Electric Intake Valve Timing Control (eVTC) Module Dealer Inventory

Nissan is conducting a quality action to replace the electric intake Valve Timing Control (eVTC) module with a control module containing updated software on 2,194 specific MY2018 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles in new vehicle inventory. This quality action is limited to the following cold weather states: AK, CO, CT, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, ME, MI, MN, MT, ND, NE, NV, NY, OH, PA, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI, and WY. The current software installed may incorrectly illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) if certain cold start conditions are met.
Affected vehicles are not subject to stop sale and are either currently in dealer inventory or assigned and in transit to the dealer. Nissan requests dealers to remedy all affected inventory vehicles prior to sale to ensure customer satisfaction.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE ATTACHED REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this customer satisfaction initiative using Service Comm or DBS National Service History ? Open Campaigns I.D. PC624
- New vehicles in dealer inventory can also be identified using DBS (Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign).
- Refer to NPSB 15-460 for additional information
- Please continue to check newly arriving inventory for campaign applicability.
2. Use the attached procedure to replace the electric intake Valve Timing Control (eVTC) module.
- Nissan has developed and automatic parts shipment to provide affected dealers with enough parts to repair 50% of their affected inventory. Parts will begin arriving at dealerships on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
- A second automatic parts shipment will arrive at dealers the week ending May 25, 2018.
3. The service department should submit the applicable warranty claim for the action performed so it can be closed on Service Comm and release the vehicle.
