The engine locked up and failed while on a over night trip leaving passengers stranded in the dark in the middle of the night. The oil light came on only minutes before, not allowing for adequate time to intervene. We were unaware at the time of the engines problem with excessive burning of oil. The garage mechanics were expecting to find an oil leak as the problem for the engine burning up and were surprised to find no leak. The car was purchased 8 months ago, pre-owned with 72,000 miles on it. When the engine failed it had 89,000 miles on it and $9000 left on the loan. Reluctant to pay thousands to have the engine replaced since the engine is known to have this recurring problem.

Known issue of excessive oil consumption where the oil change light comes on just into 1,000 miles after changing oil. The local dealer at ira Toyota of tewksbury, MA.01876 - tried to fix the problem the first time but the problem came back or was still there. I have since complained to Toyota us at 1-800-331-4331 they opened a case#1701232302 for my issue but now say that the local Toyota and even regional stores cannot take my car back to fix it again the local store says that I am out of warranty because I came back after 14,379 miles I am now stuck with a car that has already stopped on me right in the middle of the street - with the steering wheeling blocking suddenly and for me having to veer quickly on the curb while the steering wheel is hard to control. I can hear a squeeling noise when I change gears ( manual car) and when I put the foot on the clutch. The car shakes a lot when I change gears and I am about to stop. I am afraid for my safety and of course lots of inconveniences because I cannot use this car for many activities involving my family or just anywhere past 10 miles of my house. I am hoping that I can get help with this issue which is a known issue by Toyota, an issue that they did not fix properly in the first place and now they are just hoping that I can go away by denying me my rights to proper service. I told Toyota us that it does not make sense how a known issue can be fixed and just within 1 year it comes back.

Takata recall: I took my 2007 Toyota Camry 4 cyl for the bulletin it has of oil consuption and it pass the test twice, I knew there was something wrong but as the technicians told me it was okay I drove it like that for some months still had to add every 1,000 miles 1 Q of oil. The engine oil has burned up. Have almost no oil left after getting oil change less than 3000 miles ago. The is no oil leakage on driveway where car is parked. Oil filter is on tight and oil cap is on. My wife said she was getting a warning light of some kind that day so I checked the oil when she told me. I took my car, bought and added 4 qts of high mileage oil and zmax treatment to minimize any potential damage.

I recently bought a 2007toyota Camry December 2016 and ever since I bought it, it has been consuming too much oil. It would burn my full tank of oil at around 1K-1.2K miles after an oil change. I, 'm afraid that this much oil consumption will eventually lead to wrecking the motor and probably causing an accident. Toyota had a warranty for this type of issue but it expired last year. The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle shook violently when the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, when depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lost power and accelerated without warning. The contact also stated that the vehicle lost oil after two or three days. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the radiator detached and leaked water, and the oil ring failed. Both components needed to be replaced. The radiator was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 187,671.

Around 145,000 miles, it started burning oil rapidly, around 1 quart every 1,500 miles. I started researching and found that Toyota is aware of this situation but, unless the issue happens within 100,000 miles, will not cover the repair. This needs to be remedied as they know there is an issue with their vehicle.

On line research has indicated many owners learning either their dealer or Toyota, or both are hesitant or refusing to perform corrective action at no cost to the current owner. On line recommendation is that this complaint should be filed with your Agency along with two other entities involved in monitoring Toyota motor company and Toyota dealer response and remedial action.
