Summary
"THIS SERVICE INFORMATION BULLETIN ANNOUNCES A DESIGN CHANGE TO THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS TO PREVENT WATER INTRUSION AND ACCUMULATION FROM OCCURRING INSIDE THE CORRUGATED PLASTIC HARNESS TUBING. IN SOME CASES, THIS ACCUMULATION MAY CAUSE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE AND EXHAUST CAMSHAFT POSITION-RELATED DTCS TO BE STORED IN THE ECM MEMORY (E.G. P0390, P0391). THE CHANGE INVOLVES FULL TAPING OF THE HARNESS TUBE AS OPPOSED TO PITCH TAPING (NO TAPE OVERLAP) TO ENHANCE “SEALING” OF THE HARNESS TUBE AND PREVENT WATER INTRUSION WHICH MAY OCCUR DURING ENGINE CLEANING (STEAM CLEANING AND / OR PRESSURE WASHING). UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY OF THIS CONDITION OCCURRING. COMPARISON PHOTOS OF THE TAPING ARE SHOWN BELOW FOR REFERENCE."
