The airbag warning light on the dashboard just came on and continues to be on ever since. We are told by our mechanic that the front driver and front passenger airbags are now compromised and may not be deployed if in a crash because there is a short in the open circuit at the squid circuit. This was not due to any accident, collision, etc.; the light just came on.

The manufacturer confirmed that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13V133000 (air bags) or NHTSA campaign number: 13V029000 (air bags). The dealer was not notified of the defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 133,111.
