Camry 4-cyl

  • 75,000 miles
On Tuesday 3/5/2013 while driving on a street with no stop sign/traffic signals (I had the right of way) another driver either failed to stop at the stop sign or stopped but did not see me and hit me so hard that my car was totaled ( the battery was actually loosened from the engine). My concern is that none of the airbags deployed. I realize that this incident was more than a year ago but I am concerned that this may be a safety issue with airbags failing to deploy despite heavy impacts (the other vehicle was a larger older work van).

The dashboard in my 2007 Toyota Camry has started melting off, and under the sun's heat it becomes very soft, sticky and bright, and when the sun reflects on the dashboard it causes visibility/safety issues. Also, I'm afraid the airbag under the dashboard may become affected if the dashboard cracks or breaks.

Camry 6-cyl

  • 101,666 miles
On my 2007 Toyota Camry I have noticed that the front dashboard became very shiny and become very sticky and has since started to deteriorate. The shine coming from the dashboard reflects and causes a harsh glare which makes it very hard to see through the windshield. Also, the passenger side air bag sensor is not working, it remains off no matter what. Not sure if this is related to the dashboard melting but I have searched the internet and have seen several complaints of this same issue.

Camry

  • 150,000 miles
The dashboard is disintegrating. The area on the front part of the dashboard (closest to the windshield) seems to be the worse, although the problem is spreading to the entire dash. It is sticky, tacky, shiny and gouges easily. This problem is creating a glare and is dangerous. The dash is basically melting. I worry about the function of the airbags. Recently my airbag light is coming on and then going out for no apparent reason. I fear that the dash will become so unstable that it will cause the airbag to deploy. Please help. I am afraid for anyone to sit on the driver's side of my car.

My daughter was traveling 55 mph on a 4-lane highway in her 2007 Toyota Camry le. A truck behind her attempting to change lanes rear-ended her and caused a chain-reaction crash involving 5 vehicles. The Toyota sustained heavy damage to the back and front of the vehicle and was deemed a total loss. All of the Toyota's airbags failed to deploy. The truck's airbags were deployed as well as the BMW. The SUV's airbags did not deploy (it was an earlier model SUV). My daughter was transported to the emergency room where it was determined that she sustained a severe whiplash injury to her neck and a bruised arm. She later complained of pain radiating down her back. Please refer to recall id #06V096000 - air bags recall date: April 03, 2006. We were not informed of the airbag recall. We received a reply from Toyota suggesting that the impact did not occur in the proper position for the airbags to deploy what is the purpose of airbags if it fails to deploy during an accident and the sensors need to be hit in a certain position? a copy of the Toyota letter may be provided to the NHTSA upon request. Please provide any information concerning collisions where the airbags did not deploy.

Airbag indicator light came on for apparently no reason, took car in for service and was told it was not an issue with Toyota, I had to pay to get part replaced, after almost $400 repair cost, got vehicle back and running. This issue should not be put on the back of consumers as these are safety parts that should last much longer that average parts of the cars.

At 59,000 miles, the check vs system light came on, as well as check engine light. I took the car to the Toyota dealer. At the time, I still had the extended warranty. They replaced "bank 2" ignition coil and charged me $100 deductible. At 70,528 miles the exact same thing happened. Check vsc system and check engine light came on. At the time, still under extended warranty. It was diagnosed with bad # 6 coil. They charged me the $100 deductible. At 90,000 miles (now) the exact same symptoms. I am assuming it is another bad ignition coil. There should be a recall on the 2007 Camry's ignition coils. I cannot afford to keep replacing ignition coils by a Toyota dealership, especially now that my car is not under the extended warranty. I also had Toyota replace clips on the air bag cover on passenger side in 2008. The part still sags. It is defective. It is in the Toyota dealership computer system that I brought it in at least twice for the sagging air bag cover. The new clips did not fix it.

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry and the dashboard is melting. The dashboard towards the windshield is always in a liquid state and the rest of the dashboard is soft. In the sunshine and at night under street lights the dashboard reflects a glare onto the windshield that impairs the drivers entire vision of the road. Also on the passenger side of the dashboard the outline of the airbag compartment can be seen. I believe the glare on the windshield is a hazard and due to the current condition of the dashboard the passenger airbag may fail to deploy when needed. The dashboard has not been treated with chemicals that may have caused this problem. It has always been cleaned with a wet wash cloth.

I rear-ended another vehicle traveling at no less than 35mph. The impact was severe enough that my insurance company has indicated that the car will probably be deemed totaled. My airbags failed to deploy and I sustained soft tissue injuries to my neck and shoulders. I reiterate that no airbag in my vehicle deployed, in spite of the speed and severity of the crash.

When driving on the no 1 lane (by the carpool lane), an SUV crossed the double yellow lines and rear ended my left side at approximate 40mph. My passengers were shaken up while I was taken to the er. I did noticed that my airbags did not deploy. After the accident I did some searching and came to find out that airbags for this particular model do not deploy!!! not to mentioned that prior to this finding, I had taken my car back to the dealer for an accelerator issue. Also pending is the sun visor recall as well.

While driving 2007 Toyota Camry, the car was pulling to the left. I tried to control the car. The steering wheel locked up, the car went out of control. Spinning and hitting the guard rail twice. The air bag didnt deployed, and the seat belt didnt hold or lock me into place while it was on. When the car came to a complete stop I turn the vehicle around from the on coming traffic, the brakes was giving out and the car was still steering to the left. I ended up in a ditch on the guard rail.
