I received a safety recall notice from Toyota about 6 months ago, telling me that the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit (SRS ECU) has been recalled and needs to be replaced. (NHTSA recall id 15V285) at that time, I was told that parts were not available to replace the SRS ECU, but that I would be told at a later date when they were available so that I could have this issue fixed. Earlier this week, I got another recall notice for the same issue. All they told me in this newest notice is that the problem still exists and that parts are *still* not available to replace the SRS ECU. Their recommendation is to not have anyone sit in the front passenger seat until I am able to have this problem fixed. This is unacceptable. I have to take my father to a doctor's appointment in a month. He is over 6 feet tall. I am* going to make him sit in the back seat between two child seats. I am certainly not going to make him drive himself as his doctor has insisted that he have a ride to and from his procedure. I have contacted Toyota directly, and have been told by the person who answered the phone that they have idea* when these parts will be available. This is completely unacceptable and a fine example of poor customer service. These parts need to be produced, tested, and made available as quickly as possible.
