The radio touchscreen is partially inoperative. Because of this, I can't pair my cell phone to my car. This means that I can't use my cell phone hands free. This is a safety issue. This defect is very common. Toyota has a technical service bulletin about it (tsb 0172-16). Toyota told me that the whole radio touchscreen assembly needs to be replaced. The cost quoted is $1400. Because this is a safety issue there should be a recall and Toyota should fix this at no cost.

The touchscreen has completely gone out and you can no longer use touch to access car settings - therefore not being able to change key features on the car. A couple examples would be automatically locking and unlocking the car, and dimming screen brightness for safer driving at night. The screen has gradually gone out over time and officially quit October 2019.

I originally bought a vehicle from carbone Subaru of troy NY on 11/27 2018. (complaint originally submitted December, 2019). The car was a lemon. I finally got a replacement vehicle (with clean carfax) on 12/31/18. On 8/30/19, car was totaled due amount of mold found everywhere in the car, icluding roof and spare tire in trunk. I called carbone Subaru several times and was ignored. I finally got ahold of melinda @ lithia motor group hq in Oregon. I was told she would call me back within a week. Over 3 weeks later and several attempts I got ahold of her. I explained to her I complained about the horrific odor in the car to my salesperson and to a mechanic, and was given an air freshener. I was told that I bought the car in winter, and water is a summer problem, and they would only help me if I bought a 3rd car from them. I now have to follow up with a pulmonary specialist for the next several years to check for mold related health problems. It has also cost $150 in doctor co-pays so far, $500 in insurance deductible, $1,500 for down payment and expenses for having to buy another car after 8 months of owning the 2014 Camry. I have several pictures of the mold found in Camry, the complete loss statement by insurance, the $20,000+ estimate to remediate the mold, and medical documentation

I was driving southbound on us highway 141in Wisconsin, just North of the lineville rd exit. I was going the speed limit approx. 70 mph. The temp. Was in the 60S and the sky was overcast with no precip. There was little traffic and I was on a flat stretch of road with no vehicles directly in front or behind. There was no construction and/or road equipment in sight. I had not driven under any structures. Suddenly my sunroof exploded above my head. The sunroof was closed and the interior screen was pulled shut. I did not see any objects or animals, only glass flying in the rearview mirror. It was a terrifying sound, like a shotgun blast. I pulled off at the nearest exit in a towing area and saw that there was a big hole in the glass and shards of shattered glass on top of the interior screen, which had been pulled shut. I called 911 and explained what happened. Two brown county wis. Officers came and looked at the damage and assessed there had not been any kind of gun shot. The officers documented the call. I was forced to drive holding the inside screen with one hand holding it shut, so it would not blow open, for approximately 40 miles to meet my husband and switch cars.I felt very unsafe and was shaken, as I had never experienced anything like this before. I have read, online, that there have been many other similar incidents and I believe it is a Toyota manufacturing defect and safety issue. I called Toyota and reported the incident but they said my car did not qualify for any current "programs" and it was my responsibility to repair. Fortunately I was not cut by glass, but was badly shaken to the point of feeling nauseated for hours afterwards.

While car was going 30-35mph, I had to slow down due to traffic. Letting go of the accelerator was fine, but when I pressed the accelerator again, car stalled under low RPM for 2-3 seconds. This happened back in may and it was just sometimes. But now it's been happening everyday on low speeds and low RPM. Idling is fine, car is always in operating temperature when stalling happens (so I know this is not related to cold engine). I called Toyota and they're not sure what could cause it.

The front door locks no longer operate by remote. This is not a remote problem since my rear door locks do respond. I believe the front door lock actuators have failed on both the driver and passenger sides. The repairs for this will cost hundreds of dollars. There is currently a class action lawsuit in California. I think this is a wide spread problem.

For almost a year now, I have been smelling a mildew odor coming from my vents. I vacuumed the interior carpets with baking soda and sprayed the vents with lysol. I checked under the hood and under the car for any leakage. Nothing. I also changed my cabin air filter again. No positive results. My last option was to google Toyota odor complaints and bingo, other complaints about this issue. This certainly is a problem that Toyota should address and repair, without cost to the car owner.

Start to have the following problem on 12/20/2018 get up to 20 mph hard shift and then up to 40 mph has a vibration and then after between 45 and 55 mph it drive normal. Noticeable hesitation when accelerating and shifting occurs between 30-32 mph. Hesitate to accelerate between 2nd and 3rd gear when taking off, it mostly happen when the engine is first starting out from stop, afterward it fine gears shifts correctly and the idle control guage is normal between gears. I took the car to the local Toyota dealer on 01/03/2019, the technician took the car for drive test and he said its a torque converter problem. They changed the torque converter part; on 1/05/2019 I went to the dealer to pick up the car and after driving for few minutes, I noticed the same problem. I retook the car to the Toyota dealer for the same problem, and the same technician took for the test drive, and this time he said it has internal delay on second gear. I am not sure what's the problem, but they advised I need to change the transmission. After doing some research I found the following online. "cars equipped with an automatic transmission might experience a hesitation when accelerating. Revised software for the on board computer is available which may correct this problem. Software revisions are commonly most helpful on newer vehicles. Once the mileage builds up a worn component could cause similar problems. Whenever major transmission work in performed, the transmission software should be updated as necessary". I am taking my car on 01/07/2019 to update the software and see if that can fix the problem

Replaced the torque converter before 57,000. According the the service ad visor this was a problem that Toyota knew about and never issue a recall. My car VIN was on a list. I was driving on a highway at 60 miles and notice the odometer won't move. It won't accelerate over 60 mph. The dealer change the torque converter but still having problems. The dealer won't give me a copy of the repair.

Both front power door locks have stopped operating. The locks still work manually but it is cumbersome with the smartkey, as the smartkey has a very small blade style key that is difficult to remove from the smartkey. Only opens the driver's side door has a key hole and the blade style only goes in facing one direction. A quick internet search make it apparent that this is a common problem across all Toyota brands and many models and many years. Out of warranty costs to repair at dealer are $600-$1200. This seems like the door lock actuators fail prematurely dues to poor (perhaps intentional) design.

Toyota Camry models of 2014 (rav4S also) and after have defective entertainment stereo lcds. The lower half of the lcd stops working and you can not connect phone via bluetooth. Its a big problem while driving. Toyota denies the repair at their cost saying the car is out of warranty. Its just not an isolated situation but its wide spread. Internet forums are filled with this problem. A lot of people are suffered due to this.
