Last Friday I checked the engine oil level with the dipstick and i was surprised to notice that there were no trace of engine oil at all. The next morning i went to Toyota Dealer close to my home and ask them to change engine oil and also to check if there is any leakage around the oil pan or anywhere. They change the engine oil and told me that there is no leakage in the engine. They also told me contact with Toyota to see if they have any kind of recall for that particular problem. Since my manufacturer warranty expired three years ago I can't fix it right way. But I was also shocked to know that there was no check engine sign shown on the control panel screen. If there is no engine oil in your car, that is a very severe problem and there must be some kind of alarm or visual so that the car owner will check that problem. I am planning to call Toyota customer service to check there were recall for that particular problem. Also if anybody has any kind of suggestion to stop this excessive engine oil consumption, please feel free to write back.

I took my 2007 Camry for an oil consumption test and it failed. We were advised that the dealership will have the parts in anywhere from 4-6 months and as long as we kept oil in the car then the problem would not cause any other issues and it would be safe. 3 weeks later the car over heated and blew the water pump. The dealership has told us that the overheating has nothing to do with the burning of the oil so the engine overheating and possibly needing replacement will be on us. This was very convenient timing. If the water pump was failing I believe the dealership knew of the situation and didn't tell us and waited for it to fail so they could place the blame on us. Bottom line Toyota has a MAJOR problem with these 07 Camry's and they all are doing everything they can NOT to fix the problem. I have personally met 6 people that I didn't know prior to June 2015 and they all have had the same exact problem and they all have expressed their disappointment with Toyota and their lack of customer service in trying to fix this problem. Being a previous owner of 4 Toyota's I will NOT buy another one. My Camry is for sale and if anyone wants to buy my Sequoia they can have that too.

This is my second Camry and my last Toyota. Was interested in a new Rav4. I going to start checking Honda's equivalent

First let me say that I have always gotten my oil changed at the designated times and periodically checked my oil in between oil changes. So in April of 2011 I noticed that my car 2007 Camry CE was smelling hot, I checked my oil and there was no oil on the dipstick, I had to add 2.5 quarts of oil to show the oil on the stick. I had gotten my oil changed in September of 2010, the mileage was 40,321 but when I took the car in for an oil change on April 15th 2011 I had only 43,954 miles on it and at that time is when I told my Toyota dealer that I felt that my car was using oil. It wasn't leaking, I didn't see any smoke coming out of the tailpipe and wondered what was going on.

That was the start of the 9 month oil consumption testing process. It was not fun, Toyota didn't see an issue because according to their booklet that comes with the car the oil usage was normal. According to the manual: Oil Consumption Max, 1.0 L per 1000 km(1.1 qt./600 miles, 0.9 Imp. qt./600 miles. So what I was taking from our conversations was that my car could use under maximum consumption a quart of oil every 600 miles. Now, I argued this with them for many months(9 months to be exact) and told them if their # 1 car in the country (Camry) used that much oil, then they were producing a piece of sh*t car! I have friends with much higher mileage on their American cars and they weren't using any oil to speak of. i was going in every 1000 miles and they were adding oil each time. Needless to say it took until 1/6/2012 to get my oil consumption issue resolved.

By then my car had 55,535 miles on it and after the dealer consulted with a Toyota representative they agreed to fix my car. They were very good at letting me know that Toyota was doing this as a good will for me since my warranty had expired. In turn, I reminded them that I was told I was grandfathered in on this since the testing started before my warranty was up. After all, it only took them 9 months to finally agree to fix the issue. Really, 40,000 mile on this car and its using oil, I believe I bought a lemon. I bought this car brand new, not even on the lot in June 2006, it was my very first brand new car and I have hated it every since. They were either going to replace the pistons or the small block. They ended up replacing the pistons, it took me 3 more times of taking the car back to them due to vibration in the engine before they got it right. I now have 87,853 miles on the car and its using oil again.

I recently had to add 1.5 quarts of oil to the vehicle, so I took it in for an early oil change, this was just after 3500 miles since last oil change. I told them it was using oil again, so they started an oil consumption test and I went back after 1200 miles and they had to add a little over 1/2 quart of oil. At that point, they told me (5/28/15) that my car had passed the oil consumption test and that I was no longer eligible for further repairs per Toyota warranty Enhancement Program. I've been told by other mechanics that the dealer should have just replaced my engine and that I did get a lemon. I have always taken my car to the dealer for all oil changes since I bought it, but I don't think I will continue with them. I've had other issues with this car that I won't go into right now, but if I could afford to get rid of it and buy something else, I would. That's my story:(

I have always kept up with the maintenance on my 2007 Camry. Overall has been a good car until now. My 2007 Camry has @ 84,000 miles on it and has been garaged kept.

On the way to work on Friday, August 21, 2105, the oil light came on and flashed. Not sure why, I checked the oil level when I arrived home. I DO NOT HAVE AN OIL LEAK! I was totally shocked with the oil level. The oil level didn't even show on my dipstick!! I had to add 2 quarts of oil! I did call my dealer and was told to check the oil regularly. Where does the oil go? Now I am afraid that I will be traveling somewhere and my oil level will disappear.

I have never owned a Toyota - not sure that I will again. I have had many cars but never had one where my oil disappeared!!!!

I get engine oil light for an average of 3 thousand miles and I need to fill 1 qt engine oil. Initially I was scared and asked Toyota dealer to fix the problem. They came back and told me there is a oil leak Paid $1000 plus dollars and was repaired but the problem still exists. Now I store 1 or 2 qt of oil in my car trunk, fill when light appears and take it for servicing when due for oil change service. Overall I lost money on engine repair and very annoyed with this problem.

I checked the oil on my 2007 Toyota Camry about a few weeks ago and found the oil barely at the tip of the stick. My oil car has not been dripping oil on the ground, none on the engine so I wonder what happen to the oil. I always get my oil changed on time. Toyota has always changed my oil but I was disappointed with the fact that ,almost no oil was in my car. I realize this can damage my engine. I bought this car brand new and made sure the oil was changed on time and here I am still running into defect that's not in my control. will they fix my car???

After years and years of not only regularly changing my engine oil as recommended by Toyota and adding oil in between oil changes, I received a letter from Toyota a few moths ago stating that they had received some reports where vehicles may exhibit excessive engine oil consumption. The letter went on to say that they were currently preparing the necessary parts to implement a Warranty Enhancement Program, and that they anticipate it will take several months to build the necessary parts. Since I knew immediately that my Camry was definitely one of the vehicles experiencing this problem, I contacted one of my local Toyota dealerships to begin the engine oil consumption test. Apparently, this test would determine if my car would be eligible for warranty work once sufficient parts have been produced.

To make a long story short, my Camry failed the oil consumption test and will need to be repaired. No surprise there, but my problem with this whole mess is that we have no timetable, no explanation for what exactly will be repaired, how long it will take, etc. This is obviously a very serious problem and I feel like they need to fix this problem now. They did tell me that I am responsible (while I am waiting to get another letter from Toyota instructing me on what to do next) for making sure that my oil is not low or empty altogether and that if that were to happen, basically I would be responsible. I always check my oil levels anyway because I believe in keeping maintenance up to date on my car, but they know there is a problem with these engines so they need to fix them, period.

I bet if I were taking the car in and told them to put a new engine in it, they would gladly get it done and collect my $4000+ dollars, but those of us who own these vehicles with this problem just have to sit back and wait in the meantime. I am just very frustrated.
