Consumer received recall notice 00V287000/ engine starter. Consumer took it to dealer. Dealer advised consumer that parts were not in, and they would notify consumer when parts came in. It has been almost 60 days since consumer spoke to dealer.

After receiving a recall notice for ignition switch vehicle caught on fire. Vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. Consumer asked dealer if fire was caused by ignition switch recall, but dealer told consumer that fire had started at starter, and not at ignition switch.

Recall 00V207000/ manufacturer's recall 00079; vehicle won't start unless holding key in start position. Dealer claimed vehicle needed a new fuel pump, and wanted to charge $744.28. Consumer received a recall issued in December, and kit was not available until March. Consumer has contacted Pontiac, and they were trying to work with consumer, believing she might have a case.

Recall 00V287000/ ignition switch: Vehicle experienced a problem with a clicking sound upon starting vehicle, and asked dealer to inspect vehicle. Service manger Mr. Ron capaldi replied that if diagnostic showed that problem was not part of recall consumer would be billed for that inspection. Consumer turned key in the ignition to start vehicle & it started smoking. Consumer turned vehicle off and got out to call someone. Consumer was notified that vehicle had flames coming from it. Vehicle was totalled. Consumer will be contacting the manufacturer.

Had parked vehicle in garage. Heard horn go off. Husband opened door to check & flames shot out. Called fire department. Fire was extinguished. Inside of vehicle was destroyed. Fire department indicated fire originated in the ignition switch due to a short in the electrical wires.
