While driving about 25mph the airbag light on the dashboard stated blinking and the light showing the passenger air bag is off stayed on. I took the vehicle in to kingston Nissan for inspection and to diagnose the problem they said the OCS unit failed. And it need a OCS seat unit. I google this issue and saw that it was a recall for this vehicle. I contacted Nissan co sumer affairs filed a claim and they said they said they will not replace the part. Nissan dealer is charging me $1691 to replace the seat.

NHTSA campaign id 08V5210000 was issued recalling the 2008 Nissan Rogue for a faulty airbag sensor. Why when I own a 2008 Rogue, and the dealer has confirmed the OCS control unit faulty & now has failed, is Nissan not responsible for replacing it at their cost? they tell me it is because only a certain supplier was recalled even though they know the same part is the one that is faulty in my 2008 Rogue. This is a very serious issue and it was recalled on my make & model but because my VIN # was not included in the recall (I.e. not enough people complained), they refuse to offer any financial assistance to fix this issue. I have a 16 year old daughter who rides in the passenger seat for 50 miles to/from school everyday. This repair is $2500! it is a faulty part & Nissan needs to be held responsible for replacing all parts that are deemed faulty and fail. I informed Nissan that (heaven forbid) if I get into an accident & my daughter flies out the front windshield because of a faulty airbag sensor, you better believe it is on record & a lawsuit will be filed. Nissan is fully aware of this issue, as is your organization. But unfortunately you limit these recalls for the benefit of the big corporations instead of the safety of the people.

Air bag light started blinking out of nowhere. Didn't think much of it because my Sentra did this before too, but stopped. Finally brought it in because it wasn't going off and told by mechanic that there is a short in the spiral cable that will not deploy air bag. Electrical shorts can also cause fires. Nissan is refusing to fix it because it is not a current recall and we are just past warranty now - even though it started pre-expiration. This is not an issue affected by maintenance or anything we could've done wrong. It causes a safety issue in terms of fire and air bag deployment. Additionally, I was able to see many people with the same problem on the web. Unfortunately, they are all using a trick to get the light off, not realizing the air bag will not deploy if in an accident or car can start on fire.

The airbag light on dashboard came on. I have tried to reset a few times but it will not reset. Dealer wanted $130 to diagnose even though this problem occurred right after I had them fix another recall. Don't know if related or not. Dealer claims it isn't. email reply from the consumer (Sept 2, 2015): "I didn't repair it. The horn did not work but I sold the car."...updated 09/22/15 the consumer has since sold the vehicle. Shortly after purchasing a used 2008 Nissan Rogue the airbag light came on. From researching the matter online, it seems that many 2007-2008 Nissan vehicles were recalled for a faulty sensor in the passenger seat that cannot detect when anyone is sitting in that seat - in other words, not an issue with the airbag but with the seat sensor. However, the dealership we purchased the used vehicle from says our VIN number is not included in this recall, although our issue matches what is described in the recall and pertains to our year vehicle.

2008 Nissan Rogue airbag dashboard light signaled there was a problem on the dashboard. Dealer (Nissan chesapeake, located in chesapeake, va) stated the airbag diode was completely defective and the airbags could no longer deploy. Since the car had 62,300 miles on it, Nissan would not offer any warranty or financial assistance on the $1,400 bill to replace the diode. Dealer customer service representative was embarrassed that such a part was defective at such low mileage.

As reported by many other 2008 Nissan Rogue owners, the passenger side airbag sensor light was flashing, indicating a non-functional airbag (the entire airbag system, driver's side included, we found out later). This particular vehicle was not one of the 200,000+ vehicles recalled (08V521000) for the very same issue with the OCS (occupant classification system). The only fix, according to the dealer (and the subsequent multiple calls to Nissan Consumer Affairs), is to replace the entire passenger side seat. This is a safety issue because: 1) the passenger side sensor disables the entire airbag system, and 2) a very expensive fix ($1800-$2500) is required for a safety system sensor. In light of the nearly 1 million Nissan vehicles recently recalled (2014) for the exact same issue, the recall really should have applied not only to those initial 200,000+ vehicles, but all those vehicles with the same sensor system that they still have not gotten right. This is poor engineering at its best!

Air bag light came on, and remains on. I took the vehicle to the dealer, and they said it would cost $1,800 to repair, an indicator in the passenger seat was not working. I did ask about recalls, and they stated there were none. It seems there may have been a recall under NHTSA campaign number 08V521000. However, my VIN was not included in the recall because "the part was manufactured at a different plant". I believe as the same part is malfunctioning in the same vehicle recall, it was also manufactured incorrectly, and Nissan North America should repair it as a part of that recall.

I have called the Nissan recall line to put a complaint on my Nissan, rouge, recall no. Ntb08-095A and did not want to accept my claim since they state that my vehicle does not apply under this recall. My vehicle has this specific defect with the air bag and Nissan has stated clearly that they are wanting to fix this air bag (OCS) problem. This is a major safety issue that my vehicle has, on the passenger side air bag being suppressed which could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash. I am overly concern that if I do have an accident that I am not protected any of my family members will be hurt, I would like the NHTSA to advice me what I can do since this has been a recall that I have looked it up in the recall site of the NHTSA. Twice during April 2014 my 2008 Rogue was at the dealer to diagnose why passenger airbag light would not shut off. Was told by dealer that the code was in the past tense and they could not do any diagnostic testing since it was not an active code (B1018). Without doing any testing, I was told that to fix the problem they would need to replace the passenger front seat cushion ($2,500). Was told that Nissan recall 2008-10-07 did not apply to my vehicle. Filed a complaint with Nissan usa Consumer Affairs on 4/22/14 and requested that my vehicle be included in the recall since Nissan is aware of problems with airbags in the 2008 Nissan Rogues. Nissan refused my request and stated that airbags are secondary safety equipment and they would not fix the defect since seat belts are considered the primary safety feature. At this point I don't know if my airbag system is even operational since the light remains illuminated. Nissan has issued recalls on the Rogue and other models for defective airbags so I think the problem is impacting more vehicles than they realize and I don't feel I should be paying out of pocket to repair. What more can I do to get Nissan to step up and fix the problem?
