I just replaced the fuel rail and a fuel pressure valve on 10/16/2003 because of a leak. It didn't cause a fire, but was very dangerous. My car is a '95 Oldsmobile Aurora. The repair cost was $846.52.

I own a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora (VIN [xxx]). due to fuel leaks, about a month ago I had the fuel rail replaced at E & D auto service in dearborn mi. Today I read in the detroit news about the NHTSA investigation of this failure. The leaks were in the plastic section of the rail as described in the detroit news article: www.detnews.com/2003/autosinsider/0311/03/autos-314583.htm information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While having my oil changed it was pointed out that my fuel line was spraying fuel all over the engine compartment. Very small pin hole but a steady stream of fuel. Upon further investigation found that the injector line was spraying fuel also. I never paid attention before but I can't believe that GM would use plastic for a fuel line anyway maybe this is standard I'm no mechanic but at what GM wants for the parts and then to have them put on maybe I should be. Of course GM is the only place you can buy the fuel parts too imagine that! well hopefully I'm not the only one having this problem and GM will do something about the defects.

Fuel line and fuel rail failure causing gasoline to be spray onto engine. Fuel rail failure caused larger amounts of gasoline to vaporize into a cloud appearing as steam. Any electrical spark could have caused explosion and fire.

Heat shrink fuel injection line between #6-#8 injectors developed a hole and spraying fuel onto intake and ignition wiring. The car smelled of gas inside and the motor was hard to start and backfires some. I've done a temporary repair and have not bought all new rail tubing. This should not be happening at this point. It is too costly for owners to repair for such a small problem.

Nylon fuel lines that feed into fuel injectors developed a hole, and were leaking fuel. Local repair shop performed the service on vehicle.

The heat shrink fuel lines connecting the fuel injectors developed a pin hole leak and sprayed fuel into the engine compartment. I replaced the bad section of the fuel rail line the first time at 80,000 miles. The second time happened yesterday with a pin hole leak in another section of the heat shrink tubing of the fuel rail connecting the injectors. It again sprayed fuel into the engine compartment until I smelled the gas inside the car. These defects seem to me to be very dangerous, and since it has happened twice to me, I think the fuel line material is defective and needs to be recalled. I
