Engine Surge Or Hard Start (X63 Warranty Extension)
This bulletin involves replacing the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve, if code P0404
is set.
Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further
investigation the technician may find the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) has
been set in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM):
· P0404 - EGR Position Sensor Performance - (Exhaust Gas Recirculation).
In addition, the customer may notice the following condition(s) due to the P0404 DTC
being set:
· An occasional engine surge can be felt.
· Engine is hard to start at times.
