The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. While attempting to drive the vehicle, there was a ticking noise coming from the engine and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dallas Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (11550 lyndon B johnson fwy, dallas, tx 75238, (214) 327-9361) where it was diagnosed that the manifold bolts detached and needed to be replaced. Exhaust manifold bolts have broken off right side of the engine. Left side broke off in 2015 and were replaced under warranty. Statement of defective bolts was the reason and when asked to replace both sides of the engine with the new bolts, the dealership stated they were good bolts. Dealership detected the exhaust leak and broken bolt on 5/09/18.

Ram 1500 2012 5.7 hemi began with a "squeak" coming from the underside of the engine/bell housing. Diagnosed as a camshaft/lifter problem. Engine only has 77749 miles. Understand that this is a common problem with the hemi.

Infamous hemi ticking; on cold start there's a pronounced ticking that goes away after about 15 min of running. Found exhaust manifold bolt had sheered; had it replaced with new bolts and gasket but the ticking is still there. Mechanics say there's nothing wrong with the vehicle however the ticking is ridiculously annoying. Read that it may be exhaust leak however, nothing can be found that needs repair. This has been going on for over a year now.

2012 ram1500 - 74,250 miles. Started on 3/5 - got off the highway to gas up. Filled it and then check engine light came on. Believed it to be "gas cap" issue, since I just gassed up. Brought it to a auto parts store for a quick check. P303. Engine misfire cylinder 3. initially replaced ignition coil, then spark plugs, no change in issue. Each time the light came on, I was driving above 50 mph. Taken it again to two auto parts stores, and each gave the same error code of P303. Taken it car repair center, they diagnosed, engine misfire too, but also seen in other cylinders. Replaced all ignition coils and all spark plugs, same issue. Cleaned fuel system 2X believing it was carbon build up, still check engine light, same error code. Advised by shop to contact Ram trucks, not the dealer to ask for assistance, they, the shop, indicated that the issue they see, is the cams and lifter not working, and it is a "known" issue. Contacted Ram trucks, they opened a case and directed me to take to a dealership to get it diagnosed as the first step. In talking with the service manager, he said, the engine is misfiring at "idle" not at higher speeds. They are going to work on an estimate for two possible solutions, one being the cams/lifters and the other was something else, my fault for not getting that other, but believing it is the cam/lifter issue. At this time waiting on determination. But unsure what help, if any, will be offered for this issue. Research on this site and others indicate quite a lot of problem with "ticking" or cams/lifters.

2012 Dodge Ram 1500 express 2wd / 2 door truck. On March 21, 2018 at 9:00 am, I had a fire in the center of my steering wheel by my airbag. I took the truck to the dealer and they told me that my entire electrical wire harness caught on fire for no apparent reason. I called my insurance company and they told me they will only cover normal wear and tear. I believe this is a assembly and manufacturing issue with these vehicles now made in Mexico by inexperience and incompetent people working at Chrysler new manufacturing plant for cheap foreign slave labor in Mexico. The entire wire harness from my steering wheel all the way to my engine through the fire wall needs to be replaced now costing me well over $2200. The main wire harness is now a lot thinner wires and not protected from coming into heat or contact and weather conditions in the engine area. My main electrical wire harness in my truck caught on fire on me on Wednesday March 21, 2018 at 9:00 am. I just wanted to report this issue to you.

The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. While the vehicle was idling in the park position, the engine inadvertently shut off and the air bag, throttle control, trailer brake, check engine, and other warning indicators illuminated. The contact, a certified Chevrolet independent mechanic, diagnosed that the fuse block opened up and caused the power train relay to shut down. The fuse block needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,730.

Cylinder 5 missfire-camshaft: Check engine light came on while driving on interstate 10 in Louisiana. I noticed that the power had reduced, fuel economy dropped, and the engine was shaking, the entire truck was shaking like a tire was about to blow out. After exiting and finding the near O'reily, I was told to change the spark plugs, and ignition coil #5 as well as the fuel injector. After all that was replaced, the light was still on and flashing the same code. I had the truck towed to a nearby dealership and after their diagnostics test was complete, they reported back with replacing the camshaft! this vehicle has less than 100,000 miles and a 5.7 hemi. It will also be a major out of pocket expense due to the warranty expiring April 2017. It will have to be fixed before we put it back on the road due to the safety hazard and I have two car seats.

Engine stalls intermittently on initial start attempt and during low speed going through intersections & accelerating on interstate entrance ramps. Immediate loss of driving control with limited brakes and manual steering to avoid traffic. Placing vehicle in park and ignition key to off vehicle woud restart. Ram dealership recommended replacing win module and I have had no reoccurences since, (45 days). Their is no recall out for this make and model but it has been noted as a part failure on other Chrysler vehicles. This is a real safety hazard as driving is difficult requiring above normal arm strength to get vehicle off the road. I have contacted chryler customer care and awaiting their response.

In the morning when engine is first started their is a knocking noise under the hood for about 10 min and then goes away. Also if truck sits too long the knocking noise will happen again for about 10 mins. 5.7 hemi engine. Many complaints from owners regarding this noise and concerned that I will have to pay for a known issue that has been known to the dealer and government for quite sometime now.

While driving vehicle from speeds 0 - 40mph a "whirling/whining" noise that sounds like it is coming from the middle of the truck and is only heard when driving the vehicle, the noise is not present when car is parked or stopped at a light. I have $160,000 miles on truck and it has just started making this noise in the last 3 weeks. I see others have complained about this same problem and it should be recalled on all trucks. We have just bought a 2017 Ram truck and that will be our third Ram truck and am upset that nothing has been done about this problem yet

I have been hearing a ticking sound coming from my engine these past few weeks. I looked into the matter and have found issues with the manifold bolts that are breaking off and causing this problem. I contacted Dodge of gilroy today and they state they have not heard of any issues regarding this engine hemi 5.7. however, after looking at this website, it appears they're many issues. This needs to become a recall, as it is a danger of exhaust fumes entering the cab.

While driving my 2012 Ram 1500 my truck seemed to lag going up hill from about 10mph up till about 40 or so. Looked down at the dash and noticed that the truck was showing that it was in 4th gear. Tried using the steptronic shifter to put into a lower gear and it would not switch. Pulled off into a parking lot and turned off my truck and waited a bit and then turned back on again. Shifted into reverse with no issue but drive was still showing 4th gear.

Engine ticks and lags/hesitate under throttle receive error code P0308, dealership recommended a tune up but did not resolve problem. Still hesitates under throttle. Did extensive research on-line and this is a common problem with the engine and costly to consumers and dangerous. In my case, I was entering a highway with my 2 kids. I was on the frontage road going about 40 mph as I entered the on ramp of the freeway to get to the speed limit of 60 mph. When I accelerated the engine started to hesitate and almost stalled causing the vehicles on the freeway to slam on his/her breaks and swerve to go around me. Fortunately, the cars behind me did not ran into me or anyone else causing a major accident as this occurred during rush hour on a major freeway.

I've had my 2012 Ram 1500 for almost 3 years now. It just started making a ticking noise coming from the engine. From when I start to when I turn it off. I've done may research and I'm not the only one that has this issue. I'm a die hard Ram fan. This needs to get recalled.
