instead went out the next day and bought a Toyota 4 runner. And I was amazed, as the very next day, as I was running errands, I didn't realize that the engine was getting hot, and I barely got it home as at every intersection when I stop, it wouldn't go into gear unless I pushed on the gas pedal and held it there.

VERY disappointed in Nissan for not facing up to this problem and not providing a recall. I was a very loyal Nissan customer but not anymore!!!! I'm going to be telling everyone I know that if they know anyone with a pathfinder to get rid of it NOW before the transmission goes out on them!!!!
