Problem has been happening since around 2008 (maybe sooner). The air bag warning light will come on while driving, and turn off/on at random while driving at almost any speed. I've taken the vehicle to the dealer multiple times and reported the problem, and each time that are unable to reproduce the problem. This is a constant issue, yet the dealer can never find an error code on the computer or reproduce the problem, even when they kept the vehicle for multiple days.

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. While driving approximately 30 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated. In addition, the front passenger air bag warning light delayed to illuminate approximately ten minutes after the seat was occupied. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000. MA 08/13/15 the consumer stated the air bag light on the dash did not come on all the time. The passenger side air bag light would not illuminate for approximately 10 minutes after driving and the speed has reached 30 mph. The passenger and driver side air bags intermittently illuminate at different times. Updated 12/1/2015

I was driving and a truck stopped in front of me very quickly I didn't have time to stop. I hit the back end of the truck. Which had the tailgate lowered. The tail gate went through the whole front end of my car. Completely totaling my car. As a result my leg was pinned I suffered a concussion and whiplash as I hit my head on the staring wheel. My airbags didn't deploy driver or passenger side. The indicator light on the dash said the air bag was off for passenger side. I had a passenger in the car and neither air bag came out causing serious damage to my head and neck

I had just dropped off a co-worker when my passenger side air bag and seat belt light came back on with no one in the seat. I went down the road a few miles and the lights went off. I went a little further down the road when they came back on again. The next day the same thing happened except this time the lights remained on until the vehicle was parked and the engine turned off. This has happened twice so far, the first time March 4, 2015, and the second incident on March 5, 2015. I have had passengers in the seat before without the light coming back on after they have gotten out. This is a new problem that I have just recently experienced. I have only had the vehicle five months so I do no know if this has happened prior to me owning it. I will be taking it to a garage to be checked out if this happens again to try and duplicate the problem.

I have the same problem!!!! sometimes the passenger airbag will not turn on and the light on the dash says the airbag is off when a person is sitting there. I found that if you unbuckle your seat belt and get out and back into the seat it sometimes resets the light. Several people have posted the same unsafe condition. See-- "about 6 months ago the air bag indicator light for the passenger side started to become inconsistent in its on/off stages. We thought it was just the age of the car, but Saturn is no longer in existence, so we felt there wasn't much we could do. After reading some of the recent complaints about the 2006 Vue (on this site), we felt it necessary to advise that we also have similar experiences with the air bag indicator light for passenger side." Don't know if the airbag will work?

I started my car and as usual the airbag light flashed like it always does. However, the airbag light remained lit up, but the passenger airbag light never lit up as being "on" even though there was a passenger in the seat. I read up on the matter and saw that a lot of Saturn Vue's have had this problem and that it could be electrical and very costly. However, a recall has never been issued even though the manual clearly states that it could be an "electrical" issue and to have the matter taken care of "immediately!" how is it safe for a company to sell a car knowing full well that there could be and have been reported cases of issues with the airbags. The manual went on to say that it could result in the airbag deploying on its own without even being in an accident! so what I'm gathering is that instead of fixing a problem by issuing a recall the company would rather have people driving their cars, quite possibly on an expressway that has a speed limit of 65 mph and with family or friends in the car, have the airbag deploy on its own and cause an accident: Which in turn can turn into a trial suing the company costing them more money than it would to fix the issue! seeing as this is my only vehicle and that I don't have the cash to shell out to fix this and that it's an ongoing problem with this vehicle, I think the company needs to issue a recall and have it fixed or face a lawsuit by many unsatisfied customers.

I have a 2006 Saturn Vue with ignition and airbag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) issues. I have checked online at the GM recall website, called my dealer twice and filed a claim at the GM recall hotline. I am frustrated with the lack of or slow response to this problem and I do not understand why our model year was left out of the recall cycle. My situation: My ignition became increasing tight/stiff/locked to where I could not turn my key or pull it out. I would have to shake the car or key to get it to turn on. My key can slide right out of the ignition while the car is running, (but sometimes I can't pull it out). I have also returned to my car and found it running twice now and noticed it was not totally in the off position anymore). At the same time my airbag indicator light became intermittent and finally stayed on. Our mechanic notified us that the airbag sensing and diagnotic module (SDM) is no longer working. A dangerous safety issue. The dealers say that parts are not currently available for my model and my mechanic can not find them either. The cost is ridiculously high! I have now been on a mission to put in complaints with the appropriate divisions in an effort to see this situation resolved. (note this website list several complaints similar to mine and others. There is something linking the ignition and the airbags: ()) the 2006 model must be included in the recall before there are serious incidences. Come on General Motors corporation. Help us life long loyal buyers out. Loyal (but disappointed) GM customer white knuckling it everyday.

Several issues with 2006 Saturn Vue to report: - air bag light comes on virtually every time the car is started. There is no one in the passenger seat - ignition - key can be removed from ignition switch while motor is running - ignition - key is virtually impossible to turn unless it is cajoled repeatedly. Typical start up time is in excess of 5 minutes to find the "sweet spot". "sweet spot" tends to move on a daily basis. No particular technique works every time - ignition - key will become stuck in the ignition switch. Results in a two to five minute careful tug of war with the car in order to remove the key. Ignition switch had this problem before and was replaced (at owners expense of $214 dollars) and things were fine for approximately two years. Now the symptoms (see above) have returned. - power locks - unable to lock doors (any) with drivers side lock controls.

Last year my airbag light kept coming on and finally stayed on all the time. The sensor for the passenger seat does not work properly. It does not indicate if someone is in the seat or not. We took it to our mechanic and he advised that we would have to replace the entire seat ( I have heated seats). This is very costly and I cannot afford it. I am concerned that the airbag will not function properly when necessary. I am also concerned that if this is caused by a short somewhere, my heated seat may catch fire. I do not use the heat for this reason. Recently we are experiencing a key ignition problem. My husbands key, in particular, does not turn correctly. This is of concern to me because I am afraid that one day it will just lock up and not start. I do not want to be stranded on the road somewhere. I have been receiving messages from my onstar that there is a problem with the airbag. I hope these problems will be addressed by GM. I have seen similar complaints on this website and felt I should take action.

Bought a 2006 Saturn Vue in 2012. Within a year, had problems a couple of times with the key turning in the ignition switch. 2014: Now it takes anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes every time to get the key to turn the vehicle on in the ignition switch. Air bags: The symbol for the air bag keeps appearing on the dash board often.

The airbag sensor light on the lower left dashboard came on permanently when driving at 30 mph. There was no passenger in the passenger seat. This vehicle was purchased new in March 2006 and has never been in an accident, nor have the air bags ever been deployed. This vehicle does not a heated seats or any heating elements for the seats. This light will not turn off and after reading all of the complaints on the NHTSA.dot.gov website, there are many complaints of this same nature that have been reported by other drivers of this particular model so it appears to be a common defect and not isolated. This is a serious safety issue that I believe GM should issue a recall for repair of this problem because these sensors should not fail so prematurely.
