Same issue as cadilac recall for passenger presence module defect..will not detect passenger presence in seat, passenger airbag light stays off...airbag will not deploy in an accident.

"service airbags" screen keeps popping up on dashboard. I've noticed many others with a Pontiac G5 2007 or Chevy cobalt have the same issue. When the light is on, I was told by a dealership, that the airbags will not deploy. The passenger seat doesn't register anyone sitting on the seat even when someone is sitting and buckled up.

Air bags did not deploy on a Pontiac G5 2007 2D. My 20 yr old college student son was driving on the 101 fwy, where the car to his left switched lane to come in front of my son's car, other driver had a sudden brake. My son collided into the car in front of him at speed of 40-50mph but air bags didn't deploy. He was wearing the seat belt, however, he is now being treated for neck and back injury, can't drive to school and the aaa insurance company declared the car as total loss due to major frontal damage.
