Steering shaft torque sensor (23232310 sensor kit) was replaced under the special warranty 3 years ago. This is failing again, so GM obviously still hasn't fixed the problem with this critical safety component. I again have intermittent power steering shaking, partial or complete loss. GM won't recall or cover this critical item even though it still has an obvious problem

The electronic steering assist will lose power so essentially will cause the power steering to go out at any given time. The current temporary remedy is to, turn off the key and wait. Restart the vehicle and the power steering will resume. I discovered this doing online research finding that this was a common recall for this vehicle in 2008 and 2009. But the date of manufacture for this vehicle. Was in 08/2008 making it a little over 1 month from being eligible for the recall. I contacted GM but was unable to talk to a live person and 2 GM dealers one of which previously sold the car, and got no results. This started out as a vibration and wobble in the steering wheel and has progressively gotten worse. The power steering so far has gone out upon starting the vehicle. My online research has named the recall on the same vehicle part malfunction as power steering electric assist.

The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the power steering assist failed and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as a steering assist malfunction. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V252000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system, exterior lighting, vehicle speed control, electronic stability control). The contact called greiner Buick GMC (14555 civic dr, victorville, ca 92394) and was informed that the recall repair would not be serviced because of the high mileage of the vehicle. The contact contacted the manufacturer and was informed that due to the high mileage on the vehicle, the recall repair would not be performed. The failure mileage was 157,000.

The car was exiting the offramp at 70 mph when the power steering went out wile trying to execute a left turn with no power steering. I had a conversation with Saturn customer assistance center and the recall was turned into a # 15356 special coverage adjustment. I am on the GM corporate newsroom site where they state that it is a recall with my year vehicle. They also make a statement that by the V.P. jeff boyer in a looks like a press release to NHTSA regarding the recall. Jeff boyer states" 'with these safety recalls and lifetime warranties, we are going after every car that might have this problem, and we are going to make it right, ' said jeff boyer, vice president, GM global vehicle safety. 'we have recalled some of these vehicles before for the same issue and offered extended warranties on others, but we did not do enough.' Is he lying for my son driving the vehicle claimed it was a real issue. This was written on 3-31-2014. This is a safety issue and GM should take care of it regardless of the mileage and year which was not stated in this news release. Be the driver when this occurs it is very hard to control.

I pulled into a driveway and when I came out the power steering wasn't working at all. I had no warning about this, it just happened. Now it is happening every day and several times a day. The steering wheel shakes while I'm idling and shakes and pulls when driving. I had no problem or any kind of warning that this was going to happen. I am 58 yrs old and my mother is 85 yrs old and we share the car. I can barely steer it when it goes out, there is no way my mom could turn the wheel.. it first happened when I was parked, when I came out and started the car it was not working at all. The next several times it has gone out it's usually while driving and after having to make some tight turns or U-turns. Today it went completely out while I was driving slowly on the interstate.

Power steering goes out intermitantly and without warning. Great effort required to maintain steering in straight line and turning almost impossible. Just missed hitting another vehicle while turning today but has happened a number of times in the last 3 months. There is a service bulletin from GM to repair for free but it expired last year but the vehicle and others like it are still on the road after this "expiration" with an unsafe defect

Anti theft light is on, disabling my car. When the anti theft light comes on all other dash lights flicker and my needles go up and down. My message board states all pwoer steering, service ESC, and low tire air messages. I have replaced my intermediate shaft, steering column, and my BCM & nothing is working. Ive taken my car to the chev dealership for all services and they do not want to work on it anymore because they cannot determine the issue. Single mom stuck without a car now, bc GM will not recall this car for this issue

Driving on the highway. Message on the dashboard "power steering/service ESC". power assist steering stopped functioning while driving, making it very difficult to steer. Drove approximately 5 miles with no power steering assist. Turned the car off. Restarted the car approximately 3.5 hours later - message was no longer on the dashboard and power steering assist was functioning. This situation is similar to various complaints recorded on "carcomplaints.com/Saturn/Aura/steerig/steering.shtml".

I had driven my 2009 Saturn Aura in the morning with no problem and parked it in a parking lot at my workplace. When I was about to go home I started my car and the power steering light came on and I checked the steering and I had no power steering. I turned my car off and waited a couple of minutes and then restarted my car. The power steering message had gone away and the power steering worked. I drove down the road a turned my car off to do an errand. When I came back and restarted my car the power steering message came back and I didn't have power steering again because the steering wheel was stiff. I turned the car off again and restarted it a few minutes later. The power steering was working again. I started to drive home and about 7 to 10 minutes later the power steering didn't work again so I pulled over on the side of the road. After pulling over to the side of the road I turned my car off the turned it back on a few minutes later. The power steering was working again. I drove a couple of minutes and then the power steering turned off again. So I pulled over again. This time when I started my car the power steering didn't turn on again so I drove the rest of the way home with no power steering. I found a recall notice on a website. Here is the link: Https://www.cars.com/research/Saturn-Aura-2009/recalls/ looks like the recall number is 14V153000. When I called GM and Saturn on their toll free number they customer service representative said that my car was not part of the recall. I don't understand why that would be because the symptoms of the recall are identical to my car's symptoms. Thank you.

Power steering intermittently goes out. Works after restarting vehicle. Had scheduled appointment on Dec 27th to fix power steering issue. Was under recall issued warranty. Missed appointment after transmission went out. Was diagnosed bu mechanic who fixed transmission. Took it to GM dealership. Diagnosed it with same problem. Refused to honor warranty because it expired on the 31st. And was diagnosed a week later. Even though had said issue before it expired and confirmation emails to prove it.
