The blinkers only work 5 % of the time. I have almost been hit in the rear several times due to this issue. Neither blinker will work. I notice a recall was done on the 2001 olds Alero for this problem. I have a 2004 olds Alero that is having the same issue. The blinkers do not work due to a defective hazard warning light switch. A recall should be done on 2004 olds Alero.

That's not the way I understand recalls. I don't buy something, but it should be they fix something. I've never heard of a dealer arguing with the customer about something like this either, but I'm going to seek legal advice. However, I felt it was necessary to contact you first, based on the language of the recall notice.

Eventually I will be unable to start the engine. I had a similar problem with my 1992 olds except the engine finally would not turn-off. I had to drop it off at a local auto repair shop running, and they replaced the ignition switch for $150.

The dealer stated the fuel pump would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reocured shortly after. The dealer fuel pump would need to be repaired again. The vehicle was taken to another dealer. The dealer then stated the failure was caused because of a defective ignition switch. The vehicle was repaired. The failure did not reocured. The failure mileage was 107,650.

The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic who was unable to locate a problem. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000. Rk updated 4/22/14 the consumer stated the vehicle experienced a loss of steering and would not continue to run. The dealer advised the ignition was the cause of the failure. Updated 04/24/2014
