Constant transmission problems, Toyota says hesitation is normal, they can't find any problems, but one Toyota mechanic told me that he believed Toyota over-designed their car.

Bought new 2007 Toyota Camry in March, 2007. Continue to experience flare up in RPM with corresponding down shifting of transmission driving on inclined road, however slightly inclined. Car cannot hold set speed on cruise control without down shifting and going like a bat out of hell over- shooting set speed before shifting back up again. Have had tsb installed which was supposed to correct this problem. It did not. Have had car into Toyota dealer 4 times with same problems (still not fixed).

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While driving 3 mph, the vehicle lost power, but the engine continued to run. The dealer was unable to repair the vehicle and found nothing wrong with its computer. The vehicle only accelerates when the accelerator pedal is almost depressed to the floor. The current mileage was 3771 and failure mileage was 1,000. Updated 02/01/08. The consumer stated the vehicle would hesitate.

Getting off on the off ramp and the car lost all power and would not accelerate. The car behind me tried to miss me but ended up hitting me in the side rear. Why does this Camry lose all power at once and accelerates sporadically. If this is not recalled and fixed soon I will have to trade it in and it won't be for another Toyota!!! my family is at risk and it is not worth it when you don't have trust in your vehicle.

Camry 6-cyl

Vehicle information: 2007 Camry SE V6 purchased in toronto, Ontario, Canada in Sep 2007 ? vehicle manufacturing date Aug 29, 2007. Deficiencies: 1) hesitation the vehicle would not respond to acceleration (even with full throttle) after driving in heavy traffic (stop and go) or driving very passively. This symptom is consistence and hesitation is long and common is 80 klm speed. The vehicle does not down shift at all. Change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. New dealer has acknowledged the problem and has reprogrammed the transmission chip as per tsb. (will pick up the vehicle today) 2) crackling noise from control are and dashboard next to windshield during entire cold season. Noises appear every few second. Over 90% of the problem disappears during warmer weather. Change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. New dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation as per tsb to control area only. The dashboard noise next to windshield could not be replicated. I have to bring the vehicle to dealer during winter month to replicate the problem before any action is taken. 3) thumping noise from rear end of the vehicle on bumps (like a lose watermelon in your trunk). Again, first dealer did nothing. New dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation to struts as per tsb, 4) high revving and transmission not in gear in sudden acceleration. Similar response as you are driving a manual transmission and you continue to accelerate while changing gear. New dealer suggest that the reprogramming should take care of this.

Sluggish transmission. When merging to highway traffic I found extremely sluggish response to transmission. I was almost rear ended in more then one occasion. I understand this is a common problem with many 2007 Camry. I have been driving over 12 years and never had any such problem.

The car has been having lots of transmission problems. At low speeds it shifted back and forth between gears even when maintaining same speed and on flat surface. At all speeds it will sometimes pause upto 2 seconds when trying to accelerate quickly. It will sometimes shift and go and others will squeal the tires and pop like it shifted two gears at once. Also, it will max out at 8 rpms when on the highway until it finally shifted.

Bought 2007 Camry in May 2007. Car was manufactured in October 2006. Car had severe hesitation upon acceleration in lower gears, first and second. It was especially bad when running the air conditioning. There have been times when the car will not accelerate when pulling into traffic, which was dangerous. Dealer was unaware of a solution for the problem. This was obviously a common problem reflecting Camry vehicles, and needed to be dealt with immediately.

We purchased an 07 Camry Nov 06. At 7,000 miles it started slipping, not accelerating. We took to dealer. They reset memory. Didn't help. Took a second time, reset memory, didn't help. Went through arbitrator, didn't help. The car is unsafe to drive. When it needs to accelerate, it doesn't. I was almost hit by a semi. Toyota is aware of a defect in the computer chip, but won't do anything about it. Please help me and the other 07 Camry owners before an accident occurs which could possibly be fatal. Its not a matter of if an accident will occur, but a matter of when. We are also getting bad gas mileage due to the defect.

The "design" of how the vehicle is to operate and driving performance issues. Poor acceleration, hesitation, automatic shifting of the transmission when driving. Gas mileage is not as manufacturer stated. Front tires wore out at 15K miles. Per the dealership no front end problems found and do not know why the tires wore out so quick while the back tires are still good. Constant pulling of the vehicle. If I hit a bump the car and steering wheel jerks to one side or the other. Acceleration and hesitation is a safety issue. Speed overshoot after hesitation. Transmission seems to stop working when trying to accelerate. The dealership states this is how the vehicle is designed to run. I was not informed of the bulletin issued in Sept 2006 regarding a download of new computer software or of the fact Toyota was aware of all the issues mentioned. To my understanding it did not help any of the issues. Overall the vehicle is hard to drive for fear of wrecking. I am checking into lemon law. The dealerships do not know how to fix these manufacturing problems. I have had these problems since the purchase of the vehicle and still are on going.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The vehicle hesitates when the contact depresses the accelerator pedal. Toyota stated that nothing could be done because it was a design flaw. The contact believes that the vehicle is unsafe and dangerous. He stated that when merging into traffic at 60-65 mph, the vehicle may or may not pick up speed when the accelerator pedal is depressed. The current mileage is 4,850 and failure mileage was 2,879. The consumer provided repair invoices for the vehicle. The dealer stated A/C is not working, it is only blowing warm air regardless of setting. Updated 08/07/07

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that when he depresses the accelerator pedal, the engine revs but the vehicle will not move. He also stated that the vehicle operates as if it is unsure of which gear it is in. The failures occur intermittently. He has notified the dealer and they stated that there is a flaw with the ECM module. The manufacturer, who has a case number, stated that the vehicle was designed to perform in that manner and offered to replace the ECM module. However, they stated that his vehicle already has the updated software. The current mileage is 20,000 and failure mileage was 5,000.

Toyota has taken an unconsciable position against a potentially dangerous problem with the 2007 Camry with automatic transmission. They admitted the problem, which they preferred to call a concern existing in all 2007 Camry four and six cylinder vehicles. The problem was a hesitation, or lag, when attempted to accelerate the vehicle. This occursrred at low speeds from a stop, turning. Lane change, or forward movement about 80% of the time. I have been buying Camry and avalons since 1989 and have been a satisfied customer until the purchase of the 2007 Camry xle, 4 cylinder with 5-speed automatic transmission. Toyota has obviously weighed the cost to them of correcting the problem against financial losses from serious accident law suites.

Camry 4-cyl

I slowed down the car at the end of an interstate exit ramp to check for traffic and thinking I had enough time to cross the intersection I gave it gas and got very little acceleration. When I pushed the gas to the floor I still got no more acceleration. I wrote the Toyota service department to make an appointment to bring it in and received the response that they were aware of the problem, but at this time there was no solution so do not bring the car in. If there had been more traffic in that situation it would have caused a wreck. Acceleration is also very erratic when using cruise control, going up a slight hill will cause the motor to race. Also, it requires quite a lot of force to stop the car.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. When driving approximately 60 mph and greater and attempting to accelerate, the transmission hesitates. The hesitation occurs continuously. While attempting to decelerate to 15 mph and then speed up, the vehicle fails to accelerate. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who noticed the failure, but stated that there was no remedy. The engine size and failure mileage were unknown. The current mileage is 6,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While parking the vehicle, the gear shift indicator became stuck in the neutral position. There were no warning indicators. The vehicle was pushed and the parking brake was applied. The vehicle had to be towed. The dealer diagnosed the failure as the flange nut coming off the vehicle. The vehicle has been repaired. The failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 1,550.
