Vehicle's engine shut off while operating, however electrical remains on. Usually happens going over speed bumps at low speeds. Had to turn off and restart engine to operate. Incident occurred 2 times in 2009. Didn't give much thought until it started to recur in 2012. Has happened 3-4 times since. Also key gets stuck when trying to shut vehicle off. The key getting stuck when trying to shut off has occurred almost daily for the past 4 months. Didn't realize the incidents were related until I heard about the Saturn recall on ignition switches and heard about similar problems.

There has been at least 4 times that while my car was idling at either a red light, stop sign, or what have you, my car would just shut off after making a rough idling noise. This scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. If I were to shut my car off & turn it back on, it would then go away. It made me weary of driving because you never knew when or where that could happen. The second incident would be my power stewing. My car would "ding" and the power steering light would come on making my wheel stiffen up immediately. Again, if I would turn the car off and then back on again, the problem would stop... for a little bit. Started off at once or twice a week, then once a day maybe, now I can't even go a block from my house without it coming on. Frustrating and dangerous to say the least.

In the first week of March I called my dealership about the ignition recall and was told to wait until I got a recall notice. In mid-March I received a recall notice and was told that the parts were not in and to call at the end of March. I called at the end of March and was told that the parts were not in and I should call the beginning of April. I called the beginning of April and was told the parts were on order and I should call the next week. I called the next week and the parts were not in. Last week I received a notice that I had not responded to the recall notice and received another recall notice this week. When I called today I was told that they had no record of my prior calls and would have to order the parts. GM is conducting a fraudulent recall and trying to shift the burden of liability to the consumer and shift the burden of proof for any liability to the consumer for not complying with the recall, when the recall is illusory. I want this noted on the record.

I hit a bump in the road and my car shut off - keys became stuck in ignition switch. I already had to have my ignition switch repaired, but nobody seems to be able to tell me how to get reimbursed, and I have not received any notification to do so, even though we were told we would receive information about this the first week of April. I have tried to call your contact numbers but always get a run-around and they all say you have to wait until the letter comes out the first week of April. The first week of April has past and I have not received any notification on how to get my reimbursement. I would like for someone to let me know how to get my form for reimbursement.

2006 Saturn Ion. Consumer writes in regards to ignition problems. The consumer is seeking reimbursement for the ignition replacement he paid for last year. On Friday April 19, 2013, the consumers wife and daughter parked the vehicle and tried to turn the vehicle off. But, the vehicle would not turn off. In fact, the key would not turn in any direction at all. In order to shut the vehicle off, the consumer pulled a fuse, the next day, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, and once again, the vehicle could not be turned off. The dealer informed the consumer, they had to break the key off to remove the ignition cylinder and replaced it.

I had the ignition switch replaced about 4 months ago prior to the recall announcement. The air bag light had been going on and off ever since I bought the car. It was found at that time that a add on passive kill switch relay had been placed in the air bag relay location. Not long after the key would not come out of the ignition and the car could not be turned off which is when I took it to an auto repair shop who replaced it with another ignition. Now, the air bag light has been coming on while driving and then going off again. It looks like GM is still selling the faulty ignitions. I have received the recall notice. It says however that they do not have the working parts with no indication of when this deadly part can be replaced. What is one to do" yes, I saw their statement that we should park the car until the repair can be made - when ever, if ever, they bother to have the parts. How do I get around until then??? have there been any other reports of the issue that I reported on this site prior of the alarm going off at random times - no strong winds, trucks going by or persons around the vehicle even though I do not set the alarm on" I had to disconnect the battery until I got it to the shop days later but since it was not doing it then they could not find the issue. I suspect the entire electrical system in the Ion is faulty.

Beginning in 2009 through today 4/10/2014 my daughter's Saturn Ion has had ignition problems and intermittent air bag light problems. All of the problems noted in the recall from GM apply to her car. She has contact GM via email throughout 2010 including customer service, a Mr. Henderson and a Mr. Reuss. We have copies of these emails. No one would help her even though she mentioned that she feared for her life. These incidents were life threatening. She has been to 2 GM dealerships over the years to get these items fixed and received no help from the dealership either. They said they can't find a problem. She needs help from someone and I hope that is you. Thank you. Respectfully,

At random my car beeped and the power steering indicated on the dash and my car became hard to maneuver. Within a two week period my car has had power steering failure 4 times. First occurrence: I was making a turn from one road to another. Second occurrence: While coming to a stop at a stop sign coming to an end on an off ramp from the interstate. The third occurrence: Driving on a 45mph road, approaching a curve. Forth occurrence: On the interstate traveling at 70mph with cruise control set with heavy traffic around me. Each time I had to either stop on the road, pull off the road to the shoulder or make due till I found an area to stop, to turn the car off and restart again, after restarting the car the steering became very loose and just as hard to maneuver.
