Rear differential seals leaked on brake assemblies. Gear oil was present on brake assemblies, wheels and tires. I replaced left and right side differential seals and bearings. An allignment was necessary and was performed.

While driving at 45 mph transmission drops out of gear and truck engine nearly red lines. Was unable to get completely off the road. After sitting for a few minutes was able to move the truck a few feet to get completely out of traffic. Had vehicle towed to Nissan dealer where they informed me that I had an intermix of coolant and transmission fluid. They stated that this was a common problem that they see and that Nissan extended the warranty to 80,000 miles but I am not covered. They quoted me $8700 to repair. Spoke to a few transmission shops and they all indicated that they encourage their Nissan clients to bypass the internal tranny cooler in the radiator with an external on when they reach 80,000 miles. They said the cost to do this is less than $300. Nissan knows of this and even lost a class action suit but has never informed anyone. For a $300 fix I am now out a truck and or $9000!!!! way to go Nissan!!

Traveling 20 to 25 mph, up a hill, in 4 wheel drive road conditions when there was a loud "bang". the rear of the vehicle immediately shifted to the right, striking a tree. Never would you expect a vehicle to brake in such a way as to throw you into oncoming traffic. I believe that this defect should be immediately investigated and a recall issued. Dealer service department determined that the front differential and transfer case had to be replaced due to catastrophic failure. The front axle had backed out resulting in fluid leaking out. I was told that this was a known defect that had been redesigned.

Sitting overnight with temperature in the 40's, when putting the automatic transmission into drive, it would keep dropping out of gear. The truck drove fine when manually shifting through the gears. Problem continued for most of a year but did not generate an error code. Finally developed an error code indicating problem in first gear of the transmission valve body with tcm. This required replacement of valve body internal to the transmission, which had been contaminated by an undetectable radiator to trans cooler leak also requiring the radiator to be replaced. I have been told this is not an uncommon problem, for which Nissan has done nothing, other than putting a special coating on bolts internal to the transmission to detect the presence of coolant. This problem can cause complete failure of the transmission. It could be easily prevent by the installation of a separate transmission cooler.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated after having NHTSA campaign I.D. numbers remedied on the vehicle 10V074000 (fuel system) and 10V517000 (engine). After the vehicle were repaired the power train was defective. The contact was unable to drive the vehicle off of the dealers parking lot. The vehicle would not move forward or in reverse. The dealer performed a diagnostic test that displayed a defect to the front brake solenoid. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the power train defect. The manufacturer stated the recall repair and the brake solenoid was unrelated. The contact did not have the solenoid repaired. The failure mileage was 122,000.

Heard noise in transfer case, took in to mechanic to have problem checked. Found out anti-freeze and trasmission fluid were mixed together. Transmission had to be rebuilt. After repair needed additional repair to repair transmission line that had came off.

I own a 2006 Nissan Titan with 47000 miles. Partial VIN "1N6ba07A0" while taking it to the local midas shop for an oil change. The mechanic pointed out a leak on left rear axle seal. They quoted me with $350 to replace the seal. However they also suggested to have the dealership attempt to replace under a recall/ warranty... the dealership quoted $1900 to replace the whole rear axle under the guidance from their technicians and it being over the manufactures warranty and/or no recall. Nissan replaced spacer axle (43070-7S200), bearing (40210-7S210), and seal (43252-7S200). As this seemed to be a very common problem with the Nissan Titan, Nissan should address this issue and offer a permanent fix so weould not be faced with the safety issue in the future."

Today I found that my rear axle oil seals are leaking. It is so bad that the oil is getting on the rear brakes. Which makes sense considering I have noticed that my rear brakes are not functioning properly. This problem needs to be addressed with better oil seals so that this does not happen to anyone else.

Left rear axle seal blew out and leaked differenital fluid. Differential fluid leaking on rear brake rotor which could cause brake failure. This is a major safety concern to me. The leaking differential fluid will caused the rear differential to fail. This seems to be a very common problem with the Nissan Titan, Nissan should address this issue and offer a permanent fix so Titan owners would not have to deal with this safety issue in the future.

When the vehicle stopped moving, the drive shaft fell out. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The rear axle and differential were replaced. Two years later the vehicle began to leak differential fluid. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 100,000.

First of all, I would like to say that my truck has high miles.I purchased it new, dealer serviced only.in fact my truck was serviced by a dealer in miami on 3-28-13 for oil change, the day before I lost my transmission because of, what I now know to be common place, a $5 cooling tubing that goes to the transmission. My first thought was maybe the tech at the dealer broke the tubing since its inches away from the oil filter and my vehicle was serviced there hours before I lost all my fluid, therefore burning up my transmission, you would think that the dealers would check the tubing since its right in the tech's face while conducting oil changes. Oh well, my truck was well maintained, still looks great, totally loaded le, my tranny went down without warning, this will cost me around $6000.I`M a Nissan man, I just purchased the new 2013 pathfinder for my wife back in December before it even appeared on the streets, should I have fears about defects with this one " what's going on Nissan " [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
