At speeds of 65-75 mph on the highway after about 15 minutes slowing down to get off the highway, the engine is loud and sounds like a diesel engine. Sounds like top end rocker arm knocking, I took it to the dealer and they said that they could not take the car over 55mph. I told them it only does it between 65-75 whicj is the speed limit on the highways South of the car dealer. They only took it at 55mph and did not hear it. There is one other reference complaint that I have found here that states he is going through the same thing. Ref # 10095916.

Purchased Suzuki Verona in April, 2004. Noticed early on that the engine sounded too loud. When car is heated and upon acceleration it gets louder. The engine idles rough like a diesel engine and at times knocks. I have mentioned to the service dept. Everytime I take it in for oil changes and they act like they don't hear or know what I am talking about. I even had the tech. Ride around with me so that he could hear what I was talking about. He mentioned it could be lifters or timing chain and would have the office call to see if there were any recalls. Very reluctant to do anything. Finally in September the car stalled in the middle of the street. Had to be towed home. Started up again the next day. Then I received the recall notice. The ECM has been replaced and no more stalling so far, but the engine just does not sound right. No response from the dealer. Currently car only has 6,800 miles on it but it sounds like it is twenty years old. Again no response from dealer. They don't seem interested in trying to fix the problem. I will not recommend this car to anyone and am sorry to say that I regret purchasing the Suzuki Verona.

I bought my Suzuki Verona Jan 2004 and had problems from the first week. The radio would not work because they couldn't find the code so they had to take it out to reprogram, the car would not go forward when I hit the gas pedal, the transmission would jerk, then worst of all it would just cut off whether sitting still or in motion. In that six month period, I had to drive 6 loaner vehicles. People began to ask me if I owned a car lot because I was always in a different car! ;O)so I filed a lemon law claim and after 6 months I got a brand new Verona. But the story doesn't end there because after 1 month and a half of my new Verona replacement, it cut off on me while I was driving down the street. Same problem as my first Verona. The thing that got me during my first ordeal was the fact that Suzuki did not believe me which is why I had to go file a claim. But now, from what I have been told this time around, my car along with 3 other Veronas are now sitting in the shop waiting for Suzuki to come and fix them. So I am in loaner car number 7. good luck to you all who have not experience any problems. But if you do, don't let them fool you. I am a witness that this car has major problems. Pe04062_cat

I bought a 2004 Suzuki Verona 4 door sedan, in October 2003. Since then I have taken it to the dealership numerous times, they keep sending me away without fixing it, they say when the car stalls thats the way it was designed. And all the cars I have owned in the past I've never heard of them being designed to stall!! it does not accelerate properly, the car stalls miss fires when cold, it doesn't shift right, the service person said that it was my driving (bull)! the mechanic supposed to fix the clock three times and still doesn't work, the heated seats don't work properly, the cigerette liter doesn't work, they said it was the fuse but the fuses are good. I am extremely unhappy with the proformance of this car, they have told me that nobody else has had any complaints, that mine is the first.there needs to be something done before somebody gets hurt or even killed, especially today when I tried to pull out into traffic and it didn't wont to accelerate it started to go and it wouldn't move, after I proceeded to go it wouldn't do nothing almost causing me to get hit by an on coming car, that wouldn't slow down!!! disgusted in South Carolina!!! I would not reccomend a Suzuki to anyone, they are all junk. Pe04062_cat

From the moment I purchased my 2004 Suzuki Verona, I've had nothing but problems. Problems include right side pulling (the dealer replaced the tire but it continues to pull. However dealer claims "there is no problem, you just don't like the vehicle"). problems with idling and the car cutting off. Problem with gears not shifting fast enough (mine is an automatic) but it stalls all the time when I am trying to accelerate. I am extremely unhappy with the performance of this automobile. I would never recommend anyone to buy a Suzuki. I've pretty much been told by the dealer I bought it from that they cannot find my "mystery complaints" and that they can't do anything to things they can't find. It's all a bunch of bull! I do have the same problems that other owners are complaining about, it's not all in my head! pe04062_cat

Consumer stated that when driving, the vehicle just shutdown. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and they had it for over a week and the consumer was afraid to get back into it because she thought she may get killed. The electronic key would not open the vehicle and it would relock itself continuously at least three times before the consumer could enter, the seat belt would disengage itself, there was a stalling problem, the dealer suggested that the vehicle would adjust itself while in motion, and the A/C would choke. I have a 2004 Suzuki Verona and about 3000 miles it stalled after driving it with the airconditioner set at about 72 degrees in hot weather the car restarted about 2-3 hours after cooling off. I have experienced this about 3 times now. I took the car into the dealer the first time it happened and they could not do anything to it because the car was working properly. The 3rd time it happened was at the dealership after driving it for an 1 1/2 in hot weather again. It is currently there and what made it interesting is that there is another Verona being serviced for the same reason. Both Suzuki headquaters and the dealer are being very cooperative and are working with me to resolve the issue. Pe04062_cat
