Within the past month, both front windows and one back window registers are all in need of replacing in my 2001 X-terra, with less than 50,000 miles. And obviously it is now out of warranty.

Within a three week period the driver, passenger and rear power windows stopped operating. The windows would go down, but would not go all the way up.
- San Antonio, TX, USA
The window regulators in all 4 windows of my 2001 Xterra have all faild repeatedly. The drivers window has failed 4 times and all other windows have been replaced 3 times. Now today the window regulator in the drivers side has failed again and I am 300 miles out of warranty. The dealer indicated to me that this is considered a normal wear and tear item and no longer covered. The dealer also indicated that this is a problem that Nissan is aware of and something that happens "all the time" with the Xterra.

In April, both front window regulators went out in our 2001 Xterra. We had both replaced for $400 and Nissan did reimburse us the cost of the motor, not labor. Then in June, both rear window regulators have gone out and we have yet to get them fix or the situation resolved with Nissan.

I have a 2001 Nissan Xterra, purchased in July 2001. The window regular motor quit working on one of the rear windows, with less than normal use. This happened within 100 miles out of warranty.
- Floyds Knobs, IN, USA
I've had problems with my window regulators since they day I purchased my vehicle. For the first three months I couldn't use my front windows because the regulators were on national backorder. All my windows have not worked at some point due to this regulator problem, I think I've had it in as many as six times to get the windows looked at. I am now out of warranty and one of the windows (that I just had checked out six weeks ago) is not working. I've contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs to find out what they'll do to compensate me....still waiting to hear back.

Three electric window motors failed in Nissan Xterra
- Edgewater, FL, USA
Regulators in both windows have failed in the last 8 months. Upon searching, I did not find any recall notices nor did the manufacturer notify me that there was a problem.the driver's side regulator was used quite often, but the passenger side window was rarely used and it still failed within 2 years of owning the vehicle.
- Tempe, AZ, USA
The front and rear passenger window regulators did not work. The dealer stated, there was no warranty and they would not replace the part.
- Mount Alto, WV, USA
My car is a 2001 Nissan X-terra, purchased in August of 2001. The window regulators on both front windows and the rear driver's side have stopped working. All three failures happened within three weeks of each other. The fourth window is showing signs of impending failure, e.g. popping and sluggish behavior. The car has been owned and operated for only 22 months, with nothing other than normal usage. I am out of warranty and Nissan is stating the problem is normal wear-and-tear requiring $1600 to fix the 4 windows.

The power windows did not functioning properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated the regulators were off track which caused the problem with the electric motor.
