I received notification of 2 safety recalls for my vehicle: Subaru recall wty-84 (NHTSA id 18V-772) and Subaru safety recall wue-90 (NHTSA recall id 19V-149.) I purchased my car on the island of O'ahu and live on the island of moloka'I. servco Subaru will not pay for my car to be shipped by barge for repairs. Since the valve springs affected are a defect in the engine upon manufacture, I feel that I should receive reimbursement for the cost of shipping. My budget is tight and this will be a hardship.

On 07/08/2019 I took my Subaru Impreza to a local dealership to have recalls wue90 and wty84 competed. It now seems that whatever work was done to satisfy the recalls has been causing the car to malfunction. The recall service was completed on 07/09, and I picked it up that day. Beginning on 07/10, however, the check engine and vehicle dynamics control warning lights started coming on intermittently. So far, these warning lights have displayed for a portion, or for the entirety, of 22 of the past 32 days. Both lights (check engine and vdc) have displayed together every time, and are usually on or off when the vehicle is started. When the lights are on, the cruise control does not function and I have noticed a significant (-21.6%) decrease from my average gas mileage. On four occasions that I am able to recall, the warning lights also came on under braking (I.e. they were off when I started the car and then turned on at some point during my trip when I pressed the brakes). Whether the warning lights are on or off, I have no way of knowing what isn't working (other than the cruise control as I mentioned). I have taken the vehicle back to Subaru twice to try to resolve the issue: First on 07/10 and then on 08/07. They scanned the codes, did some work on it, and gave the car back to me, claiming that it was fixed. The one thing they are failing to consider is that the problem may actually be related to the service performed to complete the recalls because I've never had an issue with the vdc since I bought the car almost six years ago, and I don't believe the check engine light has come on during that period either. At this point, I don't even know if the car is safe to drive. Attachment: Photo of warning lights after leaving the camelback Subaru (phoenix, AZ) service shop on 08/07/2019.

The contact owns a 2013 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that the vehicle was bought used in October of 2018. The contact received recall notices for NHTSA campaign numbers: 18V772000 (engine and engine cooling) and 19V149000 (exterior lighting). The contact took the vehicle to center Subaru (45 winsted rd, torrington, ct 06790, (860) 489-1301) where it was noticed that the frame had major damage that was covered up to resell the vehicle. The dealer researched the vehicle in their system and informed the contact that they could not perform the recall repairs because the vehicle had a salvage title. The dealer further stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and that the contact may have been ripped off when purchasing the vehicle. The contact stated that the dealer from where the vehicle was purchased (auto sales ct, 1320 wolcott rd, wolcott, ct 06716, (203) 441-4911) did not disclose that the vehicle was salvaged. The failure mileage was 70,215.

Received recall notice on faulty valve springs and was told by dealer it would be at least one year before they could make the repair. This timeframe is unacceptable considering the risk of engine malfunction I am assuming while waiting. Why would you allow manufacturers to push out critical safety repairs that far out"???"

The contact owns a 2013 Subaru Impreza. While driving approximately 60-65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, there was no forward momentum. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but a fault code was unable to be retrieved. Previously, the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 18V772000 (engine and engine cooling). Gurley leep Subaru (5302 grape rd, suite #2, mishawaka, in 46545, (574) 258-7700) was contacted by phone and an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

Valve spring recall Subaru dealership "fixed" my car due to this recall back in February 2019, according to manufacturers procedure. This included adding oil and also coolant to my vehicle. It was returned to me as soon as it was completed (took 4 days approx.) however, recently, the week of the 20th of May 2019, that is about 3 months after the "repair" done for the recall, my engine stalled while I was driving on the road. Fortunately I was close to home and after struggling it turned on and I drove it home. Had to tow it to the dealership to get it fixed again. I am afraid the issue with the engine, is far more serious, and Subaru is not acknowledging the issue as they should. Stalling in the middle of the road can be extremely dangerous. This needs to be fixed in a better matter. To which I think, all affected vehicles with this serious issue, need a new engine.

I initially called my local dealer to fix the recall (engine valve malfunction) on January 18, 2019. They soonest available date to schedule the repair was today, May 13, 2019 citing a back order on parts. Almost 5 months later. Attached is the screenshot of the day I made the phone call. They also indicated in the phone call when I made the appointment that the repair would not take long and I would have my car back the next day. Today, they tell me that they will likely have my car for about a month because they are backlogged and the amount of work involved is "more than anyone anticipated." I feel that nearly 6 months cannot be considered a "reasonable amount of time."

When I listed my VIN number my car did not show up as being recalled for the Subaru valve spring recall. My five door Impreza has a build date of 06-2013. The recall goes thru June 13 of 2013. NHTSA campaign number: 18V772000 I don't know the day my vehicle was manufactured and I don't know how to determine the day. However I do know mine was equipped with the weak springs. While my car was still under warranty I had a valve spring break while driven at approximately 50 mph on the hwy allowing the valve to travel into the cylinder. This destroyed one head and the piston. Also scratching the cylinder wall. This required the replacement of the short block assembly and one head. Now I still have one original head and one replacement head that I don't know the build date on. I think the recall should be expanded to cover cars built later than June 13 2013.

Excessive oil consumption. Vehicle needs to have entire oil reservoir refilled every 3 or so days. When on highway, vehicles seizes up. The car slows way down by itself and the hill assist indicator light comes on as well as the check engine light. It loses control and the car starts shaking. I have seen too many people with this same exact issue and Subaru refuses to help. This is an ongoing Subaru problem and should be recalled!

While traveling on the highway (I-79 in pa, just South of exit #68 mount nebo road), my engine lost power. I was traveling in a straight line at the time. I had it towed to a Subaru dealership which confirmed it had seized. Added cspc shortly before this, I had received notice that I am a member of a class action settlement concerning Subaru connecting rod bearings and main bearings. My car is a 2013 WRX, and WRX engines made between 2012 and 2017 are in the class. The dealership informed that although they had not yet inspected the engine to determine the cause, they guessed the cause was a turbo failure: Which happens to be excluded from the settlement. ("guess" was the service manager's word, not mine.) I was further informed by this same service manager of my local dealer that a full engine inspection is required in order to determine the cause - which means it will cost me close to $900 for Subaru to determine whether or not they will cover my repairs under the settlement. Milage at the time of the engine failure was approximately 46,500 miles.

Subaru recall from October 2018. The car is starting to stall while driving. Subaru is now telling me that I have to wait until late may to have my car repaired. This is unsafe and is my only vehicle for work. During driving on the expressway between 30 and 60mph or on city streets between 20-30pmh, the car just slows way down by itself and the hill start/assist warning light keeps coming on and periodically the vehicle dynamics control light also comes on. These issues have been ongoing and periodic but more and more frequent since December 2018.
