Bonneville SE 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 81,000 miles

The 2002 Bonneville is just about as bad as the 2000 Bonneville that I owned and traded in within 65 days of owning it. My rear drivers side window simply fell down one day. Trust me in Minnesota this is not a good thing and of course if fell down when the rain finally came. My panel is off the door, we decided to leave it off until I can afford to get it fixed since it was such a pain to get off. I apparently need the new motor and regulator. I love driving past the dealership that I got it from with all the duct tape on the inside and the outside of the window to keep it from falling down.

Oh and I did forget to say that in addition to my earlier complaint ... it just so happens that the problem I am having is also with the right rear window coming down by itself and wont go back up. Has tape on it, and I am very upset to know it might happen to another window. I guess the car salesman saw me coming. Everyone knew about this but me. This manufacturer should be very ashamed of themselves. What oh what can we do??? Any suggestions? Do I hear "CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT" .... Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the oil, at least thats what I was told. I truly wish I could get out of this mess with this Bonneville.

Bonneville SEL V6

I have had all four windows worked on twice. Each window was better than $250 each time. I have had no other problems with the car. I do my own maintenance and enjoy the car. I just don't get the windows. The vehicle just turned 78,000 miles. I talked to several people at GM, all gave me the run around.

Bonneville SLE 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

The driver's side rear window just fell down - middle of a Minnesota Winter!!! Not good! Luckily I had an extended warranty and only had to pay my deductible but would have been very spendy otherwise. The Pontiac Bonneville is definitely a crappy car, I will never buy another pontiac again.

Bonneville SLE 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission

This problem I have not yet had fixed nor have I had a quote on repairs because I already know it will cost thousands! After all I went through with the rear window falling down, the driver's side switches quit working!! All switches including the power locks, windows, power mirrors, etc. Then the rear windows quit working a few days later, then the passenger's side quit working a few days after that, and now my keyless entry doesn't work and the radio does NOT shut off when the car is not running!!! This is the most unbelievable crap I have ever had happen to me! This comes a little over a year after my rear window fell down and I had the regulator replaced. Now what?!! - there is obviously a major failure in the wiring system. The system seems to be failing on a daily basis and everyday I have a new electrical problem!!! I hate this car, I hate pontiac, I can not believe there isn't a recall or at least a better more cost effective solution. It is obvious that GM failed miserably in their design and I will never trust GM again -this is my second pontiac, and my second piece of crap car. Before the first pontiac I owned a Toyota Camry - greatest car in the world. I know what I will be buying next - can't wait to get rid of this car!

Bonneville SLE 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,000 miles

This is my 5th Bonneville, my 6th Pontiac, and my 8th GM vehicle. Without a doubt the 2002 Pontiac Bonneville SLE I have is the worst quality vehicle I ever owned, and that includes a Ford Mustang II! Bought new in 2002, the vehicle has been garaged and has only 44,000 miles. Since the warranty ended at 36,000, I have had a wiring problem where the trunk circuit went out, and both rear power windows fail, one regulator failed. Time to get rid of this turkey - for what it is costing now, I could be driving a Lexus!

Nice work GM - you PO'd a 30 year customer to where they won't even consider your cars anymore. Great job!

I'm so upset about this happening to my newly purchased, unwarranteed, about to make my 2nd payment vehicle! Only my 2nd payment. I was in tears. This autobeef page has left me feeling no better. I wish I has never purchased this car. I pray that God will help me out of this horrible mistake in choosing this car with all these complaints about window defects! I am a christian, so I have to forgive the manufacturer, but it would be nice if they will recall this vehicle to help those of us who do suffer. Dear Pontiac powers that be... have mercy!!!!!!

Bonneville SLE 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

Both rear window regulators came apart and the windows dropped within several months of each other. Currently holding them up with close pin wedges. I was told there is no recall. I feel this is a an expensive and unnecessary expense because it obviously is due to a bad engineering design.

Bonneville

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,120 miles

I was driving over a speed bump when I heard a loud bang. My right, rear window had fallen down about 6 inches. The GM dealer said it would cost between $350 and $600 to fix as the cable is built into the regulator and you have to buy the full regulator assembly. In all my years of owning cars, I have never had this type of problem. It seems to be a common problem with the Pontiac Bonneville. A mechanic at a small garage pulled the window up and stuck a piece of cardboard to hold it in place until I can get it fixed.

Never had the problem repaired. Contacted GM to find out how to remove panel so I could permanently put window up as this is the 3rd time (different windows) this has happened. GM told me to take it to the dealer ($489). No thanks. Anyone know how to take the panel off so I can jam the window shut in the up position.

This is the last GM I will ever buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bonneville SLE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Yesterday I was driving back from a store in our neighborhood and heard a sound at the right rear of the car. I thought someone had thrown something at the car. I stopped and noticed the right rear window was down, even though I did not put it down. It would not go back up. Had it diagnosed and repaired today. The cable on the window regulator assembly snapped. How it does this happen without use is only something a GM window engineer could answer. The cable is built into the regulator and cannot be solely replaced. You have to buy a full regulator assembly to the tune of $350.00 from GM or find an aftermarket model. Will run $400 - $450 total. Judging by the descriptions I've seen on this site, GM/Pontiac obviously has a problem.

My passenger rear window fell and motor stopped working. About a month later my other rear passenger window fell. It's very aggrivating. Now I have to come up with about $600 to fix both windows. Or at least that's what I have been told it will cost by a friend who had the same problem with his windows in his Bonnevelle. I am beginning to think Bonnevelle's are a piece of junk car even though they are supposed to be on the higher end. I dont think I will ever buy one again.
