I have had to twice replace the head gasket due to it failing, causing a major oil leak. Both times parts have been almost impossible to obtain. When checking with Chrysler dealers in a 5-state area, all of acknowledged a multiplicity of occurences of this nature. One dealer at one time had 5 different Neons in his garage at the same time for the same problem. I have had service technicians with Chrysler dealers acknowledge that there does seem to be a defect with the original, but Chrysler has refused to look into it. The car was only 18 months old at the time of the first failure, although it did have 45, 000 miles on it. Chrysler did not offer any assitance, even though I was told by numerous mechanices, that this problem should not be happening at that few of miles. I feel that this problem should be looked into. Although my mechanic advised that it does appear that Chrysler has upgraded the gasket recently, I feel that I have spent over $800 in repairs that I should not have had to at this point and time with the car. Other than this problem, I have been very pleased with the car. Numerous attempts to obtain satisfation from the dealer were without any assistance. Thank you.

There is definitly a problem with 1995-1997 Neons blowing head gaskets due to poor design. Chyrsler is aware of the situation and doing nothing to recifiy. Eventually someone will get seriously hurt due to this flaw in design. I have researched this problem endless and have first hadn experience as I own a 1996 Plymouth Neon and had to have the head gasket replaced. This needs to be looked into....and soon.....
